  1. Speaking for myself, I think boredom and silliness motivate some posts which later on come off as snarky. Like our football team, I think we're pretty much ready for some live action.
  2. A few things jumped out at me about the report. Corey McIntyre scored in goal line drills on a 2-yard run. He was also unsuccessful on another run. Will we see CMac used as a short yardage back this year? Also, Gailey said the defense won 5-3 on the 8 plays on the goal line. But the first team offense was 2-2 while the second team offense was 1-3 with three of those plays being runs. Seems like Gailey is oversimplifying a bit… maybe to motivate the offense. Mario Williams had yet another batted ball. At 6'6" and long-armed and athletic and lined up on the left side of the defense, he's gonna wreak havoc on passing lanes on the offensive right side.
  3. Juvenile I'll give you… there have been numerous attempts at humor in this thread… but I think more "all in good fun" than malicious. Don't really agree with your take.
  4. I know what you're saying. But Gallery at one point was considered one of the better guards in the NFL (being coached by Tom Cable with the Raiders) after busting as a Left Tackle. He, like Tony Mandarich actually attempted to salvage his career and did so to a certain extent. I reserve those feelings you expressed for guys like JaMarcus Russell.
  5. That's interesting as it's not totally consistent with what Chris Brown reported. Brown suggested that Leon-hard was not sufficiently recovered so I would guess that any offer by the Bills was filled with contingencies. If the Bills made an offer, I'm confident that it was a fair offer and that they weren't committed to signing Leon-hard at any cost (see Tyson Clabo, Robert Meachem). Said Chris Brown: "The feedback I was able to get concerning his workout with the Bills Friday morning is that he’s not all the way back yet from his surgery to repair a torn patellar tendon. The situation is much the same with Terrence McGee, who if you’ve been out to practice have seen him laboring through drills at times. Leonhard is about three to four weeks behind McGee in recovery. So signing him really isn’t an option right now. I myself was wondering if the Bills doctors felt his knee would be ready in a month, could the Bills sign him now and place him on Active/PUP. That unfortunately is not allowed under league rules. Only a player that was already on the roster, but did not report to camp on time could be placed on Active/PUP once training camp has already begun."
  6. Calm down, bub. (sarcasm, in case the obvious isn't obvious) (or wasn't obvious in the previous post, which I thought it was… but maybe you're being sarcastic too… but maybe not)
  7. A few more thoughts after looking at the depth chart. I believe Carrington will end up making the team. I have a gut that the team will have to make a choice between Spencer Johnson and Dwan Edwards. I don't believe McGee makes it but it's too early to say. McKelvin has been the primary slot corner and it's obvious the team wants him to succeed. They keep saying good things about him "we expect Leodis to have a good year" "when he was demoted last year he didn't hang his head… he volunteered to return punts and kicks and worked hard in practice" etc. Dickerson is listed as a fullback so he's not competing directly with the tight ends on the roster though he is competing with them indirectly. Players being made to work for a spot (motivational use of the depth chart): Glenn, Ron Brooks, V Young, Easley, and Carrington.
  8. To reiterate popular themes in this topic: 1) We haven't even played the first game yet meaning a person could go from 3rd at their position group to 5th in one day (game). 2) This "depth chart" is as much a motivating tool as it is a true representation of who is where. I'm not sure this applies to you but many posters here seem to forget that putting a player on the practice squad requires that he passes through waivers. I seriously doubt Brooks would pass waivers, especially considering that MANY teams are short/weak at cornerback. Chris Brown reported that Scott sits in the linebacker meetings and doesn't sit in the DB meetings. This was about a week ago I believe. That's odd… I hardly remember Morrison playing last year. Also did anyone on that D play well last year? Finally Morrison has a good track record as an NFL starter. I think it's really early to be dogging the guy.
