Trade threads getting ridiculous
Not the real Gale Gilbert replied to TheBlackMamba's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Would you do Peters for 30 minutes alone with Kate Winslet? -
Steely Dan, I agree with most of your post. I think the wasted timeouts are a huge problem which is indicative of an indecisive coaching staff. The coaches do have to manage the game as well as prepare the players, so I put a little more blame on them. Regarding your statements about the journeymen SB players and the coaching staff needing to step it up in preparation. Since Jauron has never coached a superbowl caliber team, or taken a team close to one (that 13-3 team in 2001 was a quick out in the playoffs if I'm not mistaken), maybe he thinks he's doing enough as well. After 2.5 years of Jauronball, I'm convinced it's not enough. There are guys out there with that Super Bowl pedigree. Whether or not they'd come to Buffalo is another question, but they'd know what it takes to get there.

Of course. You also have an interesting name. Are you Walter Becker and Donald Fagen? -

Some team will sign him, and it will probably make them better for it. -
Why so depressed around here?
Not the real Gale Gilbert replied to devldog131's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorry, but after the 4-0 start, this was supposed to be the year that the Bills controlled their own destiny in the month of December and finally got over the hump. Any team that starts that way earns those expectations, and as fans, we were not wrong to have them. Now it's the same nonsense we've had over the last 4 years where there're with 6 games to go and the Bills have to leapfrog a bunch of other teams without the luxury of having any tiebreakers. Looking ahead at the schedule, even this week is not a given. In addition to what other posters mentioned about the Chiefs and Thigpen, the Bills have won only once at Arrowhead in the last 7 or 8 tries. Later they have to make a trip to Denver. Who thinks that they will get pressure on Cutler and cover Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal? As for the divisional games, if anything can happen, the Bills have a 12.5% chance that they win all three, all things being equal. Maybe I'll come around later in the week, but I'm still concerned about their recent history. If they couldn't reverse trends at home against Cleveland, why should we think they'll do it on the road against Kansas City? -
The "Official" Bills MNF gameday thread
Not the real Gale Gilbert replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They were playing to burn Cleveland's timeouts with points they didn't have. It was ridiculous. Every Bills coach should be aware that a 47 yarder into the wind is far from automatic at the Ralph. Jauron outsmarted himself. It's time for him to go. Find Frank Reich and convince him to coach. We need some positive karma. -
The Jets are the flavor of the month right now. I think they'll come back to being the Jets starting this Thursday. If Buffalo overtakes the Jets and the remaining standings hold, then they'll make the playoffs.

Tremendous quote from Willis. "They took our bye week, so we had to come out there and show 'em that they can throw obstacles at us and we'll just try to overcome them." -- Willis McGahee, RB, Ravens As always, a reservoir of reason. Crappy week to be a Bills fan but at least he's not around. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...mp;sportCat=nfl

This Board is Completely Bi-Polar
Not the real Gale Gilbert replied to CJPearl2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that heading into this stretch of divisional games, it was reasonable to think that the Bills would go 2-1 to stay in first. A road game isn't necessarily a bad loss, but when you turn it over 4 times you make it that much easier for the opponent (duh). Now they're in the position of having to win the next 2 to stay in first. If not, they're 6-3 and in second place in the AFC east with a poor division record, and also probably among a number of teams in the hunt for a wild card spot. I'd have taken 6-3 at the beginning of the year. But after the Chargers win I was hoping for at least 7-2, and that has become less likely. -
LOL, yet another ignorant pop star....

At least Roseanne didn't try to ornament each note. That was bad. She ain't a pop star no more. 72 yards to Owens. Beautiful throw. -

You must have had at least a decent day. Lynch with a td and Evans going above 100 yds. -

Excellent stuff. Earlier in the week I was still ragging on Jauron for being too conservative, and today I was proven wrong. Good. -
Score Predictions for Seahawks - Bills?
Not the real Gale Gilbert replied to Patience's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well done. How did Jauron follow that up? Run-run-rass-real punt. In that game, the offense contributed nothing but a field goal. 2 defensive td's and a kickoff return put the points on the board. It was an overly conservative 4th quarter defensive game plan that ultimately cost them the game. And what about all of the punts Moorman didn't fake? -

Agreed on the not to lose, bang head against wall part. Disagree on the wide open offense part. We have a conservative coach whose idea of taking a risk is shopping at Target without coupons. -
Since WGR doesn't have the competition of another sports radio network in town they can do what they want. Considering that, it's not bad. When news happens, such as Peters, they are usually on top of it and give it plenty of coverage. Larry Felser? When was the last time he has written anything relevant? "I remember going to the Parkside Candy Store to do a crossword puzzle with Mike Montier after a Sunday afternoon contest at the monolithic rockpile," and other such anecdotes are what we are subjected to. It's nice the News keeps him around, but jeez.

Fantasy Football Bills Picks
Not the real Gale Gilbert replied to Pilsner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have no Bills. I had the 3rd pick in a 12 team PPR league and I took Westbrook. Lynch was gone by the time I picked again. Otherwise, it's a Dick Jauron offense. Evans might have 4 big games this year where he gets 150 yards and at least one td. The others he'll catch 3 passes for 35 yards. It's been that way the last 2 years, and last year he had only a couple big games. Edwards will surpass 200 yards in 8 games, 250 in 4 games, and 300 in none. Hardy, if you got him late, might be worth the pick, but rookie wr's rarely put up good fantasy numbers. The Bills D can be good if special teams gets a few td's. They certainly are a threat. I almost picked them up to start in week 1 but the Crowell thing made me stick with the Jaguars. I hope wingt98's team wins the league, and that I'm dead wrong about Evans and Edwards. -

This game is a Jauron special. Seattle's offense is significantly weak. Edwards "manages" the offense, special teams give good field postition, and defense holds. Bills win 13-10. -
Week 1 vs Seattle
Not the real Gale Gilbert replied to cantankerous's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seattle offense seems very weak. Hasselbeck is good but if Burleson is his top target they're in trouble. He's failed to live up to any expectations as a #2 and #3 receiver, let alone being #1. No running game with Jones and Morris. In all, a perfect formula for Jauron. If the D doesn't lay an egg, TE can "manage" the offense and Buffalo wins 13-10 due to good field position set up by solid special teams. Seattle's D will be a good test for the offense. They should stack the line and make Edwards beat them. Would anyone else do differently? -
7-9 or worse due to QB
Not the real Gale Gilbert replied to ieatcrayonz's topic in Off the Wall Archives
There are other "experts" who think they'll do better. Others think they'll do worse. SI, in their preview, has the Bills at 9-7. Vic Carucci picked Buffalo for the wild card. What does this mean? Absolutely nothing. -
Will Jason Peters Report?
Not the real Gale Gilbert replied to A WORK OF ART's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Peters could easily sit out an extended period this season. Yes, he has to forfeit $191,000 each week, but it's not like he already has that and it's being taken away from him. He already has the money from last year, and whatever he made from 04-06, minus expenses of course. If he was financially responsible, he could wait out the entire year and still live quite comfortably. Some team, and that may be the Bills, will offer to pay him what he's looking for. If they don't want to pay him, get something in return for him and let someone else do it. I think that Buffalo should trade him. -
Meh, he got lucky against the Jets last year. That ball to Evans could just as easily been picked off. Losman's reluctance to bail on a dead play smacks of Rob Johnson. Edwards is still a relative unknown. By the end of the year the coaches and FO will know what they have with him and then move from there.
