I dont think Green is better than Suh and Suh came out last year. you cant tackle the QB if he is thinking about throwing either This is similiar to when the QB intends to throw the ball, then decides not to, and fumbles, its not a fumble
-
yea, he played mainly DE and some DT on passing downs. I read he did very poorly in the SR bowl practices in multiple reports and couldnt beat anyone and got pushed around, and I thought he was blah in the game. I also read he didnt look that good in the combine drills. I didnt see the drills or anything though so maybe the reports were wrong.

i think he wants you to check back tomorrow, when we know who will be avilable. thanks again.

The two UNC DBs are players, V Green is a workout warrier (pass) and Bailey flunked every post-season test. Too small and weak for DE and too big and slow for OLB. I have no idea where he fits on our team.

Fairley is still in the mix?!?!?! good to hear! Actually I would say the same. "How to work the system" I had some real wack job professors in school who had completely illogical and untrue ideas about things. My freshman year i wrote a few great papers arguing against their bias, and got Cs, eben though they should have been As or at least B+ For the next 3 years I wrote terrible papers and got As by just agreeing with whatever crazy idea they had (one for example thought that the Japs wanted to surrender in WWII and we just nuked them for the fun of it – everyone knows that’s not true, but this guy was just a whacko) So I used almost no sources and rattled off some stupid paper in about an hour just arguing a point which he has already bought into hook line and sinker. Of course I got an A and was one of 3 or 4 kids out of over a hundred who got an A in the guys class that semester. I did almost no work and no research and got an A by playing the system. That’s all I learned from his class.

I think you will see Dareus as a BJ Raji type for us. He will prob play 5 tech and a little nose at times this year, before being a half nose guard half 5 tech and could eventually be the starting Nose. I just don’t see KW holding down the nose for the rest of his career, and Troup is expected to start at some point I would expect. Even if he does start, we will need more than 1 NG. KW and Dareus can be in the rotation at both positions, primarily on passing downs. Troupe = NG on non-passing downs. Dareus or KW = NG on 3rd and longs Dareus and KW, with some Carrington and Ewards mixed in. = 5 techs on non-passing downs Carrington and KW or Dareus = 5 techs on 3rd and longs We obviouisly cannot have all 4 on the field at once in a 3-4, but I think thats a very good rotation of players. In other news, Imagine trying to run on KW(LE) Dareus(3 tech) Troup(NG) Carrington(RE). not a bad 4 man front for short yardage.

For Those Of You Who Don't Want QB In 1st or 2nd
High Mark replied to garchat80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont see a problem with that at all. I know this has been discussed a thousand times but do we need a franchise QB? Yes, everyone agrees. Is there a Franchise QB in this draft? I say no, others say yes. So, while I want a QB, I dont want us to "waste" a pick on one. Id rather have a starting LB or DE or RT. I would rather take one next year. we have a better than 1/32 chance at Luck, and there may be a couple other top QBs. The guys in this draft just strick me a 2nd rounders. Thes best QB available is Kolb IMO, and no I dont want to trade for him. -
Of course it’s all just guessing, but I have loved Carpenter all offseason. It first looked like he might be a good pick for our 4th rounder, then it looked like our 3rd was a good pick. Recently I saw him at the end of round 2 and now this has him at the beginning of round 2. I for one think he is worth that selection but was hoping to get in with our third, just because that’s how I thought it would pan out. I cannot complain with any of those players.
-
This guy has Newton/Miller 1/2, I couldn’t be happier. I think Dareus is ours! But looking at the rest of his Mock, that doesn’t leave much for our second round pick. I was more recently hoping that Hayward, Claiborne, Taylor, Sherrod, or Carimi would fall. He has them all gone by then. Looks like BOWERS and Wilkerson are the DL who fell. Im not sure who “Williams” is at 32 either. We would have to take Bowers if available – right? No ILBS came off the board either. Rodolf still there too.

I know its draft time but thinking of all the players out there and who we could add made me realize there are so many differnt types of teams we could build. My ideal team would have a run heavy, play action based passing attack. I would love to see 2 TEs and a FB on the field on most plays, with an OL built out of enormous humans whose strength is run blocking. Ideally the OL would have Gs like Mankins and Iupati and Ts like Carimi and Oher. The QB would be mobile and be able to roll out of the pocket and bootleg well. WRs would almost be an afterthought. Late rounders like SJ and Easly and Nelson would be fine. I cannot think of a more perfect offense than the one ran by Coach harbaugh at Stanford last year. On Defense I want a huge mean D. I dont care if its 34 or 4-3 really but I feel that 4-3 is easier to fit guys into. The D would have physical freaks with great size and strength on the DL like Suh, Ngata, and Orakpo, and would clearly be the unit the D was built off of. The LBs would be built on speed and athletic ability. I know I am not a V Miller fan for us at 3, but in a 4-3, with his athlitic ability, I think he could be a good WILL on this team, next to guys like P Willis or Thomas Davis of the Raiders. the DBs would not be the focus of the team in teh draft or FA. These guys would idealy be later round picks or guys like Greer, G Wilson, or Jim Leonard. What say ye, what is your ideal Bills team?

Mine: 1- Hoping its Dareus per NGU, we will see 2- Heyward or Claybonre. I think both will be there. I like Clayborne better but Heyward prob fits our style of 34 better. 3- James Carpenter 4- Kendrick Burney, CB, UNC 4- Mark Herzlich - maybe a bit high for him but whatever, depends on his medical
-
Heres to hope that pans out as Mayock has predicted. I could see Dareus being our BJ Raji Beer smiley ( I cant find it?)

Nix for the love of all that is holy

lets assume for conversations sake that they take Newton and he busts. IMO it will take a min of 3 years to try him out then dump him. That thats us to 2014 and we still dont have a QB. Ralph may be pushing daiseys by then. I dont really have a conclusion after all that..... -
not too bad. Id like to see Wanny bring in Romeus. I think he could be a good developmental guy at DE. At best his rookie year could be like Greg Hardys was.
-
its because america is full of racists.
-
NGU - can you clarify if Newton/Dareus in your original post means Newton is 1 and Dareus is 2, or are they equal? Who would they take if they had a chance at both? Also, assuming the pick is Newton, do you know what their plan is for him? The obvious thought is that he sits for a year under Fitz, Fitz's contract expires, and he is handed the job in year two, with maybe some "Tebow" package in 2011. Has that been talked about at all?
-
Some later round guys I think people will regret passing over: -James Carpenter, OT from Bama. Could be G or T -Mark Herzlich, ILB from BC. I expect him to come back into his first round form once he is another year or two removed from cancer treatments. I have no idea how late he could go, but I bet some teams took him off their board completely because of the medical. -Kendrick Burney, CB, UNC. He was one of the guys suspended, I think would be going much higher if he had played -Greg Little, WR, UNC see Burney -Delone Carter, RB, Cuse reminds me of Ray Rice -Luke Stocker, TE, Tenn. Reminds me of Jason Witten. Leaving any rumors about him sleeping in meetings aside, I sitll think Fairley is the best player in the draft. Sounds like lots of teams will pass on him, which I bet they regret.
-
I am also hoping they see RT as a priority and even adding another G. Personally, I like James Carpenter. I think he could project to either position.

Bills' 2010 Draft-Worst in NFL?
High Mark replied to billsfreak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The pats did. And yes I agree that is pretty rediculous expectations for most teams, but considering how terrible our roster is and how high our draft slot is, I would almost expect to see 3-4 starters added this year, and I think we could have done that last year too.
