  1. I'm very loyal to Van but I remember Meltzer and I thought that he too was an excellent play-by-play guy.
  2. I now remember that you had explained this once before. My memory isn't what it used to be… and I fly into rages at times… and have dark thoughts. Or those… wait. I can't top that one.
  3. When I saw that drinkTHEkoolaid had posted in a thread about experimentation I got excited. Does this mean that dev/null and his magnificent hypnotoad will be making a special guest appearance? BTW, this is an interesting topic. I did notice Chandler's deficiencies in blocking. On the one play he seemed angry with himself. I was conflicted about Gailey's approach to both games. I almost prefer that they would follow the "standard script" of an NFL game and attempt some rudimentary mastering of standard operating procedures. His comments about running the ball in the first presser after the first game (when they passed 16 consecutive plays) seemed odd to me. There's definitely some aspect of the Mad Scientist that seems to be going on. One could argue that he really knows what he's doing or that he's a bit lost. I've decided to follow the advice of those who say to not worry about it and wait to see the baby… not the snapshots.
  4. Also those with youthful enthusiasm and people who exhibit verve and charisma.
  5. I've heard that as a result of Jauron's coaching that Trent now compulsively balances his checkbook every night.
  6. I'll never forgive Dierdorf for one particular visit to Buffalo when he was on Monday Night Football. He mocked our community with barely concealed contempt. Does anyone else remember this? He parroted facts that people had obviously given to him in good faith about the WNY region with a laughing contempt… running down the list like it was a joke. It was clear that proud Buffalonians had acted as area ambassadors to him during the MNF crews visit and he repaid this with mocking scorn on national TV. I'm not a hateful person or a grudge holder but I wish for bad things to happen to that fat !@#$. Pompous fat, windbag idiot.
  7. That's a better theory than the wafer theory although does Tebow even drink? I thought I'd read that he's a virgin and that he doesn't use profanity. I mean this is a guy who says prayers for Santonio Holmes every night.
  8. Yes, the anti-cholesterol thing is pretty amazing… as is the general demonizing of fats instead of sugars.
  9. Good post, Sullivan. You make some excellent points. Did people attempt to kiss her every time they were introduced to her? BTW, I'm looking forward to my buddy Sage's upcoming essay on the confounding spelling of the names Torrell Troup(e), Marcel(l) Dar(e)ius, and C(K)raig Urbi©k.
  10. Hopefully Ralph can be there to watch the Bills destroy the Titans. He can then give Bud Adams the double bird he so richly deserves. But Ralph actually has some class so it'll never happen.
  11. Yes… he's much bigger than Prince Amukamura and I doubt anyone would try dunking him in the cold tank. Trent did take a major shot against the Cards… so strange that he had one of the best games of his career against the Chargers in his very next game. Still can't make sense of that sequence of events.
  12. Didn't like Reiff… thought he had much less talent than Glenn. I liked Martin but he's more of a technician… like D'Brickashaw… and not a man-mountain like all the truly great tackles have been…Boselli, Pace, Walter Jones, Jonathan Ogden… etc. Glenn has all the attributes. The irony is that LOTS OF PEOPLE HERE were saying if Glenn busted at left tackle that he'd make a very good RT or guard. That's what they should have been saying about Reiff. Meanwhile Bulaga has again been passed over at left tackle by the Packers. Officially, they're really happy with him at right tackle. I guess that's why they drafted him at #23… to be a solid right tackle.
  13. Were there any guests of high repute? Mr is a term of respect. Apparently he doesn't know you too well. You shoulda told him "It's NOT mister to you, bud."
  14. Ted Darling had a great voice and good style. He was a bit vapid for my tastes… and that was before his demise. Jeanerette is a bit self-parodic. I liked him better when he was second fiddle to Darling… before he started becoming a caricature of himself.
  15. Well you have to admit, those wafers are not gonna win any bake offs. Well… at least he didn't swear at God. Cause we all know that there's no way a person has enough time to do both.
  16. What's your point? That we shouldn't be excited about former 4th round free agents if our own 3rd rounders don't work out? Should I dwell on the bust of first rounder John McCargo and not be happy about 5th rounder Kyle Williams? A roster is made of 53 players who come from all different sources. Well considering that Moats is starting there's that. But I don't now how much you value poop…
  17. Well, Talleywhacker is the starter in Miami so BB might be insistent but he's not necessarily wrong.
  18. And NFL observers are also bullish on injured Eagles backup, Mike Kafka. So this makes me think yet again how well Andy Reid does in coaching up quarterbacks. He seems to get the most out of guys. What WSS's post makes me think about is how everyone was saying Vince Young couldn't beat out Trent Edwards… as if the fact that the Eagles let Young walk meant that they thought Trent was the better QB. Now we see the much-maligned VY giving encouraging signs here in Buffalo while Trent Edwards enjoys his last week of being an NFL quarterback in Philly.
  19. I agree with everything you say. Here's what a lot of people don't understand though. If the NFL charged less for preseason games, they would simply make up the difference by increasing the cost of regular season games. That's how it works. The total amount you pay to attend regular season games is the cost of doing business.
  20. Yeah, that was an epic performance… making tackles and sacking the QB with O-linemen draped on his back.
  21. That's true. On the other hand, I think Nix has built a very attractive roster… one which would have greater appeal to Head Coaching candidates than the one that Gailey walked into.
