  1. Yeah, the thing about Spiller is that more than any player on this squad, he gives defensive coordinators nightmares and absolutely has to be gameplanned for. That being the case, keep him on the field even when his number isn't gonna be called. Line him up or motion him wide and have him scratch his knuts for all I care. His very presence opens things up for others.
  2. Agreed on Gilmore. I love his competitiveness and "want to." He's always stripping at the ball and he comes hard on run support. I LOVE the kid. He's a keeper, IMO.
  3. As you know, stylistically not but functionally? Absolutely.
  4. Well, Bill from NYC would probably say that we should pray for "Cold, Rain and Snow." Yeah, that was a great line. BTW, the farmer was self-admittedly planting bulbs today. I sure hope you weren't, not that there's anything wrong with that.
  5. I agree with this. He's the professional football coach and we're just fans but how come it was the fans here who were saying: 1) The defense is too vanilla and Wanny has to use more blitzes, stunts, and deception. 2) The Bills need to run the ball more and pass less. If he's the professional, then why were we able to see the problem before he did?
  6. Yes. The weather had some to do with it. But again, remember what Gailey was saying this past week: he put in plays that Fitz wasn't allowed to audible out of because he wanted to run the ball more. The obvious implication is that Fitz was tending to check out of running plays and into passing plays. As I've said a few times in other threads, there's a possibility that the reason Fitz was throwing too much had to do with Fitz and not so much Gailey. I went back to Gailey's statement which came out on an ESPN text and technically he said the snaps would go to Spiller on a 60/40 basis. That said I think again that the weather had to do with the change in strategy and that Gailey wanted to pound the ball with the bigger back. I think that strategy worked well today and I was pleased with Freddy's performance. However I think (repeating myself again) that it would be nice if both backs were on the field at the same time. They are the two best offensive skill players on the team (along with Stevie) and even if they don't get the touch on any particular play, just their presence is enough to create problems for the defense. I remember before the season began that Gailey was saying that he was gonna try getting them both on the field at the same time. Clearly that plan has fallen by the wayside.
  7. I'm not sure what Russell Wilson's ceiling is but I think he has a nice high floor. Once he seasons, he's not gonna lose many games with errors and I think he'll pull out more wins than most QBs under adverse conditions. Elite? Probably not but not out of question either. But a good solid pro who can win? IMO, yes.
  8. Brooks is a rookie getting his first appreciable playing time. He's made some good plays out there. CB is one of the most difficult positions for a young player. I like what I see from him, Steve. Freddy tases that guy with the stiff arm.
  9. Bad body language by Butler. Why don't you just beg for a flag? Including an absolutely horrible pick in the end zone.
  10. Both Freddy and CJ in the game at the same time. I remember early in the season they were talking about doing this. Then they essentially never did it.
  11. And the screen has generally been good for this team but it barely worked the first time and didn't work the next two. Going to the well a bit too often? In the wind and rain no less.
  12. Third and four, I would put Spiller in the game because of his explosiveness.
