  1. Absolutely true. Because his nickname has latin origins I can already see his bust in Canton. They could do a classical motif in the form of an oracular god. I wonder how many first rounders it would take to move up for him.
  2. I think the disconnect in this discussion comes down to (as always), a matter of degree. I'm reminded of the current bestseller title "Fifty Shades of Grey." Our world is filled with mostly grey area but somewhere in there is a line and many here feel that the line has been crossed. I think the people who are complaining about conditions at The Ralph are saying that fan behavior has crossed the line into something sad, unfortunate, ugly, and shameful. I'm not a puritan or a prude and probably am in the upper 90th percentile in terms of partying for my age and I bet a lot of the people who are complaining about fan behavior are in the same boat as me. I don't think anyone is saying that people shouldn't party and have a good time.
  3. Speaking of post-playing careers, I think I've found the perfect transitional job for Kelsay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVNSQ72wvlc
  4. I wonder if "Optimus Klein" will get a higher "Q rating" than RG3 did at last year's combine. Of course neither one of them can touch the Q rating that Megatron posted at the 2007 combine. That score may never be broken and was probably what vaulted him to the second overall pick.
  5. Or to paraphrase the old NRA belief, "Beer doesn't ruin football games, people do." And it's true. Banning beer in the stadium (of course it would never happen) would be unfortunate especially to those people who can actually drink responsibly.
  6. Yeah they usually don't. I wonder if there will be any exceptions to that rule sprouting up anytime soon. From the 2012 draft there are a lot of people who think that Nick Foles, Kirk Cousins, or Russell Wilson could transcend their draft positions.
  7. Because he doesn't want to confuse Chris Kelsay and have Kelsay storm onto the field and futilely start chasing Fitz all over the field. The Bills offense isn't good enough to overcome that sort of disruption.
  8. I will but I'm doing some revisions on it. I realized after I'd composed it that it's almost a note for note copy of America's equine epic, "Wildfire." As such I have to change a few things so I don't run afoul of the intellectual property nazis. It starts, "He came down from Duval County… where he played for just a year… " It's really beautiful.
  9. Well the OP said "and/or" as if from looking at the stats one could legitimately evaluate the talent. Anyways, here's a recent list of the all time NCAA passing leaders: 1. Timmy Chang, Hawaii: (2000-2004) 17,072 yards 2. Graham Harrell, Texas Tech (2005-2008) 3. Ty Detmer, BYU: (1988-91) 15,031 4. Colt Brennan, Hawaii: (2005-07) 14,193 5. Case Keenum, Houston: (2007-present) 13,586 6. Philip Rivers, North Carolina State: (2000-03) 13,484 7. Colt McCoy, Texas: (2004-2008) 12,253 8. Kevin Kolb, Houston: (2003-06) 12,964 9. Dan LeFevour, Central Michigan: (2006-2009) 12,905 10. Tim Rattay, Louisiana Tech: (1997-99) 12,746
  10. I recently composed a little song about the Kirk Morrison situation. It's written for acoustic guitar and voice (the refrain would be in two or three-part harmony) and it's kind of a folk ballad in the the style of the band "America." I call it "The Lonely Linebacker." Would anyone like to hear it?
  11. A contract extension for McGee before Kelsay? Are you out of your mind? There is a natural order to this universe. Don't mess with it.
  12. Your fourth sentence almost torpedoed your entire post. Most posters here could give you a pretty long list of QBs who put up big stats but who didn't have the talent necessary to play in the NFL.
  13. Next time capitalize the word "need" instead of "one" and see how that works out for you. Basically in our society, in return for freedoms we are asked to act responsibly. Or as they say, "with freedom comes responsibility." Unfortunately many Americans embrace the freedom part while ignoring the responsibility part. Not sure what you're saying farmer. It sounds like you're saying that if the NFL and its clubs place too many restrictions on fan behavior then the game day experience will be sanitized and games will no longer be fun to attend. Personally I'd rather a crowd be a bit on the tame side than on the rowdy side. Maybe people can even learn how to be enthusiastic and loud without also being drunk.
