  1. I'm glad all the responses have been in good fun… so far. Not to jinx things but I don't expect that to last.
  2. Having seen last week's game 3 times now, Aaron Williams played his best game of the season, FWIW. He was beaten only once in the first quarter when Kolb beat the blitz and threw an indefensible pass to Michael Floyd over Williams' outstretched hand. After that he was not exploited at all. I love "The Senator" but his tackling has been very shaky this year. Several times I've seen RBs just run through his tackles. He's looking more and more to me like a guy who the Bills will want to upgrade, either via Searcy or someone else. I wonder if the Bills would have taken Mark Barron had he been available. I think JJ Watt would be fine in any scheme. He's that great a player IMO.The ONLY thing that bothered my about the Marcell Dareus pick is that it was such a great draft for defensive linemen so in that sense, it might have been a better strategy to pick one later on or even (here goes), trade down. For instance, JJ Watt, Aldon Smith and Robert Quinn look like premier players. I also loved Cam Jordan who has been misused by the Saints, as well as Cam Heyward. That's not to mention two guys who I was not sold on, DaQuan Bowers and Adrian Clayborne. And in the aftermath of the draft I wrote here that the Jets got great value with Muhammad Wilkerson and that he might become every bit the player Marcell Dareus is at a much lower cost.Other than the fact that there were so many other great D-linemen available, I had no complaints with the Dareus pick. I was very high on Von Miller who many here thought was the next Aaron Maybin.
  3. I think Stevie, Spiller, and Freddy are excellent weapons and our offensive line is excellent. If nothing else, the Bills have created a pretty nice context in which to drop a quarterback. All the offense is really missing besides QB is a legit wideout opposite Stevie (I'm not talking slot guy). You're not alone. LOL. TJax and Flynn being inactive on Sundays as they learn the offense.
  4. You know, I went to the AZ game, watched the condensed version on NFL Game Rewind and then re-watched it in regular mode. Kelsay got some good pressure on the QB but as usual he was losing outside containment regularly, getting caught and sealed inside effortlessly by the TEs. I hate to rag on a player who's reputed to be an excellent human being, teammate and an exemplary professional. But Kelsay has zero football instincts. On the bright side, he didn't bite on the play action and lose containment on a naked bootleg this week so that's a positive. Anyways, Merriman is (ironically because he's really a 3-4 OLB playing 4-3 DE) a better run defender than Kelsay so I hope that Kyle Moore continues to get snaps and that Merriman's snaps come at Kelsay's expense.
  5. It does seem odd in this day and age but on the other hand, how many guys ignore their high blood pressure or arterial blockage?
  6. And his press conferences are borderline sociopathic. He seems like every bit the A-hole that Belichick is but obviously both of them are great coaches. Great analogy. I enjoyed the game very much. The QBs aren't great and didn't look good but certainly that had something to do with the outstanding defenses as well.
  7. Great point. If we could come up with a top talent at QB, then getting Bowe during the offseason would be a nice complimentary move. I wonder what the free agent WR class is looking like this year. Last year it was Meachem, Laurent Robinson, and Pierre Garcon. Not terribly impressive at the time and even less so after 6 weeks of the season.
  8. I wonder how Tannehill measures up to Wilson, Flacco, and Romo? ABSOLUTELY FREAKING AWESOME!!! Very Well Done!!!!! Tallywacker? I miss Crayonz.
  9. Exactly. At the point in which he confronted the heckler face to face would have been a good time to change tacks.
  10. Anyways Alpha, it appears to be mostly speculation without much basis. This captures it pretty nicely: http://www.thephinsider.com/2012/10/17/3519064/dolphins-not-in-dwayne-bowe-trade-talks-with-kansas-city
  11. So I was gonna start another thread about this but I try not to clutter up the board too much. This was a highly-anticipated game between two good teams, a division grudge match, and a personal grudge match between the two coaches. Also there's been a movement here and elsewhere in believing that the NFL pendulum will swing back towards running the football. So last night we had two great defenses, two great running attacks, lots of smash mouth plays, and mediocre quarterbacking. That having been said, what did everyone think of the game last night? Did you enjoy a tough, competitive game with a minimum of passing game highlights or did the game become boring?
  12. Nope. The closest was the University of Michigan's Co-National Championship Season (Nebraska) in 1997. I'm only hard core about the Bills and to a lesser degree, the Sabres.
  13. Maybe he was just referring to the trajectory thing where a field goal of that length is typically hit on a lower (driver-like) trajectory.

  15. One thing that was mentioned in the linked article and hasn't been mentioned is that Williams is just 22 years old. I'm not defending him but for fairness in the discussion, this could be relevant. Williams might still be a bit immature. Different guys develop at different rates. Both athletically and otherwise (including… ah never mind). Not happy with the pick so far but still holding out hope…
  16. Regardless, as mentioned before, Peterson made an elite-talent kind of play on that pick. However the offensive execution was still flawed. The other Bills receiver shouldn't have been anywhere near Donald Jones. Had he broken off his route earlier, Peterson wouldn't have been able to make that play.
  17. From a league-wide standpoint, I find this to be a bigger issue than lack of practice. Every game you see players trying to blow up the opponent with a missile strike kind of tackle instead of wrapping, and driving through. Speaking of high school and colleges, I think that in many sports possibly including pro football that good fundamentals are taught better at the lower levels because the pro game is so complex that fundamentals are often overlooked. I know a lot of people who prefer college hoops to the NBA for this very reason of good fundamentals.
  18. You know Stealth, I understand your argument but don't I don't buy that Spiller would get better with more touches. There are two classic old adages about NFL running backs. "They get better with more carries" and "they get stronger as the game wears on." A lot of this has been explained before as 1) getting warmed up and 2) when you get a bit fatigued, your instincts take over and you become a more instinctive runner. From a common-sense standpoint, a runner will get better with more carries until he reaches the point where he's just getting tired and worn down with more carries. Obviously no player has run the ball 50 times in a game and there's an obvious reason for that. So to me, this discussion revolves around how the workload is split. Spiller has 20 more touches after 6 games. I agree he could see the ball a bit more but I'm staunch in thinking that the Bills do not want to overwork him. Also to the OP, as I said before, the whole "starter" issue is immaterial. Workload is the issue.
  19. Nothing beats the Senator's visual comparison of Jimmy Clausen with the large, flightless, Australian bird, the Emu.
  20. BTW, earlier this season Troy Aikman made the comment that Romo is a better quarterback than he (Aikman) ever was. Someone besides Aikman also made a public statement about Romo's excellence but I can't recall who at the moment.
  21. Ridiculously tremendous. Seriously though, I wonder how he would do as a Wildcat Quarterback?
