  1. Anyways, my earlier erroneous choice was based on my firm belief that EJ is a franchise QB and that the Bills only need an infusion of talent to get to the promised land. However the scenario stipulates an expansion team and not the Bills. And now (if I understand correctly) I can pick any QB that has played since 1998 however that QB is a rookie. So that brings us back to Steve Young, John Elway, Dan Marino, Troy Aikman, Brett Favre and Kurt Warner territory because all of those players were still active in '98. I guess I'll go with choice 3 and take Doug Flutie. :D
  2. I wasn't at that epic Bills-Cowboys MNF game a few years back. Mrags said it was totally off the hook. That said, I agree with you that because of all the personal electronic devices, crowds just aren't as noisy as they used to be. It'll get worse with the NFL stadiums catering to WiFi and all that.
  3. I know it wasn't directed at me but I think the Bills will be around 10th in yards and points allowed but I think they'll be Top 5 in takeaways and defensive scoring.
  4. I bought a dry-aged steak from Alexander's and we grilled it for dinner tonight. It made me think of you. And what a jerk you are.
  5. It's pretty bad. People posting instead of reading through. Having to repeatedly post things that were clearly stated earlier in the thread. Best post in a bad thread. The "media professionals" are all scrambling to cover their asses because they don't know what's going on. They're repeating each others' reports like message board posters repeating rumors.
  6. Your first sentence above seems kind of like an insult. As to your second sentence, I had already explained it once: He was addressing "thefootballexpert" and agreeing with you.
  7. The truth could be that Byrd wants to be traded. However the truth remains that he has never openly stated he wants to be traded.
  8. The AFC is wide open this year and any number of teams could surprise. As far as teams which people view as good who will backslide, I nominate the Houston Texans. The biggest thing they have going for them is that they play in the NFL's weakest division. However talent-wise they've treading water for years, they're led by a head coach and a quarterback who have a proven track record of not doing anything, and some of their biggest offensive stars are past their prime.
  9. For calmly stating that Homey was irresponsible and wrong for saying "openly stated?" No. Not harsh. Byrd has not made any public statements asking for a trade. As such, he's not "openly stated" anything. This is a black and white issue. Homey has good opinions as a rule but his obstinance and insistence that he is right when he is wrong is to put it nicely, mystifying. Just because Homey usually has good takes and you happen to agree that Byrd wants out doesn't make Homey's statement any less wrong. Having his agent negotiate through the press is not the same thing as "openly stating that he wants to be traded." The problem with an irresponsible statement like Homey made is that people take it and run with it and something that never happened suddenly becomes something that happened. Why not just say "In my opinion, Byrd and his agent are working towards getting Byrd traded." Stating that something that never happened is a factual event is inaccurate at best.
  10. Did he mention anything about standing for the national anthem?
  11. He then had the car restored and provided trauma counseling for the puppies.
  12. On the other hand, leadership means very little if the quarterback doesn't have the ability to be successful from a physical standpoint. Take Fitz for instance. I think everyone would say that he was a good leader. But great leaders first have to be great players or they lack credibility.
  13. Oops. Sorry. I read the poll question but didn't carefully read the explanation about it being an expansion scenario. I'll re-think this for a bit.
  14. Disagree. The Cheatriots*** have won multiple Super Bowls and appeared in others under their present coach and are still viewed as one of the league's premier franchises. The Dolphins and Jets are virtually in the same boat as the Bills. And you don't think Marrone and staff aren't motivated to beat the great Belichick in their first NFL game as a staff? I think the intensity will be just as intense for the team as for the fans.
  15. I never saw a saw that saws quite like that saw saws. (speaking of wood piles)
  16. Plenty of people are talking about the Carolina game in the Chris White thread.
  17. Like Werder and Rappaport, you're speculating. Your quote was that Byrd "has openly stated he wants to be traded." He has not said anything publicly so for you to post something like this is irresponsible and also, wrong.
  18. Looks like the OP could ask the question in the comments section.
  19. Different draft though. I'm judging Spiller relative to his classmates. And even then, I'd take Spiller over Orakpo although it is a close call.
  20. I'd sooner brandish a thunderstick than a vuvuzela although I have to admit the first time I heard a stadium of vuvuzelas I thought it was eerily cool.
