Reed and Tasker among 25 Class of 2010 HOF Semifinalists

Holy cr@p. It's been 8 years since Terrell Davis retired??? Man, time flies. -
Look who's helping Eric Wood off the field
MaineMoxie replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, I still remember the Tim Krumrie one in the Super Bowl. As for TO, he's a fierce competitor and also selfish, but he's still a human being. -

Yeah, no kidding! I was shocked. -
Yeah, I'll give him that. I'd love to see Brohm actually work out because I really don't want to wait for yet another draftee to develop. I am a little disappointed they never gave Hamdan a shot, though. I was curious about his ability in a real game situation.

That's what we all do on this site. But there is something he could do. He could promote someone other than a DB. Or perhaps go scavenging on other teams' practice squads for LBs.
-
Keith Ellison goes on IR, further depleting their already thin linebacking corps, and who takes his roster spot? A DB. Maybe we should just play nothing but DBs on both sides of the ball. We have two - two! - healthy DTs and we're starting third-stringers on the O-line, but let's fill that roster spot with a DB because, you know, you never can have too many DBs. Heck, why not just play the prevent the whole game?

That's truly tragic. RIP. A good friend of mine was first diagnosed last week, spent the week at Roswell, and is already in Hospice. But there's hope on the horizon. There are some promising new treatments coming out based on nano-technologies (some being developed at UB) that could flat-out cure certain cancers.

Thurman says somethings up today.
MaineMoxie replied to Haven Moses's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, one of my students told me that Jauron grew up in the town next to his (I teach at Saint Anselm). I had no idea he was from this area. -
I think TO has met his match in Trent

Josh Reed has grown on me over the last couple of years. He's a great possession receiver. -
Good year to draft a QB near the top anyway
MaineMoxie replied to fairfaxbill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And it begins again. Every year for the past decade has been a rebuilding year. I'm sick of rebuilding years. Until regime change happens, ain't nothing gonna change, no offense to Ralph. Then you've gotta start with the front office. This FO and coaching staff could actually steer the Pats to a 7-9 season. -
Bud Adams flies the double bird at Bills
MaineMoxie replied to timstep's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hmmm. The owner of a 3-6 team flipping the bird after beating ... one of the league's worst teams. That's some accomplishment there Bud. -
I thought you weren't allowed to do that. Isn't there a rule somewhere that says you can't call successive timeouts to ice a kicker? As for DJ, I'm rapidly losing respect for Yale.

Yeah, maybe Freddy can play QB if none of the other guys works out. -
My night at the UFL game in Hartford
MaineMoxie replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's precisely the UFL's problem. They're not running it like a developmental league. Either they have to run it like a developmental league or they have to come up with some schtick - change the game slightly - like Arena football. Otherwise they're destined to fail. -
This is the WORST and boring offense in Bill's history
MaineMoxie replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And therein lies the difference. Then and in the horrid seasons between Knox and Levy the slump never lasted more than about 2-3 years. The franchise is presently in a decade-long run of mediocrity that has hit its nadir with Dick Jauron. At this point, I'd rather be blown out every game because it would be more interesting to watch. Mularkey's and Gilbride's and Pendry's offenses were infuriating at times but at least the games were often exciting. -
I don't know about that. I think (hope?) the ESPN College guys are a tad smarter than the MNF guys and may realize that this was a bit of an off year due to injuries and graduations. Not having James Starks has been a problem. And despite losing a couple of these games on ESPN2, they've been close and fun to watch. With Turner Gill at the helm you at least know you'll get an entertaining game which I would think these ESPN College guys would realize. If I still lived in Buffalo I'd have season tickets to the Bulls (of course I'm a UB graduate so I'm partly biased, but still). You have to give it a few years for UB to make a name for itself. Prior to the Bulls making the switch Buffalo hadn't had D-1A (or whatever they call it these days) football in a long time so most college football fans in the area probably have other allegiances (Notre Dame has a huge following in WNY). If UB could build itself up to the point where it could make the move to a BCS division, I think things would end up being vastly different.

8th grader suspended from school...
MaineMoxie replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Since he'd gotten in trouble for it once before (though not punished), I agree that they shouldn't have been taken by surprise. Nonetheless, it's an asinine rule. No one has any common sense anymore. This is a free country and it's a public school. Aside from blatantly offensive content, such forms of expression should not be banned. While it may not violate any legal rights (I'm not sure what kind of 'rights' people under 18 technically possess) it certainly violates the spirit of the First Amendment. -
Forbes: The Business of Football
MaineMoxie replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, I never understood that. I mean, I like some car racing (IndyCar, F1, Rally), but I never understood the appeal of watching cars drive in circles for hours. As for hockey, I don't understand the NHL's (or maybe it's just Gary Bettman's) stubborn insistence on having teams in some of these markets. I mean, maybe it was good to test the waters, but the experiment has failed. No one in Phoenix gives a rat's backside about hockey and they likely never will. But then, as the NFL is showing us, it's no longer about the fans and the game. -
ESPN: Small Crowds, Blackouts Cloud Jaguars' Future
MaineMoxie replied to DC Mom's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't count Buffalo out just yet. It's been a maddening forty years, but I see glimpses of hope. It's quietly becoming one of the East Coast's major centers for nanotechnology. Despite the numbskull politicians and bureaucrats, Bass Pro still plans to come to town supposedly. I think Jim Kelly's idea to build a new stadium in Niagara county - closer to both Rochester and Toronto - is brilliant if it weren't for the fact that we're in a recession and WNY is a notoriously bad economic region. But if the money could be found (and the bureaucrats could be cajoled into not bickering over it) I think it could work. -
ESPN: Small Crowds, Blackouts Cloud Jaguars' Future
MaineMoxie replied to DC Mom's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's what kills me. National media people always like to talk about the Bills moving and yet we have one of the most dedicated fan bases in the league. What we don't have enough of is the corporate and luxury box support I guess and in this day and age that seems to be all that matters. Jacksonville will stay put if it can sell those luxury boxes even if they only get 40k fans per game. There's something wrong with a sports league where the fans are no longer one of the key components. -
Oo, I'm impressed. The Narrow Way, Part III. Awesome song. I have a live recording from the ROIO The Man & The Journey.

Since we seem to be playing the Pink Floyd lyrics game here, Wave upon wave of demented avengers March cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. Hmmm. That might actually have some sort of weird relevance to some of the discussions on this board.

I think Russ Brandon has the makings of a politician. This is just what politicians do. They are so utterly out of touch with what the fans/voters care about but the system is set up so that there isn't much you can do about it. In politics, both parties pull the same cr@p. In the NFL, it's the same way - Ralph and Jerry are diametrically opposed but they do the same thing. The 'Boys haven't won a playoff game since 1996 but they have a brand new billion dollar stadium all thanks to marketing. I'm not sure the NFL cares about wins and losses anymore.
