  1. I understand both of your points. I guess one question is whether the aftereffects from a Jets win would/could alter the course of these QBs careers, Geno's positively and EJ's negatively. I personally don't think so.
  2. Those previews were extremely well-researched and well-written. She's such a knowledgeable sports fan and I still hold out hope that she comes back here.
  3. No I don't think the Bills would have pulled the tag. As I've said before about this situation, neither side has really done anything wrong. It's just a legal dance and a business situation. That said I stand by my statement that on some level, Byrd and Parker have not been dealing in good faith and I say this in context of my earlier suggestion that if really bad blood existed between the two sides and the Bills ownership/management wanted to become spiteful and contentious that I'm sure the Bills could have their counsel file some sort of complaint with the league claiming that Byrd is not entitled to pay for any weeks that he's unable to play.
  4. ^^^^^^ Okay. Does anyone else have anything they'd like to share with the group?
  5. Aha. That old IH/Farmall/McCormick/Deering thing. I guess the brand loyalty isn't too different than with cars and trucks.
  6. The pass was a bit high but Choice didn't do himself any favors either. I'd have to look at it again but he looked mighty clumsy on the play. Anyways, I'm a huge Freddy fan but he won't play forever. I'm not advocating for Hillis but at some point soon we'll need another big back. If he's also a special teams stud, even better.
  7. No consideration of Challenger (Cat) or Case? Are you leaning New Holland because of the rep of the local dealership? P.S. - Even out here, I prefer the Bills in the early games. I love having most of the day left after the game is over.
  8. I alluded to it upthread so I'll just state it here: Byrd was most likely extended the franchise tender by the Bills under the assumption that he was physically able to play football. He signed that tender. If he knew that he was physically unable to play football, then on some level he signed the tender in bad faith. As I said, it's all business and these are all "plays" by the respective sides but on some level, Parker and Byrd were disingenuous, IMO.
  9. Two things: 1) I'm gonna guess Spiller was much better against Carolina than New England and I would say that he was better last year than he was against New England in week one so I think your numbers are a bit skewed. He played poorly against New England and he and everyone else admitted it. 2) Barry Sanders had a similar run profile as the one you just broke down for us. Like Spiller he was a home run hitter. Consistent gains vs "chunk yardage" would be a good discussion for sabermetricians as far as determining which type of runner is more important to game outcomes. Food for thought: Most 20+ yard runs in 2012: Adrian Peterson 27 C.J. Spiller 12 Jamaal Charles 11 Doug Martin 11 Most 20+ yard runs in one season: 2012 Adrian Peterson- 27 2009 Chris Johnson- 22 2008 Adrian Peterson- 20 1997 Barry Sanders- 19 1994 Barry Sanders- 18 1998 Jamal Anderson- 17 1993 Barry Sanders-16 1995 Barry Sanders- 16 2003 Jamal Lewis- 16 2003 Deuce McAllister-16 2005 Tiki Barber- 16 CJ had fewer carries (207) than any of the other running backs on these lists.
  10. I don't know if anyone read the link that JJ posted but we're talking about a very accomplished person who's led a very interesting life. In fact her appearance in "Mickey" was an anomaly in the middle of a very successful choreographing career. Toni: 1) Claims to have made less than $3000 in US royalties from "Mickey." 2) Made that video when she was over 40 years old. 3) Really was a cheerleader at Las Vegas High School. 4) "Has worked with David Bowie (choreographed and co-directed his 1974 "Diamond Dogs" Tour, Elvis Presley, Talking Heads (she dated David Byrne), the Monkees, Devo, Frank Sinatra, George Lucas, Jack Nicholson, Tom Hanks, Bette Midler, Tina Turner, the Muppets, Matchbox Twenty, Bob Fosse, Davy Jones of the Monkees, and even "Suite Life"-era Zack and Cody. Her latest credit on IMDB had her choreographing an episode of RuPaul’s TV show...which is a long way from dancing next to Annette Funicello all the way back in 1964's Pajama Party." 5) Is childhood best friends with Teri Garr. 6) With Teri sat in on a recording session for "Yellow Submarine" and partied with the Beatles on an all-nighter afterwards. 7) Played the New Orleans hooker in "Easy Rider" that Peter Fonda took a liking to. 8) Possessed video and firsthand knowledge that Michael Jackson did not invent the "Moonwalk." Quite a life.
  11. Dude, you're nuts. The very site you link to verifies that Kiko HAS played every snap this year.
  12. And going back to the other thread, it's hard to say what's in people's hearts. One could speculate that the motivation for shooting the video was "showing off that I was at the game" for instance. That said, I'm glad to have seen the video. It was kind of awesome.
  13. Interesting take. I don't want to hijack so I'll just respond with these rhetorical thoughts: 1) There is probably a difference (perhaps small) between getting a tattoo for a living relative as opposed to getting one for a person who is no longer on earth. 2) It's a tricky business divining what a person's motivations may be for getting a tattoo. . . that is, what is in one's heart. Also I'm curious as to what religious scripture addresses tattoos?
  14. I agree wholeheartedly with your take. Honestly I feel emotionless about the Byrd situation understanding full well that this is a business impasse.
  15. Interesting. In California more than one of every two people in the state are Mexican or of Mexican descent. Most of these people are Catholics. I work construction and I would estimate that at least half the guys I work with have tattoos. Many of the tattoos are of family members/loved ones and many tattoos are religious iconography/symbolism. I would judge tattoos on the actual content and somewhat on their location. As a rule I have absolutely nothing against tattoos. My nephew has two tattoos. One is of his mother's surname written in the alphabet of her native Korea and the other is his father's surname written in his native Greek. Obviously he's paying tribute to his family. What's there not to like?
  16. Yes. However the difference being that Byrd played with the condition last year. That means that either the condition has gotten worse or . . . On a related point, because Byrd never reported and worked out with the team during the offseason, there might have been some cause for the Bills to believe that rest and rehab had alleviated or even eliminated the condition. Just some thoughts.
  17. If the Bills withdrew the offer (I'm assuming you mean the franchise designation) wouldn't that make Byrd a free agent? A different question would be whether they could have failed his physical and filed some sort of action where they wouldn't have to pay him until he was able to play. That would be playing some serious hardball but I think it's still relevant to ask whether it was an avenue that the team could have pursued.
  18. Good show!!! Your true fandom brought us good fortune! May it do so again!
