$100.000 jobs? Who is that? You would need to work 7 days a week 12 hours to make that. The most I ever made was $71,000 and they killed me that year! No time off at all!
-
I live between Ft Myers and Sarasota, no jobs here. Thanks for the response
-
I lived in Tampa, but you guys need to learn to drive. Note: Red lights mean STOP Tail gating is dangerous Turn signal are in your car for a reason. Cell phones , MP3 players and text messages tend to distract while driving The 275 is not Nascar....its just looks like it! You might have a job, but you won't be alive very long (lol)

This Country is in worse shape then GM I wonder what kind of planes the Senators , Congress and Governors fly around in? Stay tuned, CNN in hot on that story.
-
Really I work down here, and I staff new jobs from Port Charlotte I can't even hire you at $8. Sorry, no jobs
-
Man, do I love this guy or what? Nice, Mchammer I live in Florida, which is a right to work state. Nearly everyone makes $8 per hour with no Heath Insurance or pension. If you are looking for a job, stay out of Florida

Thank you for your reponses. I just hope we have a team down the Raod!

You want me to spend hours discussing the Auto intustry and I certainly could ,and that would get me nowhere with you anyway. If you want me to answer a few questions....fine You want to place blame, and that will get us nowhere. This thread is not about that. Its about losing jobs in Buffalo and saving the Buffalo Bills. What happened to the other big employers in WNY? Its not all GM, What happend to Bethleham Steel and Ingram Micro? You better take a closer look at NY State taxes and moving jobs out of the country for slave labor wages that average $3.65 and the fair trade agreement now in place
-
First of all I have been in the Auto industry for 40 years and was both hourly and salary, I worked for 7 different GM dealerships, two GM suppliers, in Syracuse and Rochester and the River Road complex in Tonawanda NY I still travel back to Buffalo, and I know exactly what the employees make. They were hired by GM as temps and they work under a 3 year contract at $12 per hour. I worked with 11,897 employees in 1972 and retired with 798. We started at $4.44 per hour and retired at $27.50 and I was the highest paid worker. The wages you see on CNN include heath care, dental, vision, and they do not reflect true actual wages Nearly EVERYONE I know is now retired and we know exactly how much they pay our replacements because 2 of them are in my family
-
This thread is not about wages and your outlook on what is fair and what is not. Its about losing the Bills with a smaller market. Get off the union garbage and the big BAD General Motors. I know more about the auto industry then you will ever know
-
Most GM workers are now making $12 per hour with no insurance an no pension. (they are contract temps) The older workers make 27.50 and I can assure the screw driver job was eliminated in 1967 Nearly everyone has retired and have been replaced with robots and computers. The older workers have problems with the new technology and have been replaced with much cheaper labor
-
Henry Ford had the only game in town back in those days, he could do what ever he wanted
-
GM employees have a Federally insured pension so you will not change that. I think the people that have already retired need to be potected or you will send most of these people into bankruptcy and forclosure and the numbers are too high. Most of the above are in their 60's and 70's and 80's and do not have the big pensions you read about Some get less then $1200 per month and they pay into their health care. You can't just send these people to the streets.

Lets get to the bottom line. Buffalo must reverse the population movement to the southern United States. If the population reduction continues, the Buffalo Bills will be gone. Some fans truly believe Jim Kelly will save the Bills and I would like to believe that too. When Ralph dies there will be a bidding war and Jim Kelly might simply back out. WE need more then one option, other then Jim Kelly and his investors.

If the UAW is gone, I hope you can live with WALMART wages. US workers are forced to compete against $3.65 wages in China and Korea. Unfortunately we live in Buffalo and have to pay taxes too! The Answer is to buy AMERICAN and tax the importers to the US or nobody will have a job.
-
Thanks for the link and if you go back a few responses you will find I said pretty much the same thing Keep in mind, the Bigger vehicles have by far the biggest profit margin
-
Thank you for the link. The problem with GM is the turn over time to retool for more popular vehicles is about 2 years. The bigger gas guzzlers will real popular in the US till gas hit $4 per gallon. American's wanted those big SUV's then changed their minds when gas went up! Now GM will tool up for smaller cars and the gas is now $1.86 in Florida and the customers will demand SUV's
-
GM workers now make 12.00 per hour with no health insurance or pension. They are contract employees and they make up 70% of the current work force. the rest have retired The figures above are not even close.
-
Gm employees now make 12.00 per hour with no health insurance or pension. The days of big money were in the 80's and 90's and early 2000. You right, I think 8.00 is fair. At that wage, they sure will not be buying season tickets The auto industry is nearly all computerized with robotics and you need some college now days
-
Kia, a low quality car sold over 365,000 vehicles in the US last year and the media calls it the WALMART syndrum. Buy garbage, then throw it away in a few years
-
Obviously the jobs are more important, but this issue should concern fans worried about losing the Bills
-
You guys know I don't post very much, but I do read nearly every thread on this board. Washington is holding discussions on what to do with General Motors. If they vote to help GM, or refuse, and drive the company to Bankruptcy, the outcome will have a major impact of jobs in WNY Either way, GM will close over half of the assembly plants. (per CNN) Today CNN reported the most effected cities should GM close plants, Buffalo NY was listed as #3. Buffalo is listed as #1 loser in the percentage of jobs versus available alternative jobs There is over 100,000 GM related jobs in Rochester and Buffalo in an area that has roughly 400,000 residents. Many experts predict Ford will be next in line for assistance and that is another 50,000 auto industry related jobs in WNY. Conrail posted a message on CNN that stated that without the auto industry, "We are out of business" Buffalo's market is already one of the smallest in professional sports and the outcome could have a major impact on the area. So, am I worried about WNY families and losing the Buffalo Bills? You bet I am! I just wanted to make you aware of what could happen while we wind down the season. I believe Ralph is paying close attention to the outcome of these meetings in Washington. Some of you are worried about winning the next 5 games, and I am worried about keeping the Bills in Buffalo. Open this link if you are looking for answers http://ionlybuyamerican.com/ LETS TRY TO FOCUS ON THE POSSIBLE LOSS OF THE BUFFALO BILLS, and get away from unfair labor costs, executive bonuses, what kind of car you drive and your hatred of unions. The Buffalo area is losing population, and some Cities would just love to bring the Buffalo Bills to their State. - Die Hard 1967
