  1. Yes. Some of the players were using lower-rated helmets out of habit or because of the way they look. As much as I don't like too many rules being imposed from above, the NFL has to mandate the use of superior products in order to protect the players and the league. As for your last point, it is true that as protective equipment has improved, so has the level of violence and physicality. This is true in every sport. However I really don't think the NFL players could play with any more force at this point. Better equipment and continued enforcement of the new rules seems like the only answers to the head trauma issue.
  2. http://blogs.buffalonews.com/press-coverage/2012/07/chan-gailey-calls-depth-not-even-close-to-2010.html "… but where Gailey truly lit up was on the subject of roster depth. "Not even close," Gailey said. "Buddy and I laugh from time to time. It's a good laugh. "We were trying to find 53 players that we thought could help us win that first year. This year we may have to let some good football players go that we wouldn't even have thought about [releasing] two years ago." These were the final cuts in Gailey's first season as Head Coach: Quarterback Levi Brown, running backs Joique Bell, Andre Anderson and Chad Simpson; offensive linemen Kirk Chambers, Nick Hennessey, Christian Gaddis, Andre Ramsey, Jason Watkins and Sean Allen; defensive end Rashaad Duncan; linebacker Donovan Woods. Again, these were the final cuts.

  4. Good stuff, Damon. Thanks for posting and hope you're having a great summer. BTW, you look like a pretty big guy. Did you play football?
  5. Or so you imagine. (And what's wrong with having respect and regard for a player anyways?)
  6. Hmmm… Astro doesn't have him on his big board and that board looks like it's about 200 players (is that right, Astro?). I see his similarly skill-setted teammate Sam Montgomery is up there. Are we Barkeviousing up the wrong tree? Mingo? Mingo? Where are ya buddy? Mingo? There's the buddy!!! There's our Mingo!!! Good Mingo!!!
  7. Uh, Reggie White died of complications possibly attributed to sleep apnea. And before some wise guy idiot posts the video, Bruce did faint while on a TV set. But I never heard that Bruce had sleep apnea. Anyways, the lawsuit is up to over 2700 players. As I've said many times in this forum, there are many classes of players in this lawsuit. and many individuals/outlyers/unique cases within each class. Don't paint them all with one brush.
  8. Well, Talley is one of my all-time faves too. It's great that he's on the team's Wall of Fame. As written about in the last year or so, the team is very unlikely to retire any more numbers what with the ones already retired, the infinity of future history (Mayan calendar aside), and the growing roster sizes. So it's unlikely that his number will every be retired (let's just hope that Merriman does the number justice). As far as the Pro Football HOF, no way. Talley's an all-time Bill and I love the guy… just a great player. But he's not a Hall of Famer by any stretch. But there's no shame in his being an all-time Bill and being on the club's Wall of Fame.
  9. Definitions aside, I don't really care how we win the Super Bowl. If Fitz ends up being part of the rule or if he ends up being the exception, it makes no difference to me. Let us remember the words of Al Davis. There will come another year when a non-franchise QB wins the Super Bowl again. (I left out Al Davis' words for dramatic effect… he didn't say "There will come another year when a non-franchise QB wins the Super Bowl again.") He said "Just Win Baby."
  10. Well. A good thought and a bit deeper than the conversation has been. I think you're on to something.
  11. Yeah that's why I didn't get quite as good a deal as others may have. But it was still worth getting the annual ritual done and over with.
  12. See it could have been worse… it could have been your eye and not your ear.
  13. I think so… and in the 60's Bubble Gum Category… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkoT0Me2sRU&feature=related
  14. Retribution by members of the same gang? Now I'm repeating myself and the thread only has 15 responses.
  15. And in the 70s Pop Rock Category… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFypAB7nYGA
  16. Yeah we had that big argument about that last year and I guess I owe you an apology. You were right.
  17. You gotta admit, that photo of Moorman booming one out of his own end zone is pretty sweet!
  18. Not that my blood pressure is rocketing up at the mere thought or that I'm gonna lose any sleep but yeah, considering Fred's no worse than the second-best player on the offense, it seems like a no-brainer that he should be on the tickets.
  19. Barkevious? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iTvrp3Y7WU&feature=related
  20. With an attitude like that you'll never get the discount on your NFL Sunday Ticket.
