  1. I concur. I think he does. As you know his dad is the winningest high school coach in Pennsylvannia history. Pettine strikes me as a guy with enough ego and self-confidence to want to get that chance.
  2. Yes he did. I think the only guy he really liked was Newton who we didn't get a chance at. There are probably a few guys he would have taken a flyer on had the price been right.
  3. I agree with pretty much every word of this post. The only thing the Browns will lose is the relative draft position of where they took Richardson and what the Indy pick ends up being. It would be acceptable if Hoyer played worse than Weeden considering that the Browns are now playing for next season's draft position. The only other things I'll add: 1) Richardson was picked by the previous regime of Holmgren and Tom Heckert. The selection raised many eyebrows when it was made. Imagine a passing game guru like Holmgren drafting a running back 3rd overall. 2) With the trade of a first rounder for Richardson and a second rounder for Vontae Davis, I'm officially very skeptical that the Colts know what the hell they're doing regarding team building. edit: Mark Ingram selected 28th overall. Eddie Lacy selected 61st overall. WTF were the Browns thinking burning the 3rd overall pick on Richardson? They should feel lucky getting a first rounder for him.
  4. I think two-tenths of a second is an eternity for a cornerback. Every time someone here frets about losing Pettine, I always think about Henderson being groomed to succeed him. As I posted yesterday, this team is trending towards a team that can start thinking about drafting the best player available. Only if you're the kind of person who believes that how a person speaks or writes is a definitive statement of his intelligence. Having underestimated many people in my life, I don't make that mistake anymore. The incredible thing about Catavolos is that he coached under Jauron and the Bills retained him under Gailey. What does that say about the organization?
  5. ^^^^^^^^ I think you're pretty much dead-on, Dan. The coaching hire came at a real low point for the organization and numerous candidates spurned Nix and the Bills. I think you're right on the QB thing too although Nix would have drafted Newton if he had the chance (as he said) and there is some evidence that there were some 2nd-3rd round QBs he would have taken a chance with but that weren't there when we picked and/or he waited too long.
  6. Hey, who are you calling matey? Can't we just write our congressperson?
  7. It seems like Brown was outplaying Legursky at the time of Legursky getting injured as I recall.
  8. I thought Butler missed two weeks of preseason due to injury? In the NFL it's something of a cardinal sin to be injured, especially when you're a young journeyman player trying to convince a coaching staff that you deserve a roster spot.
  9. Call customer service. They could probably confirm the jersey design one way or the other (regarding the collar).
  10. As I've stated often here, Nix was a decent GM as far as acquiring talent (all GMs have hits and misses) however his biggest failings were the two most important things a GM does: 1) Hiring a good Head Coach 2) Getting a good QB.
  11. This is the NFLs 3rd youngest team and they have a brand new coaching staff. Look for those numbers to improve.
  12. If they don't know the rules, they deserve to lose. Justice was served.
  13. It's a pretty unique league. We draft 32 players and we can only have one player per each NFL team. We draft 16 offensive players and 16 individual defensive players who get points for solos tackles (1), assisted tackles (.5), ints (4) defensive TDs (12) forced fumbles (2) and fumble recoveries (2). The individual defensive players are 5 DLs, 5 LBs, and 5 DBs and 1 wild card. Another feature of the league is that we draft 2 Kicker/Offensive Line units. I have the Seattle and Washington K/OLs. The remaining players are: 2 QBs, 4 RBs, 5 WRs, 2 TEs, and 1 wild card player. From that roster we choose a starting lineup consisting of 1 QB, 1 RB, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 K, 1 OL, 2 DLs, 2 LBs, and 2 DBs. We use to hand score the league before the advent of online scoring services. Our draft typically takes about 10-12 hours total including a 1 hour break between the offensive and the defensive drafts. It's a 12 team league and this is our 25th season. 10 of the 12 teams are Buffalo-based. I live in San Jose and one other guy lives in Tempe. He and I often fly in for draft weekend.
  14. And again, does anyone actually recall a camera shot of Fitz getting the offense together on the sidelines and pumping them up before the final possession of the game? It may have happened but I don't recall it. The very act of EJs demonstrative and public leadership is noteworthy in itself, success or failure notwithstanding.
  15. Thanks for the video link. I'll watch it when I get back from work. As for the merge, even more so because I believe Simon only named two players.
  16. Our veteran free agent acquisitions have worked out really well. Lawson is a very long player with long arms which he uses very well to disengage from blocks. The tackle he made on a scrambling Cam Newton was phenomenal. His ability to fend off blockers and seal his side on run plays is superior. He understands the game and takes up space in short zones. I think Cinci let him go partly due to money and partly due to scheme fit but I'm sure they hated to see him go. Branch has to be one of the best rotational D-tackles in the league. He can play either one-gap or two-gap styles and has very good instincts.
  17. LMFAO!!! "This little fiasco cost me hundreds of great for keeping your ass buggered in prison. Now our friend for dry cleaning on the 45th and the fifth was coming up short three months in a row. Do you need to visit him and send a message. Try not to kill him so maybe we can get our cause?"
  18. I remember the camera shot of Manuel rallying the troops before taking the field. I'm trying to remember the last time I saw a Bills QB actually doing something like that.
  19. "In the NFL, legends are forged through late-game heroics. Bills quarterback EJ Manuel realized on Sunday that he had an opportunity to take a step in that direction with his teammates. Before taking the field while trailing 23-17 against the Panthers, Manuel called the other offensive players together and urged them to embrace the opportunity. “I just gave everyone a fist-bump and said, ‘Hey, let’s go be legendary,’” Manuel told PFT Live on Tuesday." http://profootballta...o-be-legendary/ edit: With link to 12 minute interview with EJ.
  20. Traffic, ratings. You've worked in the media. You know. Easy money.
  21. For those interested there are also tickets for the game here: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/161706-just-bought-a-ticket-for-this-sundays-game-in-new-jersey/#entry2912392
