  1. You assume? LOL. I didn't refute your last point because I realized that you're so entrenched in your position that it was pointless to have a discussion with you. You're in full-blown defensive mode. And I don't engage in name calling or discussions with those that do.
  2. I like some of the points you make, Uncle but this is my specific concern regarding our receiving corps: Not enough difference makers. Semantically you can call them playmakers or whatever but I don't think the Bills have enough of them. I count three. Steve Johnson, Fred Jackson, CJ Spiller. I think for an offense to have an opportunity to be elite, you need at least 4 guys to threaten the defense with. Chandler and David Nelson are nice players but I don't think they're quite in that category which I'm talking about. And we only have one wideout who really needs to be game planned for.
  3. The Bills could have taken Russell Wilson but instead chose to move up to draft T.J. Graham. Graham was drafted at #69… Wilson at #75. I hope the Bills made the right choice here.
  4. I'll make it simpler for you. In my opinion the preponderance of evidence/opinion/and coaches comments suggest that Evans couldn't execute the things which would add value to the offense. In light of this, why would others need to provide visual evidence of this? The person challenging the consensus (that's you) bears the burden of proof and should show visual evidence which refutes the consensus. If you disagree, that's fine. As for your comments about my "double talk" and "posting just to post as usual," I'll disagree with you.
  5. Almost as bad as my animal husbandry crack. Anyways I haven't heard if the Cheatriots*** have extended an offer to Burress but I do know that Chad Johnson is now available!
  6. Apparently Stevie Johnson got the message that talk is cheap and decided that his motivational tactics needed to have a little bit more teeth to them.
  7. Well we're up to two issues now… blocking, and the willingness to go over the middle. Rhetorically speaking, what if someone asked you to provide proof that Evans will go over the middle? Who bears the burden of proof on this? I will say this. Most wideouts who are fearless have the reputation of being fearless. Not every wideout is comfortable going over the middle and sacrificing his body so in that sense, Evans is not necessarily in the minority.
  8. Yeah, I forgot about Russell Wilson who I grew very enthused about via the information others were posting about him in this forum. He's both an individual that I'm interested to follow and also another reason I find the Seahawks to be such an interesting team.
  9. I have an interest in all the players that I was high on from previous year's drafts. Some of the guys I loved in the class of 2012 were Bruce Irvin, Lavonte David, and Miles Burris. I'm looking forward to seeing how these players do. I'm fascinated by the Pete Carroll Seahawks and how they've essentially become a contemporary version of the old Oakland Raiders. In the last two years they've drafted and signed (and in some cases cut) guys like Mike Williams, Antonio Bryant, Terrell Owens, Braylon Edwards, Marshawn Lynch, Kellen Winslow and Bruce Irvin. There are lots of other NFL stories I'm fascinated by but these are the ones off the top of my head. Oh, and I was a huge advocate of Cordy Glenn (this seemed like a minority view in the run-up to the draft) and had a conviction that he would be a better player than Riley Reiff or Jonathan Martin.
  10. Yes, it's nice when people are accountable for their opinions and yes, it's nice that the decision makers have enough proficiency that they are not immediately second guessed. That said, the very fact that Clabo, Miller, and Boss all got big contracts validates the opinions of those fans who thought that they were worth big contracts. In other words, it's not only fans who play use "Madden" team-building strategies.
  11. Hey Boyst, have you been practicing a bit too much animal husbandry or am I missing something here?
  12. That said, while several others have questioned this belief, I (in spite of not being a big Pete Carroll fan) believe that Carroll's doing a great job in Seattle and that the Seahawks are gonna be a powerhouse for years to come.
  13. The team played like crap in the game and then practiced like crap after the game. Do you want one of the highest-paid, most-visible players on the team to: 1) Express dissatisfaction with the performance, say it's not good enough, and that the team must play better? or 2) Not say anything? (essentially act like Jauron) The mechanism of calling out one's teammates in public can be an effective and necessary action. I don't understand the negativity towards Stevie on this one. Maybe those people who don't want to hear players talk (because… talk is cheap?) shouldn't follow media accounts of the team.
