  1. Edwards, Johnson are possibilities. Moorman is a possible cut. Thigpen makes $3 million per year… he could be gone. Brad Smith makes nearly $4 million per year. Point is, in the next two years, enough big contracts will come off the books so that the Bills will be able to maintain a sensible and fair pay scale across the board, IMO.
  2. I'm heavily into fantasy football. Me and some buddies had a fantasy football book published two years in a row in the early 90s. We were guests on out-of-town radio shows and did the fantasy football issue for the now defunct national sports magazine, Inside Sports. I play in only two fantasy leagues (more is not better, IMO). I think the home viewing experience and the stadium experience are two totally different things and I think that's a good thing. I have the nice flat panel TV at home with the NFL Sunday Ticket and the hi-def DVR. We go to the Red Zone channel during commercials. The computer is on and I keep tabs open for my fantasy teams. We cook food and have fun. But I love being in the stadium too, for very different reasons. I love seeing the entire field and concentrating on the game. When I'm in a stadium, I really don't need to know what the out of town scores are or how my fantasy players/team are doing. I think more people in our society would really benefit from concentrating on just one thing every once in awhile. When I'm in the stadium I'm not a slave to my cell phone, my fantasy team or any of that. I know that my being a slave to fantasy results will not change those results so I'm content to find out what's going on after the game. I watch the game intently. I look at people. I look at the weather, the sights and sounds. It's good being away from the electronic devices once in awhile and actually being aware of my physical surroundings. I really don't understand why the stadium has to be like being at home… which apparently is what the NFL is intent on doing. I'd prefer a more pure (traditional) and cheaper stadium experience. I don't see it that way obviously. I think you lose more than you gain when you try to have it both ways in an NFL stadium. Imagine a few years from now… 25,000 fans… nearly one third of the stadium with their noses planted in their personal electronic devices… not being aware of their surroundings.
  3. Your stubbornness on Lindell is silly. There's zero chance he's getting cut. The Bills have said as much both in the media and with the checkbook.
  4. The "problem" with our wide receiver group is that it's like the depth chart on previous editions of the Bills… one is left hoping that someone will emerge. Hopefully that does happen. Gladly, the rest of the roster has been rebuilt to the point that we know we have dependable, good-quality players in place. Not so much with the receivers.
  5. Exactly. Look what happened to Michael Crabtree in San Francisco… there was no structure there to get him on the straight and narrow. Look at Dez Bryant under Wade Phillips. I'm sure Arizona was willing to take on this guy largely because they felt that Larry Fitzgerald would be able to help keep him in line.
  6. Again, it's about putting a price tag (draft pick) on the guy as well as taking an opportunity to evaluate a player and compare notes. Forty-two receptions for 7 TDs and an 17.0 yards per reception are very good numbers for a sophomore receiver. This kid might be gifted in the same way that Jets 2nd rounder Stephen Hill is… that is 6'4" and 220 pounds and possibly pretty fast. Gotta do the due diligence… there's nothing to lose by evaluating this player. Hypothetical: What if the Bills interview him and are convinced that he's turned things around… and that he runs a 4.36 forty and has an excellent workout? Let's let the facts come to us instead of jumping to conclusions (see Adrian Peterson thread).
  7. Again, Miami is expected to attend this workout and is very wide receiver poor. I think Cleveland is in the same boat so there's two more possibilities. However if Gordon has a killer workout, things could get interesting.
  8. More on this topic. The NFL paid attendance has been in decline for the past 7 seasons: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/07/08/after-peaking-in-2007-nfl-attendance-steadily-has-declined/ The question is why? Florio harvested over 150 comments from that blog post and according to the comments, the issue is the cost of attending a game: "But since in many respects the NFL sets the agenda for its coverage by talking not about dropping prices but by adding bells and whistles, no one in the media seems to be sensitive to the burgeoning uprising of fans who are voting with their wallets. And so, while it’s critical to make the in-stadium experience at least as good as the home experience, the bottom line is the bottom line. Unless and until owners are willing to give up some of the windfall that comes from $13 tubs of stale popcorn and one beer that costs more than a six-pack at a store, more and more people when faced with the prospect of schlepping to the local stadium will borrow a quote from Lee Corso and stay home."