  9. Also, paper or plastic? Boxers or briefs? curved or flat-brimmed? On the discussion, I'm hoping for certain players but really trust the decision makers on this team. Also we haven't played a game yet so this is a bit premature. I'd love to see Chris White make the team but if they deem McKillup the better player I'm fine with that. I don't see how Johnny White beats out Choice. I'm assuming Young over Thigpen but it's still early. Hagan seems to have the advantage right now over Aiken but that could change in less than one week… in fact that could change in one day.
  10. Sounds like he could be related to Thurston Howell. Perhaps he gets together with the Carringtons and the Bradhams for cocktails on Tuesday nights.
  11. Quite so. But to be a sport and condescend to the discussion… There are a lot of dimensions. There are special teams-only guys who are so amped and crazy (Josh Stamer, Hal Garner, Mark Pike, etc.) that they're worth more than more talented players who don't have the same temperament. They give the roster a toughness which is required in football. Conversely, there are very talented players who aren't worth a lick on special teams because they don't have the temperament required to play on the suicide squads. Then you have the best of both worlds where you have a guy like Cory McIntyre, Carwell Gardner, Butch Rolle who are good players on special teams and from scrimmage. And if you turn over a significant portion of the roster to younger players each year (more ready, willing, able to use teams as a foothold for their career), you can get 2nd, 3rd, 4th rounders who will play significant roles on teams early in their careers before establishing themselves as valuable players from scrimmage. Then you get guys who were miscast as special teams-only guys who proved later in their careers that they should have played larger roles from scrimmage… guys like Steve Tasker and Mario Haggan. It's really a complex discussion. But in general, the more talented your team is, the better your special teams will be. DeHaven is a good coach and the Bills are a talented team. I'm not sure how many games special teams is gonna win for us this year but I expect that they'll be better than average… that they'll be more of a positive than a negative.
  12. I agree with your first paragraph. Sadly, I disagree with your last one.
  13. The transcript of Mr. Wilson's short speech today: http://blogs.buffalonews.com/press-coverage/2012/08/ralph-wilson-makes-hall-of-fame-appearance.html
  14. Two mentions of Jim Leon-hard in CB's Inside the Bills Blog: Said safety George Wilson who was teammates with Leonhard for 3 years: "I have a deep debt to Jimmy. When I first made the transition to safety Jimmy was that one guy who took time out of his own schedule to help me grasp the defense, to learn the playbook from a defensive standpoint. He helped to smooth that transition out for me." And Chris Brown added what he heard about Leon-hard's physical condition following surgery for a torn patellar tendon last year: "The feedback I was able to get concerning his workout with the Bills Friday morning is that he’s not all the way back yet from his surgery to repair a torn patellar tendon. 15. If that's the case the Bills should just cut Lindell. Just kidding Dukeybomb. Also, "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain… "
  16. Thanks, jimmyo. That makes sense from the standpoint that when doing special teams drills, instead of having to change jerseys to differentiate kicking team from receiving team, they can simply don the vaunted yellow caps.
  17. My buddy also got NFL Sunday Ticket for free without realizing it. Also, DirecTV came out to his house and washed his car which he was also unaware of… until the neighbors told him. Some people have all the luck.
  18. Also, "what is the sound of one hand clapping?" And," if a tree falls in the woods and no one is there, does it make a sound?" I thought he commemorated that occasion in week 3… or did he change that at some point?
  19. This thread is rolling downhill. That was the main reason he beat me at marbles. It's also the reason he would crush me at bowling. I found out too late in life that marbles, no matter how large, simply don't have enough mass to knock over a bowling pin.
  20. Who's paintmyhouse? That almost sounds familiar. Must be one of the little people on my ignore list.
  21. You're talking about George Wilson? What are those yellow things some of the guys wear on their helmets? Anyone?
  22. Sounds like a nice break from the usual sanitized vacation experience. You traded off some sleaze tolerance for some real hedonism. Good trade-off every once in awhile! Great story too.
  23. He'd probably be glad to do it… in fact he might want to buy the poster from you. Who knows?
