  1. Totally agree. Granted we can't compare ourselves to NFL coaches but IMO, an empty set is ridiculous unless the offense is facing a 3rd and 30 or a hail mary situation. Having the RB back there gives the QB both a receiver and an extra pass blocker. I just don't get the empty set.
  2. See. Now you can teach your kids that when you question someone's veracity and then insult them, that it's alright to apologize afterwards. Good job.
  3. You won't try and reason because you can't change the words that you wrote. First you attacked and insulted and afterwards, you tried to revise what happened with your claims of "difference of opinion". You would do well to quit. Short of an apology, it would be your best play.
  4. This discussion brings to mind 3 things: 1) I've heard opinions about why Mark Anderson is less effective this year than he was last year as a situational player. Just today, Jaguars Head Coach Mike Mularkey said that DE Jeremy Mincey is less effective the more he plays. Mincey had 8 sacks last year as a part time player, zero this year as a starter. As has been mentioned here before, there's something called "The Law of Diminishing Returns." The diminishing returns could take the form of another injury (don't forget the shoulder injury Spiller suffered a few weeks ago) or it could take the form of decreased yards per carry, or fumbles. 2) Fred Jackson is still not 100% I believe he's still playing with a brace on his knee and it's obvious that he's not yet back to 100%. That said, he did great grunt work in the last game (aside from his fumble), getting tough yards, catching the ball, and doing his usual great job in pass protection. 3) I think the issue here is the balance/ratio of touches. Currently Spiller has 60 carries and 13 receptions for 73 touches. Freddy has 44 carries and 9 receptions for 53 touches. So currently Spiller has gotten 53% of the work while Freddy has gotten 47% I could see an argument for Spiller getting 2-3 more touches each game (resulting in 2-3 touches fewer for Freddy) but not much more than that. IMO, Freddy is gonna improve as the season goes on and also, I think some of Spiller's effectiveness is because he's not overworked and because he's a good contrast in style from Freddy.
  5. This isn't an attack?: "I notice an uncanny ability to dodge the topic you're being challenged on, then reply with more gibberish to deflect criticism. I predict a solid career in politics for you, if you want it." You call that a "difference of opinion?" Previous to that gem, you attacked this post: By your reply: Is this the "classiness" you were referring to? Also let's get one other thing clear. You didn't hurt my feelings. You insulted me. It's not the same thing but I won't confuse you with the distinction. A person of your depth should live by this one rule of thumb: Less is more.
  6. How often have they done a country star? The only time I remember is from one of the Bills Super Bowls. As I recall it wasn't one country star but a whole slew of them. I remember Travis Tritt, The Judds, and Clint Black and there might have been one or two others. Now you're going way back and way obscure.
  7. Says the hypocrite who attacks others, unprovoked. You'd better stick to musical opinions because you don't seem to know much about sports, little fella.
  8. Coming from you, I'm not surprised by this opinion.
  9. Oh I see. Music can be compared to many fields of endeavor but not sports. Gotcha. And you could have been a lot more to the point and less confusing had you simply said, "IMO as a musician, music and sports are different in terms of practice and its effects on learning." It would still be a weak point but at least it would have been understandable instead of all of the mind-numbingly inefficient and unclear paragraphs that you wrote (replete with insults and extreme skepticism of my involvement in music). Nice filibuster.
  10. I'm psyched that Carrington is playing his way into more snaps. I think between he and Mario that the Bills will be getting quite a few batted balls this year.
  11. That thing looks great. The only way it could be better is if it had a recorded voice of former NFL ref Red Cashion saying "First Down!"
  12. Pete Carroll annoys the hell out of me and always has. But he's done an excellent job in Seattle, IMO.
  13. Thanks for the compliments. People who know me typically accuse me of being too blunt… but your observations have been way off so far so no big surprise. And politics? My career in commercial construction is working out just fine, thanks.
  14. Very magnanimous post. I don't think you need to apologize considering the Eagles under Andy Reid have won over 60% of their games. They are a winning organization although one that seems to be falling into a bad period right now. Looks like the end for Reid in Philly is near. Undoubtedly he'll be the head coach of some other NFL team next year if he's let go.
  15. I don't know if he can run with the ball or not but he sure can run without it. Being at the last two games, it's amazing how much respect he gets when he's on coverage teams. Players on the other side basically move out of his way to avoid getting destroyed. CMac is one of the best special teams big guys I've ever seen. He is fast though I can't speak for his running instincts. I do however believe he can catch the ball well. Do you remember that catch he made up the left sidelines in the preseason? He totally plucked the overthrown pass. Last week following Jay Feely's 61 yard FG, Feely clanged the kickoff off the cross bar and CMac nonchalantly reached out and plucked the carom out of the air. I think he's got excellent hands. I wish they would give him the ball from scrimmage once or twice per game, either run or catch. Also I wanted the Bills to sign Mike Tolbert/Cedric Benson/Michael Bush this past offseason so we could have a power back on the roster although Freddy did a real nice job on Sunday getting the tough yards.
