  1. Might as well comment on two quarterbacks that the Bills have been criticized for not drafting. Foles converted a nice 3rd down, rolling from the pocket and keeping his eyes downfield. A 26-yard completion to Avant. He just threw a nice pass on 3rd down which was dropped by the receiver and possibly also a defensive pass interference.
  2. Talent is considerably better. Coaching is considerably worse.
  3. I have no idea how fast he was traveling although I seem to remember reading that the car flipped at least once. So it looks like he got fairly buzzed and started driving recklessly, which is idiot behavior.
  4. Two points. That's a pretty high BAL although different people function differently at the same blood alcohol level. Also some people act differently than others when intoxicated. As a person who admittedly had lots of practice driving while intoxicated in my younger days, I would always give myself a lecture before firing the ignition. I would drive more slowly, try to be more alert, and generally be careful. I'd remind myself to not be in a hurry and to not race idiots. Conversely, some people drive more aggressively when they're intoxicated.
  5. No you're not. I totally and completely distrust Clayton's statements. I think there's a much better chance that Nix is given the opportunity to make one more head coaching hire. If I'm betting, I'm putting my money on Nix being here next year and Gailey being gone.
  6. For those who have seen Flynn play, they can attest to the fact that this guy is a physically underwhelming quarterback. As said earlier in the thread, he's some combination of Matt Cassel and Fitz. The one thing Flynn might have over the other two is better accuracy. They all have average at best arms. There's a reason Flynn was drafted in the 7th round.
  7. That's funny. Last year at this time I was the one trying to be patient and give the benefit of the doubt. My patience has been exhausted. If I thought he could turn things around I'd continue to be patient. But I've seen this story many times before. A turnaround is not in the cards. I should clarify. I'm still in Nix's corner but I'm done with Gailey.
  8. I appreciate your post and you make a lot of good points. I agree that appearances (including how a person sounds) are a bit overrated but I also think you can tell a lot from pressers. When I watch Belichick, I see a guy who is very tightly-wound, competitive to the point of not saying anything of value, contemptuous of the media, impatient and intelligent. These are all traits which would normally serve a person well as a head coach. I have no doubt that if Belichick wanted that he would be a fascinating interview. Gailey has never been very articulate and now his poorly-formulated messages are delivered in a resigned and mumbling manner. I believe this is a reflection of a very average guy whose spirit has been broken. I've stated numerous times here that I don't believe it's necessary for a coach to yell and scream. That said, a coach is someone who leads a large group of very powerful men into combat. That coach has to have something which convinces his team to follow him, something with which to inspire confidence and trust. That quality can be any number of different things: an impressive visage and stature, a powerful style of speaking, a clear and articulated intelligence, a solid temperament, an innate charisma, etc. I still haven't figured out what Gailey uses to lead and inspire his men. He doesn't seem to have many tools at his disposal.
  9. I don't really have a preference as to where he plays although the Bills rationale for playing him on the outside seems like a bit of a reach. But I don't really know. Anyways unlike many people, I think he's generally played well. As touched on in another thread on the subject, he was not a starter in college, missed 10 weeks of this season on injured reserve, was hastily thrust into a starting role two weeks ago due to injuries, and has been picked on since becoming active. In that first game one of the posters here (No Justice) tracked the throws and the Jaguars (who had been on fire since Chad Henne took over throwing to Blackmon and Shorts) threw at Brooks 18 times! In spite of that he had 4 pass breakups and the Jags only completed 50% of the passes. Yes Brooks has been burned here and there but he's also made some nice plays and he looks like he competes hard and has really good skills. So in this lost season, I'm encouraged by what I see of him and I'm glad he's getting lots of playing time. I think he's gonna be a good player.
  10. First you made a ridiculous post. Sorry. It was clearly fueled by lots of anger and very little thought. Then you claimed that you were being sarcastic. Then you changed your username to Shitzy Hater. Then you claimed that you weren't being sarcastic. Look, I'm sorry if I offended you. I hope you're capable of adding something to the discussion here. But expressing half-baked ideas and then attacking people is not a great start. There are already enough posters here who come here to vent and bring nothing else to the table but anger and lousy takes.
  11. It sounds to me like you didn't see either of the plays in question. Both balls were ridiculously catchable. I would expect a high school offensive guard to make those catches.
  12. Most likely though he'd be making that comment on a grey, overcast day.
  13. I'm thinking Niners-Pats in the Super Bowl and as luck would have it, I believe those two play each other this week. As far as who represents the NFC, no doubt Eli is way above Kaepernick but I actually think the Niners are superior in every other facet and that they'll likely have home field in a hypothetical NFC Championship Game against the Giants.
  14. Let me put it this way: If I had dropped two EASY interceptions which would have preserved victory in two separate games, I would have apologized profusely to the team. Twice. I think most accountable people would. I don't know why you would say "Wilson doesn't need to apologize to anyone." Would you apologize if you let victory slip through your fingers? Apparently not. As for as your second point, What does the Bills game against the Rams have to do with my point about the Bills defense outperforming Houston's in their respective games against New England? I'm not understanding your point.
  15. Thanks. I guess there are a few questions to contemplate then: 1) Is Gordon worth a 2nd rounder (your original point)? 2) Would Bills fans at this moment, prefer Gordon to having their 2nd rounder in 2013? 3) Would Bills fans prefer Gordon to whomever the Bills end up drafting in 2013 (in hindsight after the draft)? I guess it's still early on but Gordon apparently looks like a player.
  16. To your first paragraph, I too believe the Bills have refused to "reach" for a quarterback since Nix took over and ended up missing those players as a result of hoping that they'd slide down to their pick. As far as maneuvering in the draft, yes either trade down or trade back up into the first round.
  17. However doesn't this mean that the Bills would have missed out on Cordy Glenn? If so, I'm glad we didn't burn a 2nd rounder on Gordon.
  18. In New England's last six games, only the Bills and Dolphins (who have an excellent defense) have held the Cheatriots*** to fewer than 37 points. And the officials gave New England first and goal to go from the one yard line three times against the Bills. In truth the Bills D played pretty well in the second New England game, certainly WAY BETTER than Houston's much-balleyhooed defense. The Bills only allowed 347 yards to New England. The last bad game the Bills D played was in week 7 against Tennessee. It's too bad that George Wilson has dropped two game ending (winning) interceptions or the Bills defense would look a lot better. I hope he's apologized to the team for costing them two games this season.
  19. Nor do I. I personally believe that there's something not being said, simmering beyond public view. And as I said, people generally respect the authority of a football coach and I think very few fans here would have a problem if Gailey was honest about the problem he has with CJ. I'm speculating of course but I think it has to do with Gailey's view of CJ's mental toughness and/or his pass blocking. And again I think Gailey is mishandling CJ in every way possible and I'm not simply speaking about playing time.
  20. And your point has been addressed three times now, in posts #3, #22, and #23. If you care to discuss it, then discuss it.
  21. Oh. Okay. I didn't realize that by saying no to Saban that I was voting to retain Gailey. Thanks for the clarification.
