  1. I'm not sure what's wrong with Rivers but I've seen him play some terrible football this year.
  2. I don't have a problem with the Sabermetric movement in sports. I think it's interesting as a science and as a social phenomena. There are lots of very educated people trying to become sports executives via statistical analysis. Billy Beane was a former player but he spawned a movement that has attracted lots of MIT and Ivy League grads.
  3. So the Redskins seem like they want to take away Nicks and Cruz and Eli's done a nice job of spreading the ball to others.
  4. Before the Giants picked him up, he was on the streets. He's a rags to riches guy who has been able to keep Herzlich on the bench. I sense that both parties will figure out a way to keep him as a Giant.
  5. I don't know off the top of my head. I'd have to look around. It seems like free agency information at this time of the year is pretty sketchy.
  6. I don't know if Kent was a juicer but I do know he was a smoker. He was kinda lean and country boy strong as I remember him.
  7. I met Haslett a couple of times. He was an a-hole. I respect him as a coach. He doesn't have a lot to work with. Eli really mastered himself there. He really bore down.
  8. Thanks. I read a different story where players insisted on getting administered the stuff. I think it's gonna be the next big issue after the concussion stuff. This crowd has Eli a bit jittery and distracted.
  9. True. That anti-inflammatory is marketed as Toradol I think. Well it's one of those ironic situations again where the league wants to ban it but the players don't want it banned. Some of the players are saying that they can't play without it.
  10. These players are using some "super anti-inflammatory" right now and there's talk that the league's trying to get it banned. Pain is an essential part of the survival feedback loop. When you block out that pain for decades, it's bound to have some long term effects.
  11. Speaking of which, the old Bears, Urlacher, Briggs, and Tillman were all having incredible seasons at advanced ages but all three are now battling through injuries. It's an unforgiving sport. I like RG3 but he takes way too many hits. As much as he's very different in important ways than Vick, he'll still shorten his career if he doesn't learn to play a more mental game.
  12. Looks like Fletcher's having trouble moving to his left. Must be his right ankle?
  13. BTW, Brad Smith looked real nice running the ball. Why don't they use him as a back more? They could hand off to him or send him into the pattern.
  14. Good point. The expectations of decline. Eli underthrew Nicks and then overthrows Cruz.
  15. Fletcher's never missed a game in his NFL career. A 37 year old linebacker. Apparently he's playing on a very sore ankle. Good question. He like Poz, was a whipping boy for many. Like Poz, he played behind weak defensive lines.
  16. He was a game time decision. Apparently this is his 236th consecutive game. Fletcher has never played behind a good defensive line. If he had, he'd be even more respected.
  17. Apparently Randle did not return any kickoffs in college and only returned 4 punts for a total of 5 yards. They might want to reconsider him as a return man. He's gonna get killed out there if he's gonna run upright. Archetypal behavior. John Mackey, Mike Ditka stuff.
  18. Or a lot of times they'll re-spot and then measure. By looks like Rueben Randle is not familiar with the concept of "getting small" on punt returns. That was the most upright running I've ever seen from a punt returner. I wonder if he did this in college?
  19. Old Gerry just explained it. Apparently it's where the ball crossed the plane of the sideline. I didn't know that rule.
  20. I don't know if he made it or not but it definitely looked like a bad spot. One of my dearest buddies is a diehard Giants fan. I'm cheering for Big Blue.
  21. Pretty interesting stuff. Matt Ryan at #3. Makes me contemplate the MNF game and how Brees was so much more dynamic but threw 5 picks where Ryan was lackluster but mistake-free. Another interesting feature, Alex Smith at #7. edit: That game was on Thursday, wasn't it?
