  1. I actually recently made the argument that Tim Tebow's coaches have determined that he's not a starting caliber quarterback. That said, there is a difference between a practice player and a game player. It would be really weird for T Jax to never play a snap for the Bills after they traded for him. What do you expect. He had to suit up for the game and participate in pregame warmups. Then he had to undress after being declared inactive. That's a lot of work. This really doesn't explain why Jackson wouldn't have leapfrogged Thigpen as the 2nd stringer. Hmmm. I wonder if the decision to cut Young was non-football related. I was one of his first accusers as far as stubborness went. Maybe we've got this all wrong but he certainly seems like a stubborn person. Either that or something else.
  2. I've sadly become a big critic of Chan Gailey but I don't necessarily believe that he'd ruin the most talented quarterback that he'd ever have the opportunity to coach.
  3. To the first bolded I can't speak to the sentiment in Baltimore but I know that I have a very high regard for John Harbaugh and I think he's trying to get a final read on Flacco before the draft and Flacco's contract are resolved. To your second bolded, you speak of Chan getting the most out of Fitz but that possibly ignores that he lobbied for Fitz and didn't put more pressure on Nix to get a quarterback of the future. Also as far as Fitz "doing worse with a more conventional offense" I think the Bills would be better off is they had a very different offense than the one currently installed. Also as far as limiting exposure to the O-line, that's part of the problem. Before injuries our O-line was a major asset. He should feature the O-line prominently. In the run game. To actually defend the OP post for a moment, when you have a good quarterback, more things go in favor of you and as a head coach you end up making more good decisions because of the increased good situations you find yourself in. But I think he'd still be a mediocre head coach. Ouch. And his record against the AFC East is horrible. He routinely loses games to his most important competitors. I've heard that Tech is a much better academic school than Georgia. But still, 0-6? Good explanation but I'm not sure I buy it. I think you're in error thinking that Spiller could handle AP's workload. Far from it IMO. How often should we expect broken clocks to be right over the course of a season? Because Jauron was right more often than Gailey in that criteria. Joe Gibbs was already mentioned. Bud Grant was another great football coach IMO. Chuck Knox was also a great football coach, IMO. I also think that George Allen was a great football coach. None of them had a great quarterback but all were great coaches in my book.
  4. That's it? Don't you at least want Tanneyhill to kick Wanny in the nads? The Bills and the points? Gotcha! Also this is bulletin board material but the Bills got rid of the old bulletin boards and haven't replaced them yet. Dude, I've never heard that one. Good stuff. Have some saltines too!
  5. The final chapter has not been written on the careers of Troup or Williams. That said, it's hard to argue with this logic.
  6. I think technically it's "goddamned." I could be wrong. But I agree with you about the redneck part.
  7. Yes. And he and Bills QB Tyler Thigpen were road roommates and their families vacation together in the offseason.
  8. Not bad. I'll try one. "He's not worth the money the Bills are paying him." Conversely (I always use that word improperly), Stevie's not the jump ball receiver that Cris Carter was. That was a HUGE part of Carter's game. The deep out is definitely missing from the Bills offense and I think that with Stevie's ability to break off routes so suddenly that he would be deadly on that play, even though teams don't necessarily respect his deep speed.
  9. I think Promo nails it: Also: Good points. However as much as I like Kirk Morrison as a person and player, it's a bit mystifying that they would bring him back, isn't it? He plays a different position and he demonstrated all he has to demonstrate. The coaches refused to activate him before so the whole thing is kind of odd. Anyways this move probably means a lot more playing time for Aaron Williams as he tries to resurrect his flagging career. Actually unlike the pre-Gailey era, the Bills have two S & C coaches, both of them highly regarded before coming to Buffalo. I do amuse myself but are you talking to me? Moments after re-signing Morrison, the Bills placed him on the non-football related injury list.
  10. And he has just as many devotees who love and admire him. Also when I say media darling I meant someone who the media pays close and constant attention to. Maybe a bad choice of words but point being he's a very public figure. It's a big part of the reason he ended up on the Jets.
