  1. Buh...but.. he took the team out for a seaside walk after some cheeseburgers!
  2. In 1990, when the NFL went to a 12 team playoff format, there were a total of 28 teams in the league. Slightly less than 43% of teams in the league made the playoffs. The playoffs were fine, then. With the league's expansion to 32 teams, there hasn't been an adjustment to the playoff system. If one more wild card were added, then 14 out of 32 teams would be in. Which is 43.75% of the league. I'd be behind that move. Anything beyond that seems dumb.
  3. I have never heard a Bills fan say they wanted the team to leave.
  4. My favorite part of that clip: Tony Kornheiser and Ron Jaworski debating about the validity of the time out rule. Tony: "Is he gonna kick it again? Mike? Do you think he's gonna...." Mike Tirico (stonefaced, unsmiling in my imagination), as he begins to call the game and ignore Tony: "Dallas comes out of the timeout..." As far as worst regular season losses go, the Dallas MNF game was bad. There's still the Cleveland Browns MNF game in 2008 (against Brady Quinn), where I was sure Buffalo would win. There's the Steelers regular season game in 2004, which would have clinced a playoff berth. There's the 1994 loss to the Vikings, which would have kept the Bills in line for the playoffs. There's the 1998 loss to the Patriots, which probably cost the Bills a home playoff game. All of these games are worse than this Titans loss, the way I see it.
  5. Brad Smith would have taken a shot deep on the last drive.... Booo Fitzpatrick!
  6. The Bills, I believe, are better than the Vikings. The Vikings already beat the 49ers. Therefore, by virtue of the transitive property, the Bills will beat the 49ers.
  7. If I were GM for the next 5 minutes.... I would call the Eagles and offer the 10th pick for the 15th pick, a 3rd rounder, and Asante Samuel. If they said no, then I would ask for a 4th round pick instead of a 3rd round pick. The Eagles want to get rid or Samuel, and while he is a weirdo, he would fill a need for the Bills. What say you?
  8. I definitely believe that he belongs in the HOF. My only concern is that if he makes it this year, then what will Bills fans look forward to, discuss, and debate during next year's playoffs?
  9. At this point, should anyone be surprised over Johnson's actions? Anyone who signs him, the Bills included, know what they are getting. If this 7th round pick can rack up 1000 yards with a patchwork o-line, a QB with confidence issues, and no running game for half of the season, then he is worth retaining. If he wants $7.5 million, sign him. Think if Johnson were drafted in the first round, he would already be making $10 million. The Bills are getting 1st round production from him and can get him for cheaper than that. If he takes 2 dumb penalties next season, fine. I'll take the route running ability and the fact that defenses have to game plan for him over the antics any day.
  10. But this guy eventually dies in the poem, right?
  11. I would like to see the Broncos win it, but I doubt that will happen. I would say the Lions, but I want the Bills to win one before they do (or any other SB winless team, for that matter).
  12. 3 super bowl appearances and playoffs 7 of the first 9 years occurred in your time frame. Over the last 20 years, the Bills have been better than the Bengals, Bears, Browns, Raiders, Seahawks, and Lions, to name a few off the top of my head. So I say no, the Bills are not the worst team over the last 20 years. Last 10 years? Absolutely, you can make that argument.
  13. Everyone in the league celebrates after a TD. It's like white noise now. If Johnson's TD celebration really changed the complexion of the game, then both the Bills and the Jets need to have their heads examined. Johnson is an excellent receiver and he showed how you can beat Revis in coverage. I only heard the announcers talk about "Revis Island" once or twice. That part of the game's plot line stopped after it became clear that Revis needed help. Again, it was an untimely drop. The second of a young career, but it doesn't diminish his skill level. I want the Bills to keep him.
