  1. I really wish those +/- signs worked. What a wonderful thought.
  2. In the SEC Championship Game, Cordy Glenn dominated LSU's (All-SEC and Scout.com All-American 245 pound speed rusher) Sam Montgomery.
  3. I expect them to address QB also but I would add that Nix does not reach for players based on positional needs so I think for the Bills to draft a quarterback high, it might be a case where need meets opportunity. Since Nix took over, the Bills have spent just a 7th rounder on Levi Brown in 2010. They have repeatedly passed over available quarterbacks, for better or worse, not showing the aggression to "reach" for one. Nix publicly stated he would take Cam Newton were he to fall to the Bills, which he didn't. A lot of people believe that the Bills would have taken Christian Ponder in the 2nd round had the Vikings not taken him 12th overall, FWIW. However this year they went high on the hog to win the Mario Williams Derby, spending huge sums of money when none of us really thought they would. Could they show a surprising change in tack in next year's draft if they think they can't wait any longer to address the position? Might they overreach for a player or put together a package of picks to move up for one?
  4. Well… Troy Aikman was inarguably surrounded by Hall of Famers and was on a great team. In addition I don't remember Aikman ever carrying a team on his shoulders. That said, I think you've overstated your argument. What is interesting is that Aikman recently and emphatically stated his opinion that Tony Romo is a better quarterback than he (Aikman) ever was.
  5. The quality of talent on the Bills roster has gotten to the point where the weight given to BPA far exceeds the weight given for positional needs. In truth both are always factored in but I can't remember the last time when the quality of the player outweighed what position he plays by such a wide margin. The Bills have gotten to the point that they can draft like the Steelers (DeCastro, Pouncey, etc) and just draft the best player available when their pick comes.
  6. Just to recap: 1) Fitz played from week 4 on with broken ribs. 2) Fitz lost Fred Jackson in week 10. 3) From training camp on Fitz lost receivers such as Donald Jones, Marcus Easley, and Roscoe Parrish and Scott Chandler (not to mention Lee Evans). 4) Stevie Johnson played all season with a strained groin muscle. 5) There was a rash of injuries on the offensive line to Eric Wood, D Bell, and Urbik which caused the team to have to shuffle the O-line on an almost weekly basis. As someone has pointed out numerous times (I think it was Hopeful), if Fitz completed 1 pass per game more last season, his completion percentage would have gone from a solid 62.0% to an outstanding 64.9%. Considering the above five factors all conspired against Fitz, I don't consider it optimistic at all to expect a big season from Fitz… and that's not even considering how much a dramatically improved defense will help the offense in terms of field position, time of possession by the other team, and takeaways in our favor… or the fact that we have a new QB coach who will work on improving Fitz' mechanics. In fact I would go so far as to say that I think it's naive to think that Fitz won't be an improved quarterback in 2012.
  7. Mediocre as a quarterback, yes. As an analyst… much better than average.
  8. You raise a valid point about the differences between the Giants' "NASCAR" package and the Bills Base D. However, I read somewhere that the Bills can and will go NASCAR on obvious passing downs with M Williams, Anderson, Merriman, and Kelsay, and will be able to use the same tactics of moving them around to confuse the offense as the Giants do. Meanwhile our base defense will have the talent to stop the run and rush the passer in non-obvious passing downs.
  9. I wish we were all immortal and that your Dad could have enjoyed this year's version of his beloved Buffalo Bills. Perhaps he still can. I don't know. Your Dad is immortal in one sense… besides his children, his works will live forever… and not everyone leaves behind an everlasting legacy as fine as that. May your pain turn to peace. Deepest condolences, Guff.
  10. For the second time, Chris Watson was not a free agent. The Bills gave up a 4th rounder for him.
  11. Thanks Tony. I've watched that game many a time and it never gets old… BUT… THIS is the year that the Bills start writing some new history. Truth is I'm about tapped out on the glory day memories and really thirsting for some new stuff. And I believe there's gonna be lots of great moments in this 2012 season!
  12. Who cares? VCR, DVR… the message is the same: Set your recording device. Thanks Buftex!
  13. When I saw that play I thought to myself "perfect positioning by Dareus." Dareus had outside-in leverage and didn't want to overpursue and give Tebow a cutback run/throw lane. Even though Tebow and his blockers were pushing Dareus to the outside, he refused to be pushed too far outside… and thus he forced a quarterback who was itching to run into throwing an interception.
  14. From our buddy John Wawrow: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/bills-williams-home-windfall-scam-175608437--nfl.html It's great that some of those people who were ripped off by the previous owner will get some reparation.
  15. Good info and thanks for the heads up. I didn't realize the training camp schedule had been released yet. http://www.buffalobills.com/schedules/events-calendar.html One nice option is the night practices… there are 4 of them this year. It seems both players and fans like having the workouts under the lights… it adds a bit of glam for one thing and the players get a reprieve from the dog days and the summer sun. Speaking of dog days, these are typically the worst days on this forum. Nothing is happening and people get pretty impatient and ill-mannered as a result. There's nothing going on and little to talk about. Hopefully we all get through this relatively unscathed.
  16. I'm thinking you're thinking… Josh Stamer?
  17. The Bills traded a 4th rounder to acquire Chris Watson from Denver.
  18. Obviously not. Just watched the week two Raiders game again. Spiller was brilliant with 69 yards on 5 touches. Spiller could become a superstar this year. Some of the plays he made last year were pretty unbelievable. I'm very excited about watching both of our RBs produce in this offense. Have two running backs from the same team ever gone to the Pro Bowl in the same year?
  19. http://blogs.buffalo...itzpatrick.html When Parcells was assembling his first Miami Dolphins coaching staff in 2008, he hired Lee before he hired the head coach. The late Tom Martinez, personal throwing guru for New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, often would bemoan the lack of passing-mechanics instruction at the NFL level. "Mechanics should be coached on a daily basis," Martinez once told me, "and I don't know that it is."