  11. You have to admit, that anecdote about Wanny's motivational speech is pretty effin' funny! Your chicken el diablo line is pretty good too. Also, are you saying any kind of monkey could call plays better than Gailey or a particular type of monkey? Yes, he who makes an assumption makes an ass out of you and ump, oh wait. I have a hard time keeping up. Sorry. Winner winner chicken dinner!!! I suggest the Chicken El Diablo.
  12. Yeah that reminds me of when Matt Moore went 4-1 down the stretch for Carolina in 2009. He threw 8 TDs to 1 int. Tebow and Moore are not the only non-elite QBs who've strung together victories in the NFL. For instance in 2008, Shaun Hill took over the starting job in San Francisco at midseason and went 5-3 for Mike Singletary's team. That same team was 2-6 in the first half of the 2008 season. Tebow's little string of victories means little in the context of his consistently lousy subsequent performances. On top of that is Tebow's inability to convince his last two NFL coaches that he is a starting quality quarterback. Considering what a popular guy and media darling Tebow is, I'm positive that if he merits another chance to start in the NFL, that he will. If his NFL career ends up amounting to nothing but hype I'll continue to believe that he's not good enough. If Tebow proves me wrong, I'll be the first to 'fess up.
  13. As I preach here all the time, EVERY situation is different. You evaluate players and the market on a case-by-case basis. Apparently lots of people go through life using simplified reasoning. I wonder why that is?
  14. I'm not sure about that but I think if we used him more, his YPC would definitely be worse. And I'd be good with that. He hasn't touched the ball nearly enough this year.
  15. Totally awesome! Obviously a great job of hosting. No wonder Bills tailgates are legendary.
  16. As trooth suggests, Sanchez will be cut before he's traded because his contract is untradeable.
  17. You're gonna self-ignore? That's never been done before. You're a visionary.
  18. So we should have given Greg(g) Williams and Dick Jauron one additional season? Well, Harbaugh had a 15 year career as an NFL quarterback, was a 4-year letterman at Michigan, was All-American, helped his father Jack Harbaugh (highly successful head coach at Western Kentucky and Western Carolina) during the offseasons, turned around the University of San Diego program in one season taking them from a 1-win season to National Champions, and turned around the Stanford program in one season, routinely beating USC including the biggest upset in NCAA history. Jim's brother John preceded him as one of the best head coaches in the NFL. So while one can say that nothing can be predicted with total certainty but there was no doubt in MANY people's minds that Jim Harbaugh was gonna be a great head coach in the NFL. Spurrier had a great college career as a QB, had really no NFL career to speak of, and never coached in the NFL at any level. There were plenty of people who didn't think Spurrier was gonna be a great coach. Okily dokily. Whoa Nellie! You're the guy who's a longtime season ticket holder stating that you'll always buy tickets. You (quite possibly more than Ham Sandw(_)ich) is subsidizing the Bills mediocrity. Which whole new crew are you talking about? How do you reconcile that with your statement "I stand by my Bills and stand by whatever decision they make?"
  19. The Demaryius Thomas play? Look. I'll continue to expect Tebow to fail as an NFL quarterback and you can continue to expect him to succeed. Time will tell which of us is right.
  20. And for people who miss the irony, Carrier is one of the world's largest manufacturers of HVAC equipment. If they're gonna own the naming rights as they have for decades, maybe they ought to install AC just out of principle?
  21. This already happens. As long as the Bills get $10 million per game, chances are they wouldn't care. To the point, why bring back a coach which the players have lost faith in and given up on? You speak as if you know what's going on in the locker room. However, seeing as none of us do there's no need to even bring that up, much less imply that you know better than most of the well-informed posters on this board. The math is simple. As I've been trying to get through to H.S. in other threads, continuity is not important when it involves a coach who has won less than 1 in every 3 games. The Senator has spoken. No one is more informed OR partisan. So are you finally ready to put your money where your mouth is? Because you weren't yesterday. Here's a question for you. How old are you and how long have you followed this team? The available evidence suggests overwhelmingly that coaches who suck in their first three years don't suddenly get better in their fourth year. Continuity my ass.
