Not the real Gale Gilbert

What's the deal with Levi Brown? Does he blow? I have heard little about his development since they drafted him. But since they didn't draft a qb this year, does that show faith in Brown? Would Devlin challenge Brown for the #3 spot if there are 4 qb's on the roster?

They guy seems like he's Ryan Leaf to me. How for does he have to fall to justify the risk? Along the same line, how far does Da'Quan Bowers have to fall to justify the risk with his injury concern? Bowers is gone.

The Vikings or Cardinals might draft a qb as well, if they finish with a worse record than the Bills. I want the Bills to beat the Vikings. I don't like Brett Favre. I know I'm in the minority on that one...

Bills are "behind" the Bengals, Lions, and Panthers in the standings. The only team that would be in the market for a qb would be the Bengals, but Palmer was a #1 overall pick and they may not be ready to cut the cord on him so soon. He was only drafted in 2003, I think. I don't think they would pick a qb with their first pick. And of the teams directly "ahead" of us - the Browns, Cardinals, Vikings, Cowboys, and maybe the Broncos- the Cardinals and Vikings could stand an upgrade at qb. As it is, I don't think the Bills will pass both of them, but they could win at the Vikings, who seem to have quit. I also think they will sneak in a division win as well. I'm happy with the wins, and I hope to see more. What will be will be, but I think when it's all over the Bills will be in a position to draft one of the top qb's.

By that standard, the Bills are better than the Cowboys. Would the Bills beat Cowboys head to head? I'm inclined to say no. Before Baltimore, I didn't think the Bills had a win on the schedule. Now, maybe the Bengals or Browns could be had, although I've gotten my hopes up about Browns games before... Say, what if the Bills went 7-2 from here and finished 7-9? Would that make fans happy? It's a different road to 7-9 than in years past, for sure.

Agreed. I felt good about that Georgia Dome game, especially after the first half. Watching the Bills give them the win by turning the ball over was brutal. You also kind of knew, that after 4 years, that the window was nearly closed for that group of guys. After wide right, I don't think there was any doubt that the Bills were the best team in the AFC and that they would get another shot. Same with Home Run Throwback. You could see the qb controversy developing before that game, and Wade Phillips was coach so you could sense that team, while loaded with defensive talent, had had it's shot(remember the year before, when Flutie fumbled on the goal line in Miami?). Different than wide right, Home Run Throwback was such an unlikely way to lose the game. Missing a 47 yd field goal happens fairly regularly and was merely the last reason the Bills lost that game, not the only reason. I actually have to choke back vomit when I think about that Mark Ingram play where pretty much the entire D had a chance to tackle him before he got the first down. The team bites right now, but while these recent losses are bad (Patriots many times, last week, MNF disasters, vs. Steelers with playoffs on the line, etc), they kind of feel comical in comparison to the high stakes games of the dynasty years. When I watched the 90's teams lose in the playoffs, I always felt like they'd lost a heroic battle. Since then, the losses feel like watching a clown riding circles on a unicycle while getting hit in the face and crotch with pies.

1989 Jim Kelly dive. 1990 regular season 24-14 win to clinch division, followed by 44-34 (I was at that game) win in playoffs. I wish Andre Reed still played. And that O-line. And those linebackers. And Jim Kelly. And Gale Gilbert.

I drafted Wes Welker in the 3rd round of a 12 team PPR league last year. I won the league (title game in week 16) in no small part due to him. The Bills, or any team for that matter, are not going to pitch a shutout each week. It's not a matter of rooting for other players against your team. It's about matchups. I had Fred Jackson last year, so that week 1 Monday Night Football game was full of fantasy goodness for me. I still can't believe the Bills lost that doggone game. Fantasy football, if you are playing for money, is a high risk, high reward investment(it's fun too, but you get the idea). Rooting for the Bills is seperate from that (although since 2000 it's been some serious hard work). As far as Spiller goes, I think Fred Jackson is too consistent a player for the coaching staff to keep on the bench. He'll get used. I'm thinking Spiller will get at most 15 touches in a game, and that includes kick returns. If I can get Spiller late in round 7 or later, then it's ok, but not as a #2 rb even in PPR. I'd still rather have Jackson in round 9 at this point. I'm in one keeper league, standard scoring, but with only 13 roster spots. I couldn't attend the live draft, and for some crazy reason Spiller wasn't drafted. I immediately picked him up off the waiver wire. I also drafted in a 12 team PPR league. Spiller went in the 6th round to a guy who already had 3 running backs. I'm offering TJ Housh to that guy for Spiller, since my running back "stable" consists of D. Williams, A. Bradshaw, T. Hightower, D. Brown, and J. Snelling. That would make Spiller my #2 back, but that particular team I feel is good at wr, qb, and te. One guy who couldn't attend the draft autopicked Jackson before he got to me in the later rounds. Did anyone ask me about my fantasy team? Lee Evans looks like a nice pick in round 10 or later. He is the Bills passing game... when Edwards doesn't check down (I care little about preseason results so far). Fantasy best wishes to all.

I like it when they fill needs. At #9, you should be able to adequately fill a need.

They can trade earlier in the 2nd round, ahead of Cleveland and Minnesota, and still get Clausen. Tebow...meh. If he's good, good for Denver. Or the Bills can stay at their spot and get some help in the trenches.

Then if they plan on using Lynch, I feel like the Bills have too many needs to justify taking a 3rd RB in a committee with the 9th pick.

Spiller is a talent, that's a given, but I hate the pick. Who wants Marshawn? There's no guarantee the Bills get rid of him. Someone wrote earlier that any leverage the Bills had in a trade is gone, and it's true. Would much rather have seen an OT. I honestly feel like Buffalo sports teams have made buffoon out of me during the last two evenings, if I haven't done it already on my own. Hopefully the Sabres don't make it three nights in a row tomorrow.

Hasselbeck wouldn't last a month behind the Bills O-line. A qb with a history of injuries would be a kernel of corn on the turd sundae that is the Bills.

I want McNabb, but I him to keep the seat warm for the next contender for QB of the future, whether it's Claussen, LeFevour, Tebow, McCoy, Flutie Jr., whoever.

I generally like CBS better than Fox, but either option isn't a really great choice. I feel like pregame shows have turned into slapstick displays of one-upmanship. I think that analysts try to insert themselves too much into the game. Simms "calling" a no-blitz before the games most important play is a great example. That happens with Buck and Aikman, too. It's worse in baseball, though for those who watch that. Buck and McCarver are incredibly hard to watch. Aren't analysts supposed to comment on previous plays, or pitches? These guys now seem to want to prove that they know what's coming. I like Al Michaels. He calls the game without the air of superiority. I don't have an opinion of Collingsworth, which means he probably does a good job in my book. Just my $.02.

I'm aware that coach airhorn was a bust in Buffalo. My point is that if you are going to be angry about not hiring Payton, then by that logic you may as well be angry about kicking Williams to the curb.

Lots of Eagles fans are dying to get rid of McNabb. Those who want to keep him play the "it could be worse" card.

Gregg Williams is a man most are toasting in NO. The Bills did have him. Does that mean they were dumb to let him go?
