Michael Floyd - For whats it's worth...
San Jose Bills Fan replied to Booger's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This type of news is way too early… I mean we're pre-training camp. That said, the core of the information was provided by Kent Somer who is the respected Cards beat writer for the Arizona Republic: Per reliable beat writer Kent Somers, the Cardinals remain high on Andre Roberts as the No. 2 to Fitzgerald, and it would be a "surprise" if Floyd overtook Roberts or slot receiver Early Doucet "any time soon." Somers suggests that Floyd might be better off shedding a few pounds. While we expect him to break into the first-team offense eventually, Floyd won't be draftable in 12-team leagues if he doesn't unseat Roberts before the season starts. As for Gilmore and the depth chart, etc… hasn't Gilmore been taking all the first team reps? I believe he has. -
71 year old man shoots two robbers
San Jose Bills Fan replied to erynthered's topic in Off the Wall Archives
True but why serve it up on a plate? If those two are as stupid as their act, they're even money to not know how to find these things out… especially as there will most likely be no charges brought. And I doubt the shooter is thrilled about his name being used in the article. Seems like a layer or two of discretion would have been appropriate in this case. I'm mostly annoyed at the newspaper for divulging a fact that doesn't add to the story or the story's appeal. -

So does this mean that she's cheap or that she's not cheap? It's badly… not bad. You are hereby prohibited from making grammatical pronouncements. -

MDP dating advice thread...

Pretty wise for a whippersnapper. You been tagging along with your older brother? You mean you didn't offer her your class ring? I get that you never call them back but why do you go on dates with guys? Especially when you get a side of chili cheese fries. Very sound advice. I would add that you should find out where she works and stop in to say hi. Just say you were in the neighborhood and thought it might be nice to grab a bite to eat. Throwing pebbles at her window late at night would be a good move too. -
My Mom told me never to put beans in my ears. Savage! I civilized person would suggest amputation. LMFAO!!! Perhaps a scratch awl. Also I'm told they're not fond of peroxide. LOL, Crazy Glue and earwax. Could be a problem.

Yes, but not as much as a 51 year old guy. Probably similar to the husband who's asked questions about his wife banging some other guy in a restroom at The Ralph. -
What is your favorite Sitcom Ever
San Jose Bills Fan replied to millbank's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I agree with your takes. A buddy of mine hit the nail on the head when he said that Frasier was the "wittiest" show on television. A bit high-brow for some but really well-written and developed characters. I agree about Seinfeld… overrated and silly stupid… not really clever. Agreed. George is by far the funniest character on that show, IMO. Me too. For stupid, low-brow humor although I guess it lumps into the sub-category of animated shows. I was gonna. Green Acres over Petticoat Junction for me. Hilariously corny and I could NEVER get enough of Hank Kimball's confusion or Mr. Haney's shucksterism. Classic corny shtick. Glad to see a lot of love for The Larry Sanders Show. HBO has done so much to raise the bar on television serials. Dream On was groundbreaking too. Specific episodes? The one Larry Sanders where Larry and Hank are feuding all show (Hank's feeling underappreciated and Larry's feeling insecure about his stardom). At the end, they're live on set during a show that's going south and finally there's an awkward silence before Hank bails Larry out and salvages the show. There's a real nice moment right afterwards where they realize they need each other. I loved Sage's write-up of Louie… makes me want to watch an episode. -
Me neither. Certainly not any kind of Buffalo icon AFAIK.

"LaRosa Pizzeria?" Did they possibly mean LaNova?

Those places deal in cash as the article states. The question IMO is why do they divulge the name of the man who stood up to the punks? What if these thugs are out on bail or belong to a gang? By releasing his name he can now be vulnerable to revenge. His name shouldn't have been released. -

What does this have to do with Josh Reed and pizza? -

I guess that explains Reed's sour demeanor. Stevie Johnson on the other hand, is from San Francisco where the pizza is quite excellent… thus his sweet personality. A bit ironic about the pizza as New Orleans has a pretty solid reputation food-wise. -

I'm not that well-traveled but in my experience, pizza in Buffalo is thicker than it is in most places. I've never had pizza from Louisiana where Josh Reed is from. I can't speak to the yeast in the process as others have because I was not the person making the dough, unfortunately. However the pan basically ensures that you don't burn the bottom before the top is done so yes, you guessed right. Once the top is almost cooked, the pizza is then decked for about 2 minutes. Sometimes when we made pizzas with lots of extra toppings, there would be a lot more liquid (from olives, peppers, etc) and we would actually start the pizza on two pans to prevent the bottom from burning. Also for a time in Buffalo during the 80s (I think it might still be the case), a thick crust pizza was usually described as a "Sicilian-style" pizza. For these we also used the double pan method so that the dough would bake completely before we decked them to brown the bottom. mrags worked at John's Pizzeria in Amherst so he might have more feedback on this Josh Reed conversation. Like BuffaloBillsForever, I'd be curious about which tomato products/brands are used in Buffalo-area pizzerias. I know that basically we used to dump several cans of tomato sauce in a 5 gallon restaurant bucket and then add paste, sugar, dried oregano and basil and maybe thyme and mix it with a whisk. I can see the red-colored cans of tomato sauce but can't remember the brand name. Perhaps Reed gets some of his bitterness from the sauce methods used in his home state. -
