My buffalo bills curse!! its fun read!
San Jose Bills Fan replied to brenty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As billscursed says, there is no curse. But once you're done burning the candle, dig a small hole in your backyard, place the candle in it along with a cupful of Flutie Flakes, a whole bulb of garlic, the left knee of an eel, and a Rob Johnson-like head band. Pour gasoline over the whole thing and light it on fire. After it's burned down a bit, urinate on everything to put out the fire and backfill the hole. Put some football cleats on and jump on the pile to tamp it down until it's level. You must follow these instructions to the letter. 2-2? -
Football stereotypes...
San Jose Bills Fan replied to BillsPride12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
BTW, the two leading sackers in the NFL are both caucasian, as is last year's sack leader. How bad is that for the stereotype business? -

Laughable? The Bills had to sell a certain number of season tickets in order to trigger a clause in the lease which would extend the lease. The tickets were not selling. Period. Then Flutie took over, the Bills started winning and the tickets started selling like hot cakes. How is that laughable? How many playoff games did Rob Johnson win in his career? How many teams did he lead to the playoffs? Johnson played a mediocre game against a weak defense. The weather was not a factor in that game. There was no wind to speak of. You're just being an apologist for Johnson. There's no objectivity in your posts on this subject. You think Johnson could have been "a pretty good quarterback for the Bills?" He wasn't good enough in Buffalo and he wasn't good enough when he was given a chance later on in his career with Jon Gruden. Johnson remains the most sacked quarterback per pass attempt in NFL history. His brain didn't function quickly enough to be a starting quarterback in the NFL. Do you actually remember Rob Johnson as a player? How many times would you say he ran out of bounds for a loss instead of throwing the ball away? What would you say to the criticisms of Rob Johnson that he was so concerned about his stats that he would rather take a sack or run out of bounds for a sack than throw an incompletion? Do you remember comments attributed to his offensive linemen that they were annoyed that he would take so many sacks and make them look bad? To criticize Flutie is one thing… but to even try to construct some sort of scenario where Rob Johnson could have been a good NFL quarterback (as in your post 79 above) is ludicrous. -

"Rob" was 10-22 for 131 yards so I don't know about "spot on." Antowain Smith had 2 rushing TDs though. -
McKelvin was friendly with Maybin… maybe he could get Maybin's secret on the 50 pound weight fluctuation secret. Here we go again with the name calling. I think he's dead… would you settle for C. Thomas Howell? He was a fairly young actor who starred with Rutger Hauer in a movie called "The Hitcher." I think he'd be a better choice. I think Hank Jr. would be better. Senior is dead and junior could bellow "I'm Hank Williams Junior B word" and smack someone. The debate is Mary Ann or Ginger. There is no third choice. You mean, "don't judge me again?" As for Florence, I wonder what Florence Henderson looks like these days?

(Updated) RIP Alex Karras
San Jose Bills Fan replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pretty big sports figure when I was a kid. Karras was actually done playing when I was old enough to know him but between being a prominent topic in Jerry Kramer's "Instant Replay" (to Kramer, Merlin Olsen and Alex Karras were the two best DTs in the NFL), his true-life role in George Plimpton's "Paper Lion" and his film role in Disney's "The 500 Pound Jerk" as well as his later stint on Monday Night Football, Karras was a pretty big star. It looks like he will go before us. May he be in peace. -
Aaron Maybin is a hell of an artist
San Jose Bills Fan replied to SageAgainstTheMachine's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Very interesting responses in this thread and I'm glad to see that Maybin is not being demonized and that many posters seem to be open-minded about him. I think his mother also died when he was very young. He actually seems like a good guy. Too bad the idiot front office at the time drafted him 11th overall. -

The playoff game where he threw for 360 yards and twice (and almost 3 times) brought the Bills back from a deficit? Yeah, Wade is just not head coaching material. Great coordinator though… as everyone points out. 1) Yeah but Flutie won consistently with that great defense and Johnson lost consistently with that great defense. 2) The play where Thurman was attempting to block their best pass rusher, Trace Armstrong (who finished his career with over 100 sacks)? 3) That's the point. He was better than Rob Johnson. Everything else is immaterial. We didn't start the better player. The defense that Johnson consistently lost with during his Buffalo tenure? You're wrong. How about the fumble by Moulds or the whiff of a block by Thurman? That was one of the most exciting games I've ever seen. Flutie led them back three times… the last time unsuccessfully. He played with great heart. The defense which Johnson consistently lost with as the Bills quarterback? Well, Flutie's certainly a God to me. Anyone who saves this franchise is a God to me. Before Flutie took over, the Bills were losing under Rob Johnson and the season ticket sales were totally stagnant. It wasn't until Flutie took over and finished the season 10-3 that the season ticket sales surged and the lame ass "Buffalo Backs the Bills" campaign by the business leaders ended up succeeding. Had the Bills continued losing under Johnson which was very likely, the lease extension would not have been activated and the Bills would likely have left Buffalo. To me, Flutie saved the franchise so forgive me for putting him on a pedestal. So we have strong evidence that Wade wasn't a strong enough leader to hold the team together but it's Flutie's fault… even with testimony by one of his former teammates that the team was behind Flutie? And your last two sentences are completely nonsensical. The controversy took too long because of Flutie? We wasted seasons because of Flutie? Did Flutie prevent the Bills from getting a better quarterback? Did he prevent a better quarterback from playing? The answers are no, and no. -
Cowboys might be close to cutting Moorman?

Many people here didn't seem to realize it. I think many people were preoccupied in wanting to scream bloody murder that Moorman was released that they didn't quite process all of the details. -

Matrimony. Yep. It was the same offseason in which he tried to sign Israel Idonije. There was something about the structure of restricted free agents tenders which Marv thought that he could possibly exploit. I can't remember if they changed the rules or not but Marv's attempts proved to be an unsuccessful ruse at navigating through the vagaries of free agency. -

By all accounts, Pinto Kenny is The Man. We were hoping to meet him today at Candlestick but like the rest of the day, our plans went awry. From start to finish, today was a complete debacle… but not a surprise.
