  1. Good work. I would draw a distinction between teams which are running a no huddle or fast-paced offense versus a conventional team that racked up that many plays simply because their opponent couldn't stop them.
  2. Roundup (the Bills actually practiced today): http://www.buffalobills.com/media-center/videos/Bills_Roundup_Kolb_Getting_Closer_Mon_Highlights/c6d9d0d3-1ac4-4cc7-8d68-70728639c127 Bills Focus: Rookies http://www.buffalobills.com/media-center/videos/Bills_Focus_Rookies_Step_Up_Against_the_Colts/b5c013a1-8bb7-4b02-8d8e-2d00b300ac86 Marrone presser (he speaks about Alan Branch): http://www.buffalobills.com/media-center/videos/Doug_Marrone_Monday_Press_Conference/38d625a0-4e24-423b-a99e-7797b26b2713 EJ's presser (talks about being "pushed" by Tuel): http://www.buffalobills.com/media-center/videos/EJ_Manuel_Monday_Press_Conference_/327cf832-f0fb-43e7-8ad0-5824388fa424 Kolb's presser: http://www.buffalobills.com/media-center/videos/Kevin_Kolb_Monday_Press_Conference/9eb192f2-64be-42dc-bc0c-809139eb4218
  3. I would put money on the fact that no teams last year or this year other than the Bills and Eagles ran over 80 offensive plays. This is a new trend and there are 3 teams at the forefront. The Cheatriots***, The Bills, and the Eagles. To the OP's question, the Bills have been practicing this way too. So the extra snaps that accelerate the development of the younger players is happening in practice too, not just in games. I think you'll see more and more teams head down this road.
  4. I hate that fat, obnoxious !@#$. There ain't no room on the bandwagon for fat, ugly people like Sap_.
  5. Ye Ole, the worst thing I can say about this defense is that if they go down, they'll go down swinging. That alone is a refreshing change.
  6. Just googling around it looks like any player with less than 4 years accrued service must pass through waivers. Also a player apparently has to clear waivers before being placed on the practice squad. http://www.dailynorseman.com/2010/8/27/1653844/cutdown-day-approacheth-how-the http://insidefootball.com/2013/07/22/a-review-of-roster-designations-eligibilities/
  7. Yeah but the Bills ran the ball nearly 40 times. I didn't see the play I was talking about. Is that so? I didn't know that.
  8. Did I say Rogers had earned it? Did I say Rogers was impressive? I'm glad you found the link I provided to be useful. It's the exact reason I posted it. Again I'm feeling forgiving of the guy and I'm more than happy to give him 3 more weeks to prove his worth… as opposed to those who want to excoriate him for a play that no one can really say he messed up on.
  9. 1) There is a waiver claim order. If one player is cut, only one team will get that player. 2) If you trade for a player (even if it's a conditional 7th rounder) you ensure that you get that player and don't leave it to chance.
  10. Coach Tuesday and Kirby Jackson have suggested that Brad Smith might have some trade value. I don't think that's far-fetched at all.
  11. To the bolded above, I don't recall anyone else suggesting this so kudos to you. Trading Brad Smith makes a lot of sense. He of all the Bills wideouts (and yes, Stevie is a lock and a valued player) might have some trade value and if the preseason plays out the way it looks like it may, there's gonna be a logjam at wideout.
  12. Good to see you posting again. I know you've been lurking over the last few weeks. Better that you post. One flaw I see with the Bills O from yesterday is that they don't do enough deep handoffs/pitches. That is Freddy's forte, attacking the line from deep in the backfield and choosing a lane. CJ is also good at this. They need to get the RBs the ball a bit deeper in the backfield. JMO
  13. Jim Irsay was 25 years old when his dad, Colts Owner Robert Irsay moved the team. Did Jim have a public profile at that time?
  14. On the other hand, DBs routinely drop easy pop flies right in their hands. Didn't Searcy drop a certain INT yesterday or was it someone else? Butler made a great play and had an outstanding game. Very good. I'm mystified that people are criticizing the NFL Network's coverage. It was the Colts Broadcast Network. Now if someone wants to criticize the NFL Network for carrying the Colts broadcasters, that would be a different… and valid criticism. And yes, in fairness, they actually started talking about the Bills and were highly complimentary for at least one half. On the other hand I've seen it mentioned nowhere today that EJ had a TD pass to Fred that didn't come to fruition because Sheppard got away with defensive holding. Dude, is that lavender or thistle in your avatar? What's happened to you? You're not gonna debut a new look at the home opener are you? No more Stetson?
  15. Both the play where Tuel re-positioned Easley and the one in which he re-positioned Rogers were plays which spoke well of Tuel and his command of the offense. But those plays don't necessarily reflect poorly on the receivers. QBs will re-position players after the initial formation is called for various reasons. What Tuel did to Rogers could be viewed as analogous to Mario Williams' vain attempts at getting Dareus to move over more into the gap on that much-discussed play. Why so serious? JK. You and eball make some good points but I'm feeling forgiving of Rogers. With good coaching and tough love, he could "get it" at some point. Sometimes it's a process and not a moment. BTW, kj posted this link in another thread and it breaks down all the players by snap counts. You get to see how many plays Da'Rick played relative to the other wideouts: http://www.buffaloru...ams-snap-counts
  16. It's a close call as to who was worse, their on-air guys or the production crew. No exaggeration they must have missed parts of a dozen plays. Didn't the Indy crew also miss the second half kickoff?
  17. Great link. Thanks! For those of you who haven't clicked on this link, it's worth doing so. There's some discussion and advanced stats for Crezdon Butler, Jumal Rolle (he of the outstanding pick six), Doug Legursky, and Colin Brown. I don't put tons of credence in advanced stats but they're always interesting to see.
  18. It's a serious business. I'm sure Pagano had a sleepless night and I'm sure there's concern in the Indy camp. In moments of honesty, they know they're not as good a team as their record indicated last year. I think they're also very apprehensive about the loss of Bruce Arians, offensive genius and interim coach extraordinaire. The no-huddle is the Bills base offense. It's what they've been running all camp. They've been talking about it non-stop. It's been talked about in the media. I understand the Colts' amateurish TV crew not expecting it but if the Colts football club didn't expect it, then they're more incompetent than they showed themselves to be yesterday. The Colts should have been expecting the Bills no-huddle offense.
  19. People are ignoring the fact that the Brooks-induced fumble was an "earned" turnover, not a cheap one. That makes it a win for the defense however you cut it up. It doesn't detract from Luck's play but it certainly gives the Bills D the win on that series. The Bills D also won the opening series against Luck. On a different point, games have ebbs and flows, they are not two-series snapshots. Bottom Line: The Bills young starters playing new systems in a game for the first time, went on the road against a wild card team and held their own. Can anyone argue that? Or shall we continue with the ridiculous and meaningless splitting of hairs?
  20. So 85 posts in and you've changed your username? That's interesting.
