Byrd Skipping mandatory mini-camp
San Jose Bills Fan replied to mitchmurraydowntown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And on the other hand, Parker's commission is based on his client's contract so if the Bills made the best offer he would advise his client to take it. That said, unless the Bills turn things around, it's possible his client wouldn't want to sign with the Bills. I don't believe Mario really wanted to sign with the Bills but between them offering the most money and practically abducting him, he almost had no choice. -
The fallacy of the NFL sack leaders
San Jose Bills Fan replied to Ramius's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for doing the research, Ramius. Interesting stuff as it confirms what I've often thought about sack meisters. It would be interesting to chart pressures too. Also the great pass rushers always seem to be a factor, even when they're doing nothing more than drawing double teams. FWIW, Mario had 7 sacks in the last 9 games and had sacks in 5 of those 9 games. All of these games came after his wrist surgery. Interestingly he had zero sacks in the last 3 games. -

This is what I've been drinking lately. Quick kinda funny story. My wife and I went down to Paso Robles to meet some friends. I was on my Hendricks kick which is a recent thing. We went out for a night cap at a place called Estrella which had just opened. All the other bars in the town square wouldn't serve us but Estrella welcomed us with open arms. Turns out it was their opening night. Also turns out the owner spotted my red Mitchell and Ness Bills cap with the white standing Buffalo. Turns out the owner is from Buffalo. There's a lot to the story that I won't bore you with but this is her second restaurant in the area and the place is beautiful with great food and drinks. I got to talking with their bar manager. I told him I'd been drinking Hendricks lately and expressed how I'd never tasted a gin that was so flavorful. He said one of the aromatics Hendricks uses is cucumber. I hate cucumber. If someone cut a cucumber 100 feet away from me I'd smell it within ten seconds. My wife who has an unbelievable palette and nose (she can identify ingredients in food all the time) agreed with me that there was no cucumber in the Hendricks. However the people at Hendricks state that among other ingredients are Bulgarian Roses and cucumber. There is no moral to the story and sorry to bore you. -
Buffalo Bills Training Camp: 7/28/2013
San Jose Bills Fan replied to Mike32282's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As always Mike, thank you very much! I was thinking this morning that it would be great to see one of your training camp reports and when I got home from work, lo and behold! Even though it's non-contact, this is in keeping with a theme that Hughes established in the offseason workouts. While he's been considered a disappointment in Indy, the bottom line is that he was buried behind Freeney and Mathis for most of his career. I find it very interesting that he got 4 sacks last year, all in his 6 starts. He did play in 10 other games as a reserve and had zero sacks in those games. Whatever the case with him, he was a first rounder that teams graded as a first rounder because of his pass rush skills. Bottom line there's no way he's a worse player than Kelvin Sheppard and there's a good chance that he's a much better player than Sheppard. Whaley said he was excited about Hughes so hopefully this kid is one of the year's big surprises. -

One other thing I remember about that game is Rob Johnson not being man enough to shake Flutie's hand at the end of the game. At the final gun Johnson ran off the field even faster than he used to run out of bounds for a loss. On third and two.

To me, found money is someone already on your roster (in your pocket, in your closet, in your drawer) you're not counting on to contribute because you've virtually forgotten all about him. Then lo and behold, he's a contributor on the final 53. Easley would also be "found money."

Holy Crap! Great memory Chas! My buddy worked in a restaurant and someone had left behind a real nice Buffalo Sabres cap. After a few weeks of it going unclaimed he brought it home for me figuring I'd like it being a Sabres fan and all. Only problem was it had the big, bold, letters BS emblazoned across the front. I might have worn it once.

Romanowski was one of the more interesting players of his time. Very polarizing to say the least. Excellent player. Complex human being. Thanks for the link. Speaking of which, Romanowski was known to regularly take his own stool samples and have them evaluated at a laboratory in order to analyze his diet and supplements. Among other things he wanted to know if he was eating well.