  9. I'll try to add something here. I think Fitzgerald holds voluntary boot camp workouts a la Jerry Rice. I believe these workouts is what Floyd has been skipping. Also Fitzgerald's tweet speaks loudly considering he was publicly in favor of the Cardinals drafting Floyd. It's a wake-up call for Floyd. Fitzgerald is not an enabler. He'll be your friend… if you work hard… that's why he's one of the NFL's best.
  10. And burn what round draft pick to get him? That's what this topic boils down to.
  11. Okay, I'll add something pertinent to the discussion which relates to the current situation of both the Bills and Trent Edwards: There are people on this message board who believe that Trent Edwards "beat out" Vince Young for a spot on the Eagles roster.
  12. Juice said that he emulated Hall of Fame Niner RB Hugh McIlhenny… and indeed he runs like him. He also runs a bit like Lenny Moore of the Colts. Of more contemporary guys, because of Juice's length, smoothness, and speed, I'd have to say a combo of Marcus Allen and Eric Dickerson. Most people would agree with you. Glad to see a few votes for Lou Saban. If you think about Mt Rushmore, you almost have to look at coaches, GMs and owners as they are more analogous to the founding fathers than are players. And Lou Saban had an excellent visage for being sculpted on the side of a mountain. Ralph of course would have to go there. Maybe Polian and Levy to round out the four. As for players, Kelly, Bruce… Juice… and Thurman with all the players wearing their helmets except for Thurman.
  13. Solid post. Post more often. I thought I heard the Dolphins are also gonna be there. Could Nix and Company be pushing some buttons here as well as keeping their evaluation skills sharp?
  14. I used to live at 371 Lisbon… a few houses west of Bailey on the south side of the street. You forgot Donald "The Butcher" Palmer! BTW, I'm 51 but quite immature.

  16. One can only hope… LMFAO!!! Nice! Actions speak louder than words… this guy almost held out on us… I wouldn't believe a word he says… I'm inclined to agree… I love your "scared lemur" moniker for CB but have you considered "the frightened lemur?" I think it rolls off the tongue better. Anyways, the visual is almost as good as The Senator calling Jimmy Clausen, "The Emu." I'm marking you in my TSW database as someone who doesn't know WTF he's talking about. Burn him! THANK YOU for reading through the thread before posting. … when there's no intentional grounding penalty once you're out of the tackle box… but god forbid an incomplete pass taints his passer efficiency rating…
  17. Have the board elders given you authorization to use that expression? Gosh, FunPolice. You're becoming a real buzz kill.
  18. Don't fret, eball. Unfortunately TJ has made it difficult for overzealous fans to criticize his character but we can still have inane conversations centered around him. For instance we can still argue whether TJ is a Roscoe Parrish clone even though TJ is 5'11" and 188 pounds while Roscoe was very generously listed at 5'9" and 175 pounds. Better yet, we can discuss how well TJ will do in the slot regardless of the fact that it's been widely reported that he has played almost exclusively on the outside thus far and the Bills would like to use him on the outside to stretch the field. So we can still use TJ as the epicenter of stupid discussion!
  19. Kent Hull I believe was 6'5" and backup center Colin Brown is 6'7". While it can be an advantage for a center to be built low to the ground, that lone factor does not determine success or failure.
  20. Why bring reason and intelligence into the discussion? It was just fine without you.
  21. Your account is so vivid, it's almost like I was right there standing next to you (except I'd be the guy that you had to explain what just happened to). If ever a fan base deserved a winning team to cheer for… right here, right now.
  22. Funny how the hate for Jason Peters compelled so many posters to blame Peters and not Losman for that play. It was a defensive back blitzing from the 9 spot… with a jump on the snap count. It was Losman, not Peters who has to make that read and get rid of the ball quickly… Peters has to sit in his stance. Losman rolls out… holds onto the ball too long (yet again) and gets hit from behind on a play where that was the only thing he had to make sure he didn't do.