  14. To be fair, that drop would have gotten the Bills at least within the 5 yard line. Stevie should be criticized for the drop. Any NFL WR should be criticized for a drop like that. But they had three or four more plays afterwards. Johnson was open in the end zone for two of them. Fitz missed the throws. Brad Smith had 1-1 coverage in the end zone and could have come up with that play, albeit it wouldn't have been easy. On the last drive, Johnson didn't help, but he didn't cost them the game.
  15. Everything about Spiller is imagination
  16. Some weapons malfunction. Spiller = Leeland McElroy. Except McElroy was drafted in the 2nd round. The only Bills RB in the last 5 years that knows how to run behind that O-Line has been Jackson.
  17. Sorry about your Rangers. I'm a Phillies fan (similar to you, I went to games at Veterans Stadium starting in the late 90's and loved it) and hate the fact that the Cardinals won it all this year. I'm not sure that game 6 is exactly the same as Super Bowl 25. Norwood had no choice, he had to go out there and attempt to execute a 47 yard field goal. Even for a professional, that task has a reasonably high failure rate (around 40%). For the Rangers, the series is won if Cruz decides to sacrifice his body for that catch. It seemed like he purposefully avoided a collision with the wall, and thus allowed the tying double. My point is that if Cruz plays out of character, the Rangers win.
  18. I agree that it is dumb to use "ph" instead of "f" around here. I suppose out of towners have the same reaction in Buffao when someone writes, "Billieve" instead of believe. I have lived in Philadelphia for the last 10 years, and I am only annoyed by Flyer fans. The lack of a direct rivalry between the Birds and the Bills makes the football fans here irrelevant. I like it here, and I have found most people to be helpful. I'm a pretty big Phillies fan as well, and that loss on Friday sucked hard. The only Eagle who came into this season with an overtly cocky attitude was Vince Young, a backup QB. Most of the team tried to back away from his "Dream Team" comment as soon as it came out. Andy Reid is not a good coach. He is an offensive version of Dick Jauron with more talent on his teams. Reports are that the players love him, but he fails to make in-game adjustments, he can't seem to make the correct challenges, his time management is horrendous, and his press conferences are brutal. The thing is, with the NFC East appearing a bit weak, the Eagles can get right back into the mix with a 4 game win streak.
  19. But how will I get pumped up for Monday Night Football? Braveheart is 3 hours long.
  20. Thanks. I'll check tomorrow.
  21. I checked the 97 Rock website to see if I could hear John Murphy's calls. I couldn't find any. Do they exist? If so, where? Watched the game in a Philly bar. My brother and I and maybe one other guy were Bills fans. By the end of the game, (the Eagles had lost by then) most of the people remaining in the bar were pulling for Buffalo.
  22. I'm surprised that more people aren't mentioning the last Super Bowl loss. Bills leading coming into the second half. They insist on those shovel passes that were getting stuffed by the Cowboys, and eventually fumble the lead, and game away. I thought they would finish the job, finally. How about Ronnie Harmon in 1989? Pretty awful. Another low moment came a couple of years ago, when we drafted CJ Spiller. I yelled "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" at the TV, immediately shut it off, and went to the bar to drink. I needed to blow off some steam. Reaffirmed a belief that franchise leadership had no clue.
  23. To be fair, Spiller doesn't seem to know what to do with his feet. Huge win. I live in Philadelphia, and everyone out here is asking, "Are the Chiefs really bad this year?" Not much credit to Fitz, Jackson, and the defense. I'm not going to overreact to this pasting, but it definitely gives me confidence heading into the home opener. If they keep this going and defeat the Raiders, who knows what could happen week 3 vs. New England? Momentum can be very powerful in this league.
  24. No worries. Revis, Asomugha, and the rest of the Jets defensive backfield will have their hands so full with Lee Evans and Steve Johnson, that they won't notice the Bills nameless tight end roaming free in the middle of the field. TD city, baby. Florence, 3 years, 18 million? Too much?
  25. My teams last year were named "Purple Drank." I used various pictures of JaMarcus Russell and cough syrup as my avatars.