  14. Yeah he was an excellent player in Arizona and I would have been happy had he signed with the Bills. Some of these guys are truly warriors. Others not so much.
  15. http://profootballta...-a-torn-biceps/ "Dansby explained that he’s wearing a large brace that keeps him from raising his arm. Dansby says he has been playing with it for only three weeks. Specifically, he says it happened during the second quarter of the Jets game in New York. Dansby also said he has a dislocated finger on the other hand, and that it pops out “every other play.” He said the pain from preparing to play is worse than the pain he endures while playing, but Dansby scoffed at the idea of sitting out. Dansby claims it’s healing, and that he could be out of the brace within a week and a half. “I’m the best,” he said, “that how I feel. And I’m proving it by doing it with one arm. . . . Most guys would have sat out. Most guys would have went and had surgery.”
  16. Lynch's time in Buffalo was over. Probably he wanted it that way. Now how much we got in return for him? That's a different conversation.
  17. I don't know the law. But from a common sense standpoint, I would think that depending on the fine print in the lease, there could certainly be situations where both the landlord and the tenant are co-plaintiffs in an action.
  18. The testimony of those who've been to other stadiums (myself included) seems to be that the Bills crowd is one of the worst in the league. That's too bad. I'd rather that we don't have that sad distinction. I always try to be a Bills ambassador and hope that I can help spread a good image of Bills fans.
  19. Unless Anderson magically becomes a different player than he was before getting injured, I'm not too hopeful about the guy. He seems like a slightly stronger Maybin.
  20. I disagree with this. Hairston has been learning the swing tackle position and has played mostly left tackle because of the injury to Glenn. He had a strong rookie year and did a good job filling in for Glenn this year. Now he's being asked to switch back to right tackle and he played against a superb pass rusher last night. Hairston is gonna be an above average right tackle if he isn't already and Pears was affected by a hip injury all season long before he was shelved. The Bills ROT spot is probably better than the vast majority of teams in the NFL, IMO.
  21. I've also asked in the past whether Powell can kick off. In the history of this league, there have been punters who have kicked off because as you say, a strong leg is a strong leg. I wish someone would ask Gailey this question. Another good point. The Bills NEVER use the QB sneak in spite of having difficulties in that down and distance range. I agree completely. I actually think Chan is a pretty good offensive strategist for the most part but I think his weakness is that he gets too cute sometimes and abandons common sense (ie- taking Spiller out in the redzone). We should use the QB sneak more often. We should occasionally give the FB a touch or two. We should scrap the Wildcat. We should make a point of emphasis on short yardage and have a padded practice to get that part of the offense straightened out. This offense could be better with a few small tweaks. Less trickery and a bit more emphasis on basic football like staying away from empty sets in all but obvious passing situations and using play action more often. The Bills use play action much less than most teams (there was a statistical analysis done by one of the media outlets not long ago) in spite of having very good running backs and a good offensive line AND weaknesses at wide receiver. Some of this offense's tendencies defy simple logic.
  22. We can argue about the definition of "good" but your statement has to at least address Poz and Donte or else it's not forthcoming. Wouldn't Poz be the best linebacker on this football team? In light of George Wilson's struggles in run support isn't it possible that Donte would make our run defense a lot better? Don't mean to hijack but let's evaluate Nix on the entirety of his work.
  23. I haven't reviewed the game yet so I wasn't aware that CMac was on the field on that play. A play in which the Bills had zero timeouts and could only stop the clock with a TD or an incomplete pass. But yeah, let's put the fullback back there so we can make the Dolphins think… what?
  24. Yeah this one is a real doosie. I'm very conflicted as I see all sides of this. While there's a few different ways to feel about it, there's maybe only two morals to the story: 1) Don't ever drink yourself into an incapacitated stupor. 2) If someone you know and love is in the above state, stop everything that you are doing and accompany that person to safety.
