  1. Actually even on Luck's short completion there was pressure. I wouldn't call that series "timid" jboyst. Not compared to Jauron and Wanny.
  2. Even though the roster is hovering near 90 players, as is the case with many of you there are at least 70 players who I'm familiar with in some way. So even when they get down to a mix of 2nd and 3rd stringers in the 2nd half, there will still be plenty of players and storylines which I'll find interesting. Also as Marrone stated, he wants his players to play aggressively and win the game and as we all know, it's always a bonus to win the game. I don't care if we win a close game or win in a walk but I would like to see a win. Considering Indy is a playoff team it would make for a nice kickoff to the preseason.
  3. This is one of the best posts in this topic. You need a good baseline performance, a floor performance in order for the rest of the team to function properly and be evaluated properly. Everyone's getting a bit ahead of themselves with Jeff Tuel. Would it be a surprise if he outperformed some of the drafted QBs from his class? No. But he's still an undrafted free agent and people are not being realistic in their views of him, IMO.
  4. Don't you wish that one or more of the people who cover the team would ask this question… this question that we've been asking on this board for weeks? As zazie says, injury.
  5. Your last sentence is a bit incomprehensible. Can you try again? I'm one of Cordy's biggest fans. That said it's possible that he's struggling. And yes, it's also possible that Hughes is having a great camp. In about two hours we'll start getting meaningful data to address these and other concerns.
  6. See, these are the kind of unfunny, snide, useless comments for which you're known. If you eradicated these you would greatly benefit yourself and the board as a whole. Comments like these make readers overlook your objective and insightful posts.
  7. They have 3 good young running backs in Ridley, Vereen, and LaGarrette Blount who is the thumper in the group. Blount also has good speed.
  8. Absolutely Bowery. They're missing 4 of their top 5 receivers from last season and they'll likely play the opener without their two athletic tight ends from last year. On the other hand, their O-line is young and improving and they have 3 good, young running backs. Also they have no one to stretch the field on the entire roster. Belichick is going to try to win games the way Parcells used to. The Bills run D is going to have a very stern test in week one and I hope Branch, Carrington, Dareus and company are up to the task. edit: Tomorrow's game against the Colts will be a good test for the run D too. The new Colts OC is Andrew Luck's former OC from Stanford and they've made no secret of the fact that they want to pound the rock much more than they did last year. Also the Colts plan on using the double tight end formation quite a bit and using Vic Ballard as their battering ram.
  9. Time has yet to finish that story. Certainly he drafted tackles and not guards. In Nix's first draft he took two tackles (Ed Wang and Kyle Callaway) and zero guards. In his second draft he took one tackle (Chris Hairston) and zero guards. In his third draft Nix took two tackles (Cordy Glenn and Zebrie Sanders) and one guard (Mark Asper). In his final draft Nix drafted no offensive linemen. The final tally is 5 tackles and 1 guard drafted. Three of those tackles remain on the team. While I think it's unlikely, one or all of those tackles may end being switched to guard. So I would say Nix stayed true to his philosophy of not drafting guards and in fairness to Nix, he didn't make the lineups so he had no control of where these players ended up playing.
  10. Actually Nix said on several occasions that you draft tackles and move them to guard.
  11. Not that NFL rules are in the democratic and public domain because they aren't. It's not a big deal to me but it is interesting. As the starting point of a discussion, what actually are the rules and what is the rationale behind the rules? I could see for instance if the NFL stated that "facemasks shall not exceed _______ ounces because to do so would create more force in collisions" then everyone could see the reasoning and common sense behind the rules. However the NFL without comment has ruled against certain facemasks and in favor of others without revealing the underlying logic and rationale. It's exactly because of this that the NFLs critics can accuse the league of being the "No Fun League" and being fascistic against individual expression.
  12. Not good. In 11 practice sessions, five different players have manned the outside spot opposite Gilmore. McKelvin is having issues with the groin that wasn't surgically repaired. Definitely the team's biggest area of concern.
  13. I'll have my small bitter drink from the shot glass of defeat…
  14. Yeah I suspect this is the Ray Bentley/Mitch Frerotte face paint issue all over again. I was against the NFL on that one too.
  15. Though I doubt that this addendum you speak of is legally ironclad, I see that justice on this site is dead and that attempts to resuscitate are pointless. However let me warn you that karma's a B word, especially for denigrators of Division III stadium capacities. Or you know, whatever.
  16. Measurables? Just kidding. http://www.buffalobills.com/fans/billsbackers/backer-locator-map.html Looks like: Rivalries Sports Pub and Grill 10 Cotton Street Portland, Maine (207) 774-6044 I'd call the place first though to avoid any surprises.
  17. Next you're gonna say that it doesn't matter how many people attend practice sessions.
  18. Yep. Regardless of the fact that he didn't play, the very existence of Grossman on the roster casts doubt on the idea that a coach would feel comfortable going into the season with only two rookie QBs. I'm trying to recall if any team ever went into a season with just two rookie QBs.
  19. Just to play devil's advocate, if a new facemask design conforms with NFL safety standards, why shouldn't they be able to be used?
