  1. Gotta go with this one. Ratso Rizzo? All-time great character. Incredible movie. I think you have to use the word "hereby" when you're doing that. Also I'm told we can't do this till next week. Something about odd and even weeks.
  2. Isn't that a Tai Chi movement? Hmmm, perhaps Mime Academy?
  3. That's not really the point at all. Nor is this. The point is not that the kid went out drinking or that he isn't legally permitted to so. The point is that there's a possibility that the kid has a drinking problem. He's previously been arrested for disorderly conduct and possessing a fake ID after a night of drinking and now this chapter where he was unable to fulfill a rather simple obligation that had very little cost and pretty good benefit. It's particularly telling that he went out drinking after the Mannings sent him home. The kid needs to straighten his act out.
  4. He was 88 years old when succumbing to cancer. Makes you wonder how long he would have lived had it not been for cancer.
  5. He's a season ticket holder. That's not good enough? He drives over 400 miles to attend games. One-way.
  6. I'm a prolific writer. If it's not here it's other places, emails, etc. I type fast and I type often. I find that it's good mental exercise and also relaxing. BTW, it's weird that you would do the math on my history here. Especially the part about calculating the days. I see that you also are weird.
  7. I always go to this site to watch prospects. http://draftbreakdown.com/players/ej-manuel/ Sadly (I don't know if it's due to server space or what) it seems like they've deleted some of their videos. They only have 7 of his complete games and 2 of them are from 2011. Also here's his worst performance from last year, the game against Florida: One other thing I factored into judging EJ was the fact that he played with very few talented offensive weapons over the course of his career. It seems to me like he really carried the offense and made the players better than they were.
  8. First of all let me say that this whole thing is totally hilarious. But on a serious note, here's the thing in a nutshell: Two of the pilots names were released two days after the crash so about 5 days before this mistake was made. THE MEDIA ALREADY HAD TWO OF THE PILOTS' NAMES FOR NEARLY ONE WEEK!!! Then, the station called to get the names verified which begs the question "Who gave them the names in the first place?" And another thing. It's not necessary for the news media to be conversant on surnames and which names belong to which cultures but exactly how stupid do you have to be to actually believe these names? Finally, how many levels of accountability failed here? New Director, Producer, Assistant Producer, anchor, intern… From a professional standpoint this was just as egregious an error as crashing the plane in that something like this should never happen. In each case, multiple people failed at their jobs. Thank goodness no one was killed by this mistake (except hopefully a few careers). The intern at the NTSB was fired but someone at KTVU should be fired too, just for being a freaking moron.
  9. I really can't believe no one has brought this one up. A professional QB missing the catcher both way short and way wide.
  10. Ten years ago? That's probably about the last time I was there. I'm sure it's still terrific though although it sounds like they might have expanded/remodeled or something? The place used to have some real authentic charm. You should definitely do a drive-by of the stadium. There's a Bills store right at the stadium. It's open from 10am to 4pm Monday thru Saturday. http://www.shopthebills.com/location-and-events.aspx And if you're gonna go to the stadium (and if you didn't, that would be kind of ironic) you really should stop in The Big Tree for wings. Possibly instead of Bar-bill if it's a toss-up. The top three places are not only cheap and easy but they're also historically significant Buffalo eateries for what they are. Tons of Bills fans eat at Teds and Mighty Taco so don't you dare go to a McDonalds or Burger King or whatever… pay a little bit more and eat at one of these trademark Buffalo eateries instead.
  11. The two places I would start with are in Buffalo's Southtowns not too far from the stadium. In East Aurora is the Bar-Bill Tavern. Great wings and beef on weck, great service, great atmosphere. Their small but respectable offerings of draft beers are served in icy mugs. A lot of former and present Bills drop in here from time to time. And East Aurora is a pretty cool little town. No credit cards though. Not too far from the Bar-Bill and right outside "The Ralph" in Orchard Park is the legendary Big Tree Inn, another players hangout with really good food and comfortable ambience. I would consider this a good start for your Bills-centric roadie. Have a great time and be safe.
