  1. Colts switched to a 3-4? Now I remember the talk about whether Freeney and Co. could make the transition. Edwards would be a fit for the Colts. Also, a 3-4 club just lost their starting nose tackle… can't remember who. Kellen Heard might have some value (7th rounder) for teams needing a nose.
  2. It's a tough call. Now Strahan vs Pierre Paul? That's a discussion.
  3. The Colts can't watch any of the video on Merriman? They don't have the ability to independently evaluate him? How about all the talk that he doesn't fit a 4-3 system. C'mon dude. You gotta do better than this. Please.
  4. I'm sure in the 7 pages of posts in this topic, you'll find opinions justifying the placement of Troup on IR.
  5. Not seeing too much in the posts so far that I would agree with. My take is that this is a sign that the Bills saw what we saw against Minnesota… Sheppard struggling. Morrison is fighting for the strong side spot and they want to give him reps at MLB because he's played well there in the past, they might need him to play their in the future, and it gives him greater value to the team as a whole, being able to man two positions. I think that giving Morrison reps at MLB has zero to do with McKillop. I believe that they simply don't want to entrust the starting MLB spot to a rookie quite yet. To summarize: Bad sign for Sheppard. Good sign for Morrison. Irrelevant for McKillop.

  7. You dummies. Just hold up a cardboard placard that says covac23. Why is everything so damned complicated these days?
  8. From Tim Graham's Bills report in today's News: "Brad Smith did not wear the red no-contact quarterback jersey for a third straight day and worked out instead with the receivers. Gailey is running this week's practice schedule as though it's the regular season. The third quarterback generally runs the scout team to simulate the upcoming opponent's offense. Tyler Thigpen has been doing that this week." Significant or not?
  9. I'm glad you have a healthy outlook on your fantasy sports. I've played fantasy football since the mid-80s and say that with a bit of self-loathing. I shudder to think how much time I've spent "scouting, drafting, making the lineup, making trades, arguing for rule changes, etc. We're talking many thousands of hours… and I'm not convinced that it's been time well-spent.
  10. Glad to hear that Morrison is getting some MLB reps… I suggested the Bills try him there after the Sheppard debacle against Minny. As most people here know, the decision to add Morrison to the MLB mix is actually a no-brainer as that is the position at which Morrison played his best NFL football.
  11. MJD is a petulant millionaire? Is he more or less petulant than Kahn? Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see where you're getting "petulant." MJD has largely said nothing about his holdout. Kahn is blabbing to the media about "the bus leaving and Jones-Drew had better run to catch it." MJD thinks he's worth more than he's being paid under his current contract. That doesn't make him petulant. MJD is right up there with Brunell, Boselli, Fred Taylor, and Jimmy Smith as the greatest Jaguars in history. He's always conducted himself with class and has never said anything but positive things about the organization. You can criticize his decision to holdout but to call him petulant is way off.
  12. Mario seems like a great athlete but I don't think he's quite elite as a pass rusher. He certainly can't bend the edge like Bruce did. He seems a bit taller and stiffer than Bruce however maybe a bit more powerful… plus he has that huge wingspan. I think Gailey or Nix very recently said something to the effect that he'll have a greater effect than the numbers will show and I think that is true. Mario will get in passing lanes, bat balls down, get a lot of hurries and a good number of sacks. He'll be stout against the run. But I don't think he'll exceed his own personal best. Hope I'm wrong though.
  13. Thanks, EA. I appreciate the encouragement. I'm afraid I obscured my own points. Thanks for giving the much more effective "Cliff Notes" version.
  14. I'll agree with this part of you opinion. Brandon lied and hasn't been taken to task for it. And yes, the Bills got one over on Rogers in the first five year agreement. However in spite of less favorable terms, the Bills and Rogers have extended the series for 5 more years and I doubt the Bills would have extended it if it didn't greatly benefit their pocket book. Not as lucrative as the first five years but no one had a gun to the Bills heads so no… the exhibition game wasn't forced on anyone. They made the deal willingly.
  15. I'll spell it out for you cause it seems you're looking for a meaning that's not there. My point on the Eagles season is that there are lots of posters here who refuse to let the Bills off the hook for their injury-riddled finish to last season… totally dismissing their 5-2 start. It's funny to me that one can explain a different team's season in two chapters but it's not valid to apply the same lens to the Bills season. The link I provided was a different point altogether… this is a Vick thread and I posted a link that was "fresh off the presses" for everyone's consumption.
  16. Oh. Another team that had a schizophrenic first half/second half performance. So they're not really an 8-8 team? Here's a take on Vick and his contract from this morning's PFT: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/08/23/2012-is-a-make-or-break-year-for-mike-vick/
  17. Aren't you supposed to mention southwest Connecticut too?
  18. You claim to be humble but others have described you as being prideful at the moderator position.
  19. The last time they tried to retire "Shout" there was a fan mutiny.
  20. Well I'll comment and postulate without really knowing. Wilson was a high 3rd rounder so that's not an epic slide by any means. Secondly, scouts don't draft and in fact in most cases are not in the war room. Finally the draft falls a certain way partly due to team needs and circumstances. These might not be sufficient explanations but it's all I have. That, and the comparisons stylistically to Brees are only due to their height. Wilson actually plays quite a bit like Steve McNair… he's a much better athlete than Brees and is much stronger and thicker.
