  1. As a gentle admonishment to a good poster, you should always withhold from any opinionating until you actually watch the game. It's an important ethic. You didn't see any of the numerous good/great plays EJ made that would counterbalance bad plays he had. Almost without exception the people criticizing him here only mention the last minute drive as a positive and otherwise completely ignore the numerous great throws and plays that EJ made that Fitz couldn't even make in his dreams. Hell, I can't even remember the last QB who could make a perfect throw like EJ did to Robert Woods on the 2-point conversion with a pass rusher directly in his face. I don't believe I've seen even one mention of that throw on this forum. Ditto with the scramble just before the game-winning TD pass, when EJ escaped the sack and punished the tackler while stopping the clock at the 2-yard line. The people here who are underwhelmed with EJ's performance are not talking about his laser shot to Stevie over the middle or the numerous other plays he made that we haven't seen from a Bills QB in many years. I'm guessing that after a full preseason and camp of facing Pettine's defense that it'll be hard for the Jets to stymie EJ.
  2. I'm not saying it's a bad rule. I'm saying that in this case, the punishment didn't fit the crime. 4th and 18 and it's two guys giving and taking physical liberties with each other in an inconsequential play away from the ball.
  3. In a nutshell, the punishment doesn't fit the crime. Even if it was a fake, the holdee was not an eligible receiver.
  4. I wondered this aloud last week here in the forum. I wondered again this week due to the Wall of Fame ceremony. I wonder if the days of Ralph attending games is over.
  5. Tennessee also drafted guard Chance Warmack 10th overall. Their head coach is Mike Munchak, a HOF O-lineman. Their O-line coach is Bruce Matthews, a HOF O-lineman. Not sure what it all means but even with Chris Johnson and a cast with dazzling credentials, they're having a hard time running the ball. Do we know this though? Knowing the reputation of sports agents, it seems like they'd grasp onto anything that would strengthen the argument that their client deserves more money. Just a thought.
  6. FWIW, here are the snap counts for our wideouts from Buffalo Rumblings (there was a total of 75 offensive snaps): Stevie 75 Woods 71 TJ Graham 47 Chris Hogan 3 Marcus Easley 0
  7. Probably we would because I think a lot of the frustration directed at TJ is due to two years worth of undershooting expectations. Hope he and EJ get synched up soon.
  8. Steve Smith is pound for pound one of the baddest guys to ever play in the NFL. It's just lucky for the rest of the league that he's 5'9" 185 pounds, 34 years old, and on a bad football team. He's a borderline Hall of Famer due to playing on mostly bad teams but he's probably 10 times the player that Lynn Swann was. And he's a seriously bad-ass dude.
  9. As has been pointed out in this thread, head coaches are mandated to wear NFL approved merchandise. The Del Rio/Nolan thing happened in 2005. At the time the NFL had Nike (it would have to be Reebok now) design approved NFL blazers. However the NFL stipulated that the coaches could wear these only twice per season. It is ironic that Marrone can require that his players dress in suits but that he himself can't. As such it is not an instance of a double standard or any hypocrisy on Marrone's part.
  10. I haven't been there but from what I read here every year, that stadium might be the worst one in the league for tailgating. It sounds almost like it's designed to discourage tailgating.
  11. As to your first point there are many Bills fans here who don't have perspective and need to find fault with any performance. Yes, Carolina hung with Seattle who demolished San Francisco last night. As one poster here has made the point, the law of transitivity doesn't translate 100% in sports but it isn't meaningless either. As for your last point, even his harshest critics always said that McKelvin could cover his man well but he could never make the play when the ball was on its way. My point is that he's continued to be a good cover man except in this defense he doesn't have to cover his man for as long. A result of this might be that he'll be able to look back for the ball occasionally instead of trying to stay with his man for an eternity like he's had to since his NFL career began.
  12. Here's the thing in a nutshell AJ: When the Bills lose, their opponents beat them bottom line and deserved to win. When the Bills win, they got lucky and it was a flawed performance. When the Bills win, no one says "a win is a win" or "you are what your record says you are." Instead they go looking for reasons that the team was undeserving.
  13. To echo Coach Tuesday and several others, TJ Graham is just not getting it done and it's hard to understand from the outside why Easley hasn't been given more reps in the offense. There are all kinds of litmus test moments for football players and TJ Graham seems to consistently fail these tests. The interception for instance. Yes it was EJ's fault as he stared down the receiver but Graham's complete lack of instinct to compete for the ball was yet another glaring red flag.
  14. Agree with Kelly 100%. Williams' actions were completely indefensible. Those arguing that the defense needs to "send a message" and "show an attitude" are way off. The message that Williams sent was that he can't clearly understand situational football. As Kelly already pointed out, there would have been dozens of better ways to "send a message" and "show an attitude" if physical intimidation is the goal. What Williams did wouldn't intimidate anyone. This argument would actually have some merit if what Williams did was actually intimidating. He didn't even hit the intended receiver hard.
  15. I believe that this hasn't been mentioned yet: Just before leading the offense out for what would be the game-winning drive, the network camera caught EJ rallying the troops on the sidelines, exhorting them and giving everyone skins. You could see that there was a tangible vibe going on.
  16. The last run by CJ? It illustrates the difference between a home run hitter and a good running back.