  16. Dude, do you play golf? In every human endeavor I've participated in, I've had long periods where I wasn't improving interspersed with breakthrough moments where something just clicked. Throwing a football is a mechanical motion like a golf swing. I'll never forget the day I was finally able to exorcise the slice from my 3 iron. I find it hard to believe that your improvement in life is always at a constant steady rate. I would guess that that's different than most people. And having played sports and music, I don't find them to be very different at all. Finally I could name numerous athletes who made "jumps" in their careers as opposed to steady improvement. But whatever.
  17. The Arizona Bills Backers did an unbelievable job. There was a Friday night Pub Crawl, a Saturday Stadium Tour followed by a golf tournament, a Saturday Night Party with former Bills players, a Sunday morning tailgate, etc etc. The estimates were that there were at least 5000 Bills fans at the game and the stadium capacity is about 65000 meaning that 1 out of every 13 attendees was a Bills fan. And we were loud and proud!!! p.s. And Pinto Kenny was there for his 299th consecutive Bills game. He's attended over 400 games but the Titans game will be his 300th in a row. I was very honored to be introduced to him and Mrs. Pinto Kenny by our poster here, Jamie Nails and do a shot out of the infamous bowling ball. It was a great weekend. It was great meeting Jamie Nails this week and Calbear last week. Absolutely great guys. Big disappointment that NewEra and I kept missing each other. Hopefully next time.
  18. Funny thing, on each of those three plays, McKelvin was right there but the quarterback made a perfect throw and the receiver made an exceptional catch. It was like he was beaten by one inch on each of those three plays. I'll actually say three nice things about Leodis: 1) When his lawn was vandalized after the fumbled kickoff which lost us the home opener to the Cheatriots***, he was very cool about it and handled the situation very well. 2) When he was benched last year the reports were that he went to the coaching staff and asked them to let him return kickoffs and punts (which he wasn't doing when he was a starting CB). That's how a guy is supposed to respond to a benching. 3) At Candlestick 2 games ago, I went down to the tunnel to cheer the Bills at the top of my lungs as they went to the locker room down 21-3. Three players acknowledged me. Marcell Dareus nodded his head at me, Kelvin Sheppard gave me a thumbs up, and Leodis gave me a fist pump and nodded his head. 4) Actually there's a 4th thing. He heard me screaming his name as he prepared to field a kickoff against the Cards and turned around and started grooving to the music and pointing to the crowd. I think Leodis, regardless of his football abilities is just a cool guy. Pretty humble and simple and straight-forward. At least that's my impression of him.
  19. I also trumpeted Trestman numerous times before the Bills settled on Gailey. I think he has sterling credentials and is one of the elite offensive strategists and quarterback gurus. The only thing about Trestman as I recall is that he's had a bit of a Lou Saban-like vagabondesque coaching career.
  20. Anyways Carrington said he tipped it and that fact was corroborated by his teammates. I wonder why any of them would feel the need to lie or why their would be a conspiracy to lie.
  21. No, unfortunately many people here do not bother reading through a topic before posting. Kind of a reflection on our society that people react without reading things through. You'd best get used to it. I somewhat understand when people don't bother reading through a topic with lots of replies but you'll also see people not reading through a very short topic and then repeating things that have already been written AND responded to. It'll be like someone posts "I can't remember who the Bills Coach was before Dick Jauron" and then you'll get "Mike Mularkey" "Mike Mularkey" Mike Mularkey" Mike Mularkey" etc. by about five different posters. One of the posters at the tailgate who mostly lurks here was mentioning this unfortunate behavior.
  22. Wow. You don't know anything about what sports and what instruments I played growing up. I played organized sports for years. I was also a music major. In college. Even as a regular student of maths, sciences, and language I've found that learning isn't always linear or in direct proportion to practice/study. What makes you so expert that you attack my statements (which many teachers and coaches would affirm)? Do you think humans are programmed like computers? You've never had something "click" after pounding your head against it with no results? Your skepticism is of an ugly variety (your last line and the use of quotations) and your questioning the honesty of my opinion is kind of weird to tell the truth. You're so wise as to judge that I'm spinning some fiction for God knows what reason? What reason is it by the way? I'm dying to hear the reasons for your skepticism of my opinions and why I might be lying? Is there something I have to gain here by being untruthful?
  23. And having just watched NFL Game Rewind (we were at the game in Glendale) of the Bills game, Hairston played very well. He actually has me convinced that he could be a starting left tackle for a lot of teams. I don't see how Hairston won't eventually take Pears' job. He's becoming a very good football player. As for Spencer, I'm pretty sure this is his last season in Buffalo.
  24. I don't hold out a lot of hope that Fitz will become a better passer but I will say that sometimes as an athlete, a musician, or a student, you will practice certain techniques over and over and instead of a gradual improvement, you'll find that after a period of zero improvement that suddenly you'll make a big jump. In other words, improvement is not always linear and not always in direct proportion to how much you practice. There is still a chance that David Lee and Fitz' mechanical overhaul will eventually lead to a better passer. And the improvement could happen suddenly. I'm not predicting this but I am saying that I've seen it happen before.
