  1. I see the talkative Missus signed on to her hubby's (Mr. Man of Few Words) account. Yes. People have to understand what Wood is saying and that it comes from a player's perspective. There is zero home field advantage and in fact, the game being at 4 pm allowed the Seahawks to kickoff at the exact same time that they do for their home games. And to your second point, the Bills in Toronto series is a lose, lose, lose for everyone except Ralph Wilson. This is unless you believe that the extra money is helping keep the team in Buffalo. But even if you believe the added revenue helps Buffalo remain a viable market, you have to wonder how much more revenue the Toronto game generates compared to if the Bills were simply a well-run team which played all its games in Orchard Park. Again, the Bills in Toronto series benefits one person, Ralph Wilson. If the Bills spent as much energy trying to be a good football team as they do "regionalizing" (a team which already has a large percentage of Canadian season ticket holders), there would be no reason to prostitute 1/8th of their home schedule each year. Several people here have said that the Toronto game would be more successful if the Bills were a better team. That ignores the possibility that if the Bills were a better team, the Toronto game would be unnecessary.
  2. Very good post. I think if a 8-10 year lease were done in the context of Wilson's age and the condition of the stadium, that there would be many contingencies. Like you, I could see a deal binding the club to the area rather than the stadium.
  3. The best thing about if Vick went to the Jets is that it might take them out of the running for drafting a quarterback in the first round. Well the Jets don't have any balls yet as this is all conjecture. On the other the Jets traded their first and second round picks and three players to move up to take Sanchez. So that was somewhat ballsy. I thought accuracy was a good thing?
  4. Problem is, Tebow looks like a slow-twitch athlete. The Jets experimented with sending him out into the pattern on a couple of plays and he doesn't look like he can get separation. All of his movements are slow and deliberate and seem to lack suddenness or explosiveness.
  5. And Mark Sanchez is "two up" on Fitz in playoff appearances. Tebow's playoff appearance means virtually nothing.
  6. Actually the moral of the story is that people should at least attempt to read through a topic before posting in it. Especially when it's a really short one. As in the larger world around us, too many people talking and not enough people listening.
  7. Josh Brent no longer allowed on Cowboys sideline. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/12/18/josh-brent-no-longer-allowed-on-cowboys-sideline/ Rewinding back to our speculation upthread, apparently Brent was seen smiling with teammates.
  8. Yeah I'd like to get in on that one too. The counter-argument of course is that you can't build a winning team with a losing coach. And that's certainly the perception of Gailey around here.
  9. ESPN's AFC East blogger reported a few weeks ago that the Bills had begun preliminary discussion with Byrd so there's a possibility that they're multi-tasking on contracts. The way you feel about playing in the NFL isn't necessarily how the players themselves view it. For one thing it's human nature to take what you have for granted and even beyond that, B word about it from time to time. The trooth of the matter is that there is nothing negative about the Urbik signing.
  10. Good signing. Boy I needed to hear some good news regarding the Bills.
  11. That would be Carl Mauch. He was fun to watch. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/dc-sports-bog/post/ross-tucker-tells-hilarious-steve-spurrier-stories/2011/07/22/gIQAmjhXTI_blog.html “If you guys ever could, you should go back and get a sideline copy of Patrick Ramsey’s first start against the Saints. There were no hot reads or no sight adjusts. If a blitz came, his whole philosophy was to change the play at the line of scrimmage. Well, in the NFL, if it looks like the linebacker from the right’s coming, he’s not the guy coming, it’s the other guy. It’s all disguised. He would literally be on the sideline screaming out to Patrick to change the play, so Patrick would change the play, then the defense would shift, and Spurrier would be like no no no no, and there’d either be a timeout or a delay of game. Dude, it was straight high school. It was honestly hilarious. It was absolutely brutal.”
  12. The '04 Pontiacs were still made from wood? THAT is a lot of car for the money. The Hyundais and Kias do offer 10 years/100K miles which is extraordinary. Also, most of their vehicles are 5 star safety rated. If I was going for a similar car I'd go with the Kia Optima. IMO the styling is superior to the Sonatas (which look nice too). I drive a '03 Honda Element. I paid cash for it in '05 so no payments for going on 7 years. I've always been a car enthusiast and know all the models and what's going on in the industry but I'd rather not spend too much on stuff that depreciates. Besides zero payments, the Honda is ridiculously maintenance-free and dependable. It has 100,000 miles and runs like it's brand new. The wife's Audi TT is very expensive to keep on the road and like every Audi I or anyone in my family ever owned, it's prone to expensive repairs. Probably gonna trade the Audi in on a Genesis Coupe this year. The 3.8 liter is 345 horsepower has an 8-speed auto although we'll probably settle for the R-spec with its 270 horse 2.0 turbo 4. Mostly I drive my work van which is a '96 Ford E-150 with 232,000 miles on it. My employer does maintenance on it every 3000 miles and it's mechanically excellent. I've installed a rear backup camera, CD player with a auxiliary port for my iPod, and a DC to AC power inverter for my battery tools. It's a great vehicle.
  13. It was a low snap but it's still the QB's responsibility to make sure of the snap. Sanchez didn't. In contrast, on the play in which Locker ran for the TD, the snap was high and right when Locker was planning on running to his left. He cleanly fielded the errant snap with his right hand and ran for the TD.
  14. Also they're apparently in preliminary talks with Byrd, as previously reported.
  15. Courtesy of Fixxxer in another thread, Kraig Urbik and the Bills are close to an agreement: http://espn.go.com/b...aring-extension and more recently: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8757790/source-kraig-urbik-buffalo-bills-agree-4-year-15m-deal
  16. And leave millions of dollars on the table? I also think Chan is a good man but I don't see how anyone could resign and turn his back on all that money. Now I could see possibly a negotiated buyout. That I could see.
