It wasn't just Roethlisberger though. The MAC has a history of turning out NFL QBs, particularly in the past decade: Chad Pennington and Byron Leftwich (Marshall was in the MAC when he played there) were long-time starters and Charlie Frye and Charlie Batch are decent back-ups (note: I'm not even sure the Bills possess a decent back-up). A few other MAC QBs have gotten NFL paychecks (Drew Willy, Bruce Gradkowski, Omar Jacobs, etc.).

I don't know. As much of a pain TO can be, I really kind of wanted to see him in Buffalo with a real QB just to see what he was still capable of. Yeah, he drops a ton of passes, but he's still got some speed and height (not awesome stuff, but it would have at least been more interesting).

Weather plays a role only because the media hypes it. It's a case where even the players who have played in Buffalo think the weather is worse when it really isn't. It's all psychological and isn't a reputation the city is likely to shake any time soon regardless of how incorrect it is. That said, it is largely about money as well as media exposure (i.e. egos and more money). As with most things in this age of reality TV, these guys would rather be a star in a "glitzy" place like New York. You can thank the Jerry Jones' of the world for that. Ultimately it's at the heart of why Gary Bettman insists on keeping a dud NHL franchise like the Coyotes in a place where no hockey team has a right to be while there are perfectly supportive - but less glitzy - locales out there (God knows how those people in Columbus were able to finagle an expansion team out of the NHL).

I've lived in Maine for nine years and gotta say that the attitude is not restricted to football. We call them M!@#$s for a reason (and they're so proud of it that someone from MA actually has it as a vanity plate on his massive SUV that he drives around at 150 mph, getting pissed at people for being in his way). While many a Mainer is a Pats fan, most of the obnoxious ones are from MA.

Actually, when they ran the K-Gun they actually ran the ball 60% of the time, if I recall. Not exactly smashmouth, but not exactly pass-happy either. I think it was a good mix.

Yeah, it's too bad the Bills didn't either give him a shot instead of Fewell or at least given him an interview. I'd say the guy at least earned that much.

I don't condone what he did but I do think the responses from some people on this board are disgusting and downright scary. With that said, having read that article through, it seems pretty clear to me that he's one seriously disturbed dude. I have OCD so I know a lot of normal people have it, but when you're an über-neatfreak and you're super-quiet and no one knows a lot about you, it just screams 'mentally disturbed' to me. It's unfortunate, but I think there's more going on in Marvin Harrison's head than anyone really knows and it's not all good stuff. And it has nothing to do with him being a thug like Lynch or Iverson. Something just ain't right "upstairs."

I had a post on here about this awhile back. He had one losing in season in Green Bay (his last) during which Javon Walker, Ahman Green, and Bubba Franks all went on IR early in the season. He was OC in Houston in 2007 when they improved to 14th from 28th in the league. He's only been at A&M for two years. His first year was terrible partly because he finished out the previous season with Houston and missed out on some of the recruiting prospects. He finished 6-6 this year.

Yeah, I noticed it too. I would have been incredulous that the announcers didn't even mention it on the slow-motion replay, but Joe Buck's an idiot so I guess I'm not all that surprised. Plus, if Tim Donaghy is right, the refs in all the major sports leagues are biased against certain teams based on how much money the league wants to make (and, despite their universal popularity, the Packers are small market...).

The Bills could also ask Carolina for permission to talk to Fox if they were that interested. I can't see why Carolina would refuse since it might solve their problem for them (they can get rid of Fox without paying the final year of his contract).

Yep. They're almost as bad as those nutjobs out in the California legislature. It ticks me off. UB's battling them to change a law that would not only help UB but WNY in general and those idiots can't see beyond the end of their very short noses. So I'd believe it if the state screwed something like this up (not that it would happen anyway since the NFL would never allow it).

Dude, I live in New England and even with the biased reporting around here Belicheck *still* comes off as whiny. He's a total scumbag. He reminds me of a couple of punks I went to school with who would sweet-talk their way out of everything or have their parents step in if they couldn't. And all the damn Pats* fans are ridiculously whiny too.

Dude, Cowher's not going to the Texans. They just beat the Pats with 21 fourth quarter points. This is their first winning season in club history. Kubiak's not going anywhere.

And there's the catch - he needs a good QB coach. If the Bills managed to get Tebow his success would be largely dependent on who Nix picks for HC (and thus who that HC hires as QB coach). It makes me wonder what TE would have been like if he'd had the right coach to pull him out of the funk he's been in since he took that concussion in the Arizona game - or if he'd been on a better team.
