  1. Has Buffalo Barbarian weighed in yet? I think he wanted to completely eliminate kickers from the game.
  2. Yes. Big Ben is elite too, in my book. I have him ahead of Eli right now.
  3. IMO this is not a very convincing argument why the Bills won't draft a QB. So Nix will never draft a rookie QB high as long as Fitz is on the roster?
  4. High-larius!!! It's about time you brought us something interesting. Seriously though, it's ironic to me that the proposal was dreamed up not by Goodell, but by Bucs HC Greg Schiano, the guy who's come under heavy criticism for his strategy of sending an all out blitz during "Victory Formation" snaps. On one hand he's increasing the risk of injury in the game and on the other, he's thinking of ways to make the game safer. Here's a more recent PFT blurb on the subject: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/12/07/schianos-idea-for-kickoffs-traces-to-legrand-injur/ "On Friday, Schiano talked about the idea in a session with the media. “That happened before I was head coach of the Bucs,” Schiano said, via PewterReport.com. “It happened when I was still at Rutgers. I was with Commissioner Goodell and we were talking about it. He expressed his concern about the health of the players in relation to the kickoff play. Certainly with my experience with Eric LeGrand I had similar feelings.” LeGrand, a former Rutgers (and, technically, Buccaneers) player, suffered paralysis as a result of a neck injury during a kickoff return."
  5. I'm hoping for a rookie starter more than I'm predicting it. But I think it's likely to happen. The guys that run this team hear the criticisms. They know where the fan base stands on this one.
  6. I wanted the Bills to blitz more earlier in the season but I also added that I wanted them to stunt more too. It seemed early on with an apparently injured Mario Williams and an ineffective group in general that Wanny would always rush them straight up. It wasn't working. I thought he went to more stunting as the season progressed but legitimately that could be because the D was learning the Wanny defense and hadn't progressed too deeply in the playbook. Personally I thought he had his defense poorly prepared to start the season.
  7. Isn't it "even a broken clock is right once a day?" Regardless, Michael Vick as a football player is a guy who's never conclusively proven that he can play quarterback at a consistently high level. He's had a very up and down career and he appears to be in decline. He's a guy who featured athleticism early in his career and now he's become slower and more injury-prone. No thanks.
  8. To echo your thoughts, for his age and odometer reading, I wouldn't pay him more than the veteran minimum and for that money, he wouldn't play anywhere in the NFL. The guy's a future Hall of Famer and one of the great figures of his era. He's the Ray Nitschke of his generation. He'd have more to gain by retiring and giving his body a rest. The Bills do have to upgrade at linebacker though. I thought Sheppard was pretty bad against Jacksonville. Horrendous on a couple of plays.
  9. It's weird that this conversation is centered around the Miami-New England game. That was a relatively close game so actually any play call would have been justifiable. If the game had been a blowout, then one could ask the questions, "what's the most a-hole-ish play that we could call here?" and "what's the least a-hole-ish play that we could call here?" I would think any running play would rank as close to the least a-hole-ish type of play a play caller could call.
  10. The bolded is where I disagree with you to a certain extent. As poster number 13 points out: And therein lies the difference. If a team is throwing the ball downfield, doing play action, running reverses, flea flickers, etc, then that's simply classless and running up the score. However if they're actually running the football and using the same play often, then there's zero legitimacy to the complaint.
  11. It's in Hammer's sig but in case you missed it: https://sites.google.com/site/hammerslot/
  12. And to add yet again, the Bills are a very good run team and a very poor passing team. So logically what is the better path to victory? Looking forward to the rainy, windy game on Sunday. Hope Chan doesn't tweak out (or however mrags put it).
  13. That's deep. Like Troy Polumalu deep. Good point. I believe schedules are on a strict divisional rotation now and have nothing to do with won-lost record anymore. Count me as one of those who believe that the roster is much better than it was 3 years ago. Miraculously (and I'm not trying to be sarcastic) this is not reflected in the won-lost record.
  14. I would think the stats provided by the OP would be skewed a bit from last week when the Bills ran the ball 25 more times than they passed it.
  15. Holy Crap. I thought this was a joke until I added it to my shopping cart and tried to check out. They wanted my credit card number so apparently this is an honest to goodness product for sale. I'm kinda speechless to be honest.
  16. I don't mind the Bills reaching for a QB as long as they actually think he has the ability to justify the reach. Does that make sense? As far as waiting till 2014 to draft one, I'm kinda tired of waiting and drafting and player evaluation being the inexact science that it is, I don't necessarily buy that there won't be a quarterback worth drafting in 2013. Finally I think Nix has generally done a good job in player acquisition overall but yes, the team's acquisitions of quarterbacks have not been good.
  17. Gotcha. Thanks. We'll see on Sunday. I just rewatched the Jags game and I think there are several very positive developments that are under most people's radar. One thing that could hurt the Bills is that they'll be starting David Snow and Sam Young on the offensive line but the silver lining could be that the Bills will pass less. The Rams have several good pass rushers so it would behoove the Bills to run the ball more. What's the weather forecast for the game? Anyone?
  18. That too. But I think Carrington has plenty of athleticism to play DE on run downs, short yardage, and goal line. Also he would be a more physical, battering ram type of DE like Israel Idonije or Calais Campbell or someone like that.
  19. Too big and slow to play DE? That's inside the box thinking, IMO. There's more than one style of defensive end and Carrington's height, wingspan, and power would serve him well at end. He'd be a terror holding the point/setting the edge. And the Bills could play him at DE on RUN DOWNS. Also if you remember, the Bills attempted to play Spencer AND Carrington at linebacker in 2010 so that obviously speaks to some degree of athleticism.
  20. Well then I'll have to send you that unopened box of Flutie Flakes. I know how much you love him.
  21. The Bills will win. I'm noticing that a lot of people aren't really seeing or maybe they're not buying the improvement of this team. There is some really good football being played by the Bills.
  22. Because Carrington has been dominating lately and needs more playing time. He plays behind Dareus and Williams so giving him 5-6 more snaps a game at the position which he played in college (DE) makes him a better player and makes the Bills a better team.
