  1. So with regard to RG3, the Redskins gave up three 1sts and a 2nd to move up from 6th to 2nd. What would the Bills have had to give up to move from 10th to 2nd? Would it be worth it to give up four 1sts and a 2nd? No matter how good the guy is, at some point, the price is too high. Not sure when that point is but four 1sts and a 2nd is getting close.
  2. First off, there's a difference between malice and intent. Secondly, that was both IMO.
  3. A few thoughts on that comedy play: 1) Apparently Sanchez is an ass man. 2) Even if Brandon Moore doesn't get fined for a hit to the head, he'll still likely have a very sore angus. 3) Sanchez will be really embarrassed until he remembers that he's going home to Eva Longoria.
  4. That's an encouraging fact if you're Blaine Gabbert. Seriously though, it's been pointed out in this thread that the higher premium placed on QBs causing them to become overdrafted may have changed some of these "rules of thumb." Wadya think of that hypothesis?
  5. Or it was the take of a person with a good life and a good perspective who isn't going to let a bad loss ruin his day.
  6. OR, that ineffable player known as a "difference maker."
  7. Based on the poorly conceived rule, I don't think anyone could assume that there's a corollary to that rule that's well conceived. Yeah. Wouldn't you think that the 15 yard penalty is enough? The NFL's Competition Committee had better get back to the drawing board. OR, they can stand pat as they did with the "Tuck Rule" and pretend that it's a good rule.
  8. My last word on the Bell-Choice debate is that Choice would be unable to make that TD run. That and the Saints certainly treat their running backs 1-4 as valued commodities.
  9. Really? I've been very underwhelmed by Choice. I will grant that he certainly seems to know his assignments but the guy isn't big, fast, strong, quick or elusive. I've said before and say again, he doesn't seem to have any tangible strength to his game. I'd almost rather have a flawed player who does one thing very well.
  10. Schwartz definitely bears some responsibility there but it's still a bad rule, IMO.
  11. The part that doesn't make sense is that because a challenge was improperly made that it supercedes the normal review of a scoring play. That's a bad rule, IMO.
  12. Yeah, for millions of fans not only of Detroit, but of the NFL, millions of people cheering for the underdog just got really pissed off about this. As a result of a poorly conceived rule (and a missed officiating call), Houston gets an undeserved TD and Detroit gets a 15 yard penalty. Something like this really takes the enjoyment out of a game.
  13. I'm surprised the NFL didn't save that one up for a Cheatriots*** game.
  14. It's a bad rule. Apparently if the coach throws a challenge flag, the play as a result cannot be reviewed. What moron thought of that rule? Isn't 15 yards enough of a penalty? They gotta change that one.
  15. Freaking Lil' Wally: "The play cannot be reviewed" It's a scoring play why wouldn't it be reviewed? That's what I thought. Meanwhile the announcers are out to lunch. This could turn into a big mess.
  16. Funny how it's always Suh. With all the stuff from both on and off the field, it's become pretty much impossible to give the guy any benefit of the doubt.
  17. Things get heated around here from time to time, debates turn ugly, feelings get hurt. That said, I hope no one takes anything that happens on this board too seriously. I know most of us aren't grudge holders and that we all come here because it's such a great board with great posters and mods. Happy Thanksgiving to each and every one of you. Thanks also to Scott and the mods. May you all have a safe, healthy, and happy Holiday!
  18. I didn't see the play in question as I'm cooking/baking but the halftime crew was pretty severe in their remarks.
  19. Yep. It's a natural spot to add another network break and pad the ad revenue. LMAO!
  20. You should save and download that picture and keep it for all time sake.
  21. I agree with you and would add that every draft is different because every draft class is a bit different. For instance, when we picked Marcel Dareus I cautioned that the downside was that there were so many great defensive linemen in the draft that we could have traded down and gotten comparable value. That draft included Aldon Smith, JJ Watt, Robert Quinn, DaQuan Bowers, Adrain Clayborne, Cameron Jordan, Cameron Heyward, and Muhammad Wilkerson. Arguably all of these guys were first round talents and most of them ended up going in the first round. Wilkerson was taken near the end of the first round and he looks like a force. My point is that this might be one of those exceptional years where no quarterback is worthy of a high first rounder AND there may be several QBs available in the late first or early second round. The draft strategy has to be tailored to the draft class. Remember though that Drew Brees was a Pro Bowl QB in San Diego.
  22. We've had numerous 2nd round QB studies done on this board but regardless, one of the reasons there are not too many 2nd round success stories at QB is because increasingly, QBs are being overdrafted and taken in the first round when it's not warranted. Teams are desperate for "franchise quarterbacks" and willing to reach for them. That's why it was somewhat surprising that Dalton and Kaepernick were available last year at the top of the 2nd round. Of course part of that was a byproduct of Newton, Clocker, Ponder, and Gabbert going so high. There was probably a time when only Newton would have been taken in the first round. Those times are gone. So the moral of the story as I see it is not that you shouldn't take a 2nd round quarterback but rather, if you don't make a bold (risky) move for a quarterback in the 1st round, you might not have anyone to choose from in the 2nd round.
  23. Wow. I've been real pleased with Carrington. He's continued to improve steadily and is a physical beast. We're seeing a very different player I guess.
  24. Do you think Buffalo fans or anyone other than Jerry Jones would tolerate a guy who beat up his Mom, stiffed a jeweler for $860K, was banned from a shopping mall, and requires a 24-hour security detail to babysit? You brought up Marshawn Lynch? He was run out of town for much less. As I said already, Bryant is an elite talent and really he should arguably already the best receiver in the NFL. He's just lucky he was drafted by Jerry Jones. And again, he's not a Pro Bowler, at least not yet. Finally, "you've read my posts and I haven't drafted better than this guy?" Who have I drafted? Their top three corners either missed the game or were injured during. Haden didn't play. Skrines and Sheldon Brown were injured. I believe Dimitri Patterson was also injured so actually that's their top four cornerbacks. If you watch the game, Miles Austin also had a good game and Witten was virtually ignored as Romo went to his wideouts. Also, Bryant admitted that being booed by the hometown fans hurt him and lit a fire under him. Maybe the light will finally go on for the guy?
