  1. I said awhile ago on here that we should look into running some kind of triple option/über wildcat formation with CJ, Fred, and Marshawn in the backfield at the same time. Both CJ and Fred can throw.
  2. Yeah, and what about Shaun Alexander? With 32 teams, the NFL is not as deep in talent as they like to think they are and yet they seem to be more interested in youth these days no matter how raw the talent level.
  3. Did you watch the highlight video? He threw for a TD so who knows? Hell, we could just have CJ and Fred running around tossing the ball to each other. And who needs an OL when you run like that?
  4. OK, I just watched the Spiller highlight video on YouTube and I've totally changed my mind. Holy cr@p. Is there anything this kid can't do?
  5. Holy cr@p. I haven't seen many Clemson games in recent years so I haven't had the full CJ Spiller experience. Let's just say I'm no longer rationalizing this pick. Damn, that kid is fast - and he can play WR and he even threw for a TD! I think Fred and CJ will be a sick combo even with a weak line (just remember, the Packers potentially had an even weaker line - so it ain't only about the line).
  6. But what about some kind of wildcat/triple option? I wasn't completely kidding. Would it work? Or is the NFL too conservative to try something crazy like that?
  7. Yeah, like how to get the image of your avatar out of my head...
  8. Winning in the NFL isn't about drafting for need???
  9. I'm just thinking out loud here trying to rationalize why we would take Spiller in the first round with Fred and Marshawn on the team and (supposedly) not being interested in trading Marshawn. What if Gailey's thinking about some wildcat-like scheme where, on a chunk of the plays (not all, obviously), they go with Fred under center with Spiller in the backfield? Fred's done it before and had more TD passes than Brohm last year (1). Marshawn acts as backup or you could convert him to FB. It could explain the desire to have three RBs. Of course, it could also be that Ralphie is really calling the shots (which I believe) which have become seemingly more random over the years...
  10. ???? Reed was one of the more sure-handed of the Bills receivers. He was great in the clutch and really started to come into his own in the past few years, going over the middle for catches. Frankly, I'd have rather seen them get rid of Hardy.
  11. That's one place I seriously disagree with you. Too many players make the pro bowl based on how much publicity they get.
  12. Sorry, I stand corrected. My bad on Levitre. I also agree that we shouldn' trust a single source. Notice that I said "assuming profootballfocus.com has accurate" data. Data is way too easily manipulated so I, personally, don't put too much faith in it. Evaluating talent is very, very hard and there are so many subtleties to it.
  13. The question is whether Peters is overpaid period (meaning no one is worth that money) or overpaid based on his expected performance and, ancillary to that, did the Bills come out winners or losers in the trade. Assuming for a moment that ProFootballFocus.com has accurate rankings (I'm making no judgment either way), then Philly did overpay for him simply because he was expected to be much better. Nevertheless, he still ranked way ahead of any of the Bills linemen (Hangartner was the Bills highest ranked lineman as the 27th best center). Since Levitre and Wood were rookies, I think it's unfair to judge this trade just yet. Now, I wouldn't be surprised if the Bills get hosed in the end, but I'm still reserving judgment until I see if Levitre and Wood can pick it up a notch. Incidentally I find it interesting that our "big free agent" signing on offense so far has been Cornell Green who, according to these rankings, isn't much better than what we have (and note that Michael Oher ranked one behind Peters at 19).
  14. I find it a little odd that they're announcing this before the draft. This is why the NFL ends up with duds for primetime games sometimes. They pick the matchups way too early.
  15. Exactly. I don't care what other teams' doctors said. If Cappuccino says he's good to go, I trust him. You always take a risk and it's entirely possible DE will get injured again, but it's also entirely possible I'll win the lottery (though the odds of DE getting an injury are much higher).
  16. Yes, but that's one of the major drawbacks of the 4-3. Unless you play it perfectly and you have the right kind of players, once a RB gets past that front 4 he's as good as gone. With a 3-4, you can put some bulkier LBs (e.g. Schobel if he doesn't retire and decides to switch to LB) back there and you have a second line of defense, so-to-speak.
  17. Yeah, because spending time learning something is such a waste of time.
  18. Yeah, because who needs teachers anyway? Hell, who needs doctors or police officers or firemen for that matter?
  19. Yeah, I thought that was hysterical. They just hosted the Super Bowl. Doh!
  20. Dude, chill out. I think people just don't like the uniforms.