  12. After a one month hiatus, Peter King is back at work with his NFL columns and the main story in this weeks MMQB is a close look at the Johnny Manziel fiasco at the Manning Passing Academy. There were 1200 high school QBs at the camp and Johnny was supposed to be the celebrity instructor for a group of them. Long story short, on Thursday night Johnny was seen out drinking and showed up late at the Manning camp on Friday morning. Friday night he was not seen in the bars but he was an unexcused no-show at the camp on Saturday. He later told the Mannings that he wasn't feeling well. At that point he was told to go home. Saturday night back home in college station and Johnny is spotted out in a bar. Sunday his Dad tells the media that he left the Manning camp because he was "recovering from dehydration" conveniently avoiding the question of how he became dehydrated. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/nfl/news/20130715/johnny-manziel-aaron-hernandez-monday-morning-quarterback/?xid=nl_siextra
  13. That sounds right and I'm surprised a future Hall of Famer would allow himself to be treated that way. If I recall, he did eventually sign a multi-year deal with the Seahawks but 3 consecutive years of franchise tenders sounds about right.
  14. I appreciate it Chris but there's no telling who's right about Manuel. I have a conviction about the guy but obviously that's no guarantee that he'll turn out well. It won't be long before we find out though! edit: And EA really is a very knowledgeable fan so there's that too.
  15. I dunno… I guess I respect your statue as a person.
  16. Kelso's wrong I believe. There are probably price indexes (indices?) for metropolitan areas as well as states but I can tell you that as high as CA taxes are, NYS taxes are higher. The state income tax is higher in NYS and the property taxes are multiple times higher. While property tax rates fluctuate, the property taxes on a $90,000 house in Buffalo in 2002 were higher than the property taxes on a $550,000 house in San Jose, CA. There are some things cheaper in Buffalo (property values) but on balance there's not a big difference in cost of living, IMO. And certainly not a 33% difference like Kelso was portraying.
  17. DC Tom just used one at TSW that we've seen once or twice. It's a "mute" point.
  18. The interesting point of this story is that Russell was so wasted that he ran into a police car. I believe Russell blew a .24, about 3 times the legal limit and really it's amazing that he could function at all. Then after all the fallout from that debacle it was revealed that Heckert had also been arrested for DUI weeks earlier. I believe he blew a .17 (more than twice the legal limit) even though his breathalyzer test was taken 7 hours after he was arrested. Makes you wonder why the breathalyzer took so long and why the Heckert arrest was never announced. Then it was revealed that one of the Broncos players recently had a DUI arrest which went unreported at the time. So the Broncos are talking tough now but up until a week ago they were trying to sweep this stuff under the carpet until the Russell arrest blew everyone's cover. The Broncos are in crisis control because everyone now knows they were trying to appear tough when they were actually being permissive.
  19. While I have a great deal of respect for your personally formed opinions of players, none of the links you posted carries any weight with me. To me, Kiper knows zero. His entire career is a mystery to me. The last one you linked is a quote from Chris Trapasso I believe. Trapasso's an amateur working in Yahoo's equivalent of the Bleacher Report. Walter Football is not credible to me. I really have no explanation for the somewhat lukewarm consensus on EJ but when I vetted him, watched every play from about a dozen games, read all the articles, saw his interviews, watched his workouts, I couldn't understand why he wasn't the top rated QB in the draft and I couldn't see why he wasn't considered a blue chip prospect. But lo and behold he was the first QB taken. The question is if the Bills didn't take him would he have still been the first QB taken? I believe so. I believe he's the best QB in this draft and I'm glad the Bills took him. Being able to trade down and still pick him is a bonus and I can't wait to see EJ play.
  20. I thought there was a new policy that everyone gets their own personal Byrd thread?