  14. I was high on Zach Miller and would have gladly settled for Kevin Boss as well. I also wanted the Bills to pursue Tyson Clabo which they did. Bottom line we already had Scott Chandler and Erik Pears on the roster and lo and behold, Pears and Chandler had excellent seasons and Miller and Boss were injury-plagued and ineffective when healthy. I'm glad the Bills held firm on the Clabo negotiations and didn't pursue Miller or Boss. This regime has made some mistakes but their batting average in terms of decision making is certainly several notches above the previous regimes.
  15. Yes it was. I always gave him the benefit of the doubt because of that… in spite of often referring to him as a clown, I always thought he was a harmless clown. This is a major fall from grace.
  16. Not sure I agree. I could be wrong but it seems to me like the Bills run an offense that's not easy to pick up quickly. As far as injuries go, you can't predict them. Fitz does get rid of the ball quickly but he's often throwing with minimum protection too.
  17. I don't disagree. However the concern then becomes how long it would take even a seasoned veteran to pick up this offense without the benefit of OTAs, minicamp practices, training camp, and exhibition games.
  18. Whatever, Meathead. The discussion is a bit semantics and a bit pointless distinctions. Any guy who played QB in college (both Young and Smith) who played in a spread option offense can probably effectively run the Wildcat. Guys like Cam Newton, Colin Kapernick, etc. It's football. If you're worried about Young getting injured you don't make him your primary backup… you keep Thiggy or get someone else who will be the "conventional" backup quarterback. You use Young as a "third-down quarterback" who comes in as a change of pace… someone who can run or throw on a 3rd and 3. Call him your number 3 quarterback if it makes you happy. One of my points is that Brad Smith has proven zero in terms of his "versatility." That makes his skill set redundant to Young's. How many teams have a player like Brad Smith who is supposedly versatile and who supposedly saves roster spots? What value does he really add? IMO, keep the better player not both of them. You're gonna have to dumb down the offense for Young anyways based on the fact that he's just learning it and the offensive system is entering its 3rd year. You can keep Thiggy on the roster then… call him your "backup"… or call him your "disaster QB"… call him whatever pleases you. Just because people don't agree with the "distinctions" between a 2nd and a 3rd quarterback doesn't make them wrong. And as I said in an earlier conversation on this topic a few weeks ago… I'd be pleased as punch if Brad Smith suddenly started playing well enough to justify his roster spot. But in my opinion, he hasn't done that yet.
  19. Yes, Moore is a very impressive talent. I was sorry Dotson was injured and I thought Jarron Gilbert might be the guy who came out of the woodwork but Kyle Moore was quite a revelation.
  20. I'm a big Moats fan but it looks to me like Morrison is a better run player than Moats. I was also very surprised how many snaps McKillop got with the first team defense. It seems like he split time pretty evenly with Sheppard… making Gailey's remarks suggesting the media put words in his mouth (about Sheppard having wrapped up the starting job) even more interesting.
  21. Apparently we watched different games because I just watched the first half for the 3rd time and Glenn did an excellent job on Orakpo. Twice did Orakpo completely sell out on an outside rush and both times Glenn used his long arms to push him past the pocket. Pears' injury has kind of cleared the way for Glenn to win the LT job over Hairston. The coaching staff wants the rookie Glenn to concentrate on one spot only and while saying that Hairston is competing for the LT job, has somewhat earmarked Hairston for swing tackle duty as well. My observation is that Glenn has much better feet than does Hairston. Hairston still looks to have a hard time sinking his hips… watch him in his two-point stance… he's still a "waist bender." Glenn sits down in his stance much more easily. What down are you talking about? The only play in which Orakpo even got close was first down when he looped outside, was pushed by the pocket, and Fitz stepped up to throw but Kerrigan pushed Rhinehart back into Fitz' face. Orakpo NEVER had a "clean shot" at Fitz. Not once.
