  1. Money has nothing to do with how a retired football player feels, nor should it have anything to do with how others feel towards him. I feel sorry for anyone who suffers from depression. Not just football players. The loss of a career can be very traumatic for some individuals. It would be best to not judge people's depression… especially those whose life experience we'll never be able to comprehend.
  2. All I know is that it's a factory of sadness… I would stay away from the production line floor.
  3. Oddly enough I gotta give Pete Carroll a lot of credit. I never liked the guy and always thought of him as a shameless shyster… the way he's acted and the way he left USC in shambles. That said, I have a lot of newfound respect for Carroll based on how quickly and effectively he's turned around the Seahawks. He's looking like a good motivator, strategist, and personnel guy. I'm also a bit biased because he drafted Russell Wilson and Bruce Irvin, two guys I think are going to be excellent pros. Point is, I wouldn't give the Seahawks short shrift. The Seahawks trading for Winslow makes me think that he's got something left in the tank and that they'll use him well.
  4. Thank you very much for posting. Awesome pics… especially the ones from when we whupped the Cheatriots***.
  5. To be fair to Gailey, the year before he took over in Dallas their record was 6-10. The year after he left they were 5-11. So in Dallas, Gailey was 18-14 and his predecessor and successor were 11-21.
  6. Some of the decisions are gonna be affected by contract status. Moorman is in the final year of a 3-year, $10 million extension. His base salary is $1.45 million. Moorman is one of the highest paid punters in the NFL. Just 3 months ago Lindell signed a 4-year, $11 million contract making him one of the highest paid kickers in the league. Lindell obviously is not going anywhere and the Bills have basically stated that they WILL carry two kickers this year. I personally expect to see Moorman replaced this year. We shall see.
  7. WOW!!! McFadden's gets 1000 Bills fans on NFL Sundays!
  8. The most important asset a QB can have is having the brain to play quarterback. I think Dalton can be an elite player. His arm isn't that weak.
  9. Okay here's the latest. I just called the Northstar and they said they've already received a few inquiries. Their number is (415) 397-0577 and the owner's name is Mark Jennings. They're definitely gonna put something together but exactly what depends on the level of interest. At the least they are gonna do a bus and tailgate but you would have to supply your own ticket. HOWEVER IF THERE'S ENOUGH INTEREST, they will buy a block of tickets from Niners group sales. If you are interested in attending under the auspices of The Northstar including getting your ticket through them (thus being able to sit mostly with other Bills fans), you are encourage to call them to let them know of your interest. My post on the bottom was in response to your inquiry. Thanks R! Got me to make that phone call. That would be awesome Senator. You should make the trip… after all you ARE our QBs Coach. I dropped your name when I called the Northstar… they asked me to have you call them with your credit card number.
  10. It's hard to breed DBs north of the Mason-Dixon line…
  11. I've lost track. Do we presently like Pat Kirwan?
  12. Here's how: The Bills suddenly get a pass rush after having zero pass rush during his whole career. I'm not saying McKelvin doesn't have holes in his game because he does. But you asked how he's suddenly gonna get different results as a player and I just explained how. BTW, in the leadup to the draft, Nix stated that McKelvin was going into the final year of his contract and as such, Nix was expecting McKelvin to have a good year. I think you're off on this one… number one draft picks rarely get cut before the expiration of their contracts. The Bills might let him walk after this year but I think the chances of cutting him before the season starts are very slim.
  13. Great example. And I'm thinking that Randy Moss probably still has a lot left in the tank.
  14. Wow. Buftex came clean on the ruse in post #27 and yet people are so eager to state their opinions/objections (instead of reading other people's thoughts) that they pull the trigger before reading 27 posts. Truly amazing how impatient and one-way people are these days. Sorry to be a jerk but yet again, PLEASE READ THROUGH A TOPIC, ESPECIALLY A VERY SHORT ONE before posting on it. Are people that impatient? Is it that important that our voices be heard BEFORE we listen to others? C'mon people. You'll often find that someone has articulated your thoughts much better than you yourself could, thereby making your post completely unnecessary. I see where people are giving you flack, farmer, so I had to back you up on this. You're completely right, in spite of the attacks against you. I don't consider what Buftex did to be trolling. He was kidding around. IMO trolling is shyt disturbing, provoking people to become angry, using incendiary tactics to foment emotion and anger… such as what a Cheatriots*** or Jets fan would do when visiting this board. Buftex has obviously been a devoted, loyal Bills fan from the start and I thought his post was pretty absurd so no, I don't think this is trolling.
  15. That would be for non-season ticket holders I believe.
  16. I agree with you on this one. There's no bigger lie in sports than the athlete who says "it's not about the money." I'd guess that "hometown discounts" occur about 2-3% of the time. There's been lots of blurbs in national magazines (ie- ESPN The Magazine's "Player X") where anonymous athletes are quoted and they all say the same thing: Many players don't like playing football for a living but there's absolutely nothing they could do instead to make that kind of money. While that doesn't go for every player obviously, I have zero problem believing the truth of these statements. It's a brutal, unforgiving game, but it pays well. Get in, make your money, get out.
  17. Feel free to post less around here. In fact, feel free to not post here at all.
  18. I think you were spot on with everything you said until the bolded upset pick (by upset I assume you think he'll be a non-factor this year). I think Graham will contribute if only because I think Gailey will take extraordinary measures to make sure that he does. We shall see.
  19. I disagree with both of you guys. As a person who works under a CBA, I think the NFL's latest CBA is excellent for both sides. The players conceded issues in the area of total gross revenues but made important strides in working hours and working conditions. The players have way fewer padded practices, two-a-day workouts in training camp, far fewer OTAs, more time to spend with their families, etc. It was a great deal for both sides, IMO.
  20. I find this both interesting and ironic considering that Gailey is known as an offensive coach while Jauron cemented his reputation (via the Schonert fiasco) as a defensive coach and a poor judge of talent… ironic indeed that our best offensive players are from the previous regime. I think it points to two things: 1) Jauron and company did make some good decisions here and there but just not enough of them. The difference between success and failure in any endeavor is usually minute. 2) Chixley has had the wisdom to give players from the previous regime a fair and honest chance at continuing the mission. Unlike some regime changes witnessed in the Bills recent history, this administration wisely did not overdo the housecleaning. In fact they gave some of the former regime's players (ie- Trent Edwards, Marshawn Lynch) considerable benefit of the doubt. Chixley has been patient and wise in their approach to re-making the roster.
  21. No. The Bills have stated that Merriman is a defensive end in this defense.
  22. There has been tons of speculation and maybe even some comments by the Bills that Gilmore will be covering the Cheatriots*** tight ends. I believe they feel his plus size for a cornerback will give him a good chance to help neutralize Gronk and Hernandez. Yes. Mario Williams is slated to play left defensive end so he won't often be lined up against D'Brick.
  23. It seemed to me that there was a thought that we would contact the North Star in North Beach and buy a ticket package through them… I thought they always do something when the Bills are in the Bay Area… a bus and tailgate package. I assumed they would be the main hosts of any Bills fans exodus. Because they have done it before and more than likely will do it again, it makes sense to follow their lead.
