  1. MANY rumors swirling and many of them contradicting. For instance there's a report out there now that Pioli might be safe. Really the biggest takeaways is that after last year's relatively calm offseason with regard to the coaching/GM carousel that this year is guaranteed to be a mad frenzy. As many as 10 head coaches and 7 GMs are on the hot seat. This means that competition to fill these positions as well as assistant coaching positions will be very fierce. With the assumed firing of at least Gailey, the Bills will step into a very competitive market for a new coaching staff.
  2. One of the more telling lines from today's Buffalo News and one which some posters pointed out at the time to be a predictor of the Bills outlook: "Edwards was one of Gailey's many assistants out of their depth. Gailey filled out his coaching staff with acquaintances from when he coached at Georgia Tech and was Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator. Of the seven position coaches and three coordinators on Gailey's original Bills staff, seven had two or fewer years of NFL experience in their given roles. Four had zero seasons of NFL experience in those roles."
  3. In this morning's Buffalo News, Tim Graham, Mark Gaughan, and Jerry Sullivan are running with 4 articles (2 by Gaughan) that amount to a prediction and an advocacy that the Bills will clean house. According to one Gaughan source outside the Bills, a full housecleaning is expected and the tone of the articles is that the firings are inevitable. http://buffalonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20121230/SPORTS/121239936/two-bills-drive-1003 http://buffalonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20121230/SPORTS/121239937/two-bills-drive-1003'>http://buffalonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20121230/SPORTS/121239937/two-bills-drive-1003 http://buffalonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20121230/SPORTS/121239937/two-bills-drive-1003 http://buffalonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20121230/SPORTS/121239941/two-bills-drive Nothing earth-shattering and many of the same discussions we've had here but interesting to read nonetheless.
  4. That's what she said. Wait, that doesn't really make any sense. Never mind. That's not how that's spelled. Don't worry. Mrags will get us the proper spelling. He's a French wiz.
  5. The Meyer Lemon has been in North America since about 1908. So you guys are only about 100 years or so behind. At this point you'll discover rapini in about 6 or 7 decades from now.
  6. Well as I've always pointed out about Trestman, he's been a bit of a vagabond, not unlike Lou Saban. However he's spent the last 5 years in Montreal in which time he's won two Grey Cup Championships and two Coach of the Year awards so he seems to have settled down a bit. When Trestman's name last came up about two months ago, someone here mentioned that he told the Bills during their Gailey hiring cycle that he was not interested in the job. I've championed him several times and would be happy to see him get a chance here. His credentials and experience are pretty outstanding. Referencing another thread here, when Gruden coached the 2002 Raiders, Trestman was the OC, and Harbaugh was the QB Coach. Gannon of course had an MVP season that year.
  7. Thanks Mellaman. Can you provide a link as per the rules of useage? Also it might have saved you a lot of work to simply provide the link. But thanks regardless. Thanks Farmer. This is the link I keep in my favorites. Like you say, the guy does a great job. As for the dead money, correct me if I'm wrong but all of that dead money stays on the books for one year (accelerates) and then clears up cap space the next year? If so, that's a lot of cap space freeing up.
  8. We should lay off the French. mrags is an expert speaker and he'll likely run circles around us.
  9. FWIW, Jim Harbaugh was the QB coach for Gruden/Gannon for those two years. I've been a major critic of Gruden but in fairness, has a team been as badly jobbed as his team was when the officials invoked the "Tuck Rule" when the Raiders were beating New England in the 4th quarter of that snowy game in Foxboro? So I gotta give props to Gruden for taking teams far into the playoffs.
  10. Fumbles the center exchange. He was starting to pivot to hand off. 'Cuse wasn't even in a short yardage defense. That should have been checked into a QB sneak. Horrible. However that holding call which brought that screen pass back was a horrible call by the official.
  11. WRT Barkley, I guess he won't play in his team's bowl game because his shoulder is shot. That might explain his underwhelming season and the recent criticisms of scouts that his throws lack zip. Never seen him play so I'm simply putting that out there for consumption.
  12. Here would be a real good assignment for local journalists: Find out exactly who was at the Holiday Party. Not that it would necessarily reveal anything but it would be interesting to know that.
  13. You don't say? He's feeling better. In a warped and twisted way it would be hilarious. Or like the Snoop Dog character in Starsky and Hutch, make people kiss the handle. I laughed. Sorry everyone.
  14. She did literally. He did figuratively. If he'd done it literally, we wouldn't be having this little discussion!
  15. Unless the editors at Playboy "helped" her write her bio. I suppose that's possible too. She was definitely hot though.
  16. I think successful people tend to make decisions based on weighing numerous factors. In other words, all the hypothetical reasons for Ralph's visit could be true to varying degrees. His visit doesn't have to be based on one reason.
  17. The San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks disagree with you. There is no "one way" to do anything in this world.
  18. Hey Exiled, I must be in one of those moods where I'm not localizing the discussion to the discussion. As far as these "misfortunes" go (broken windows, stolen sneakers, etc) I recall when a wealthy daughter of a former Buffalo pro sports team walked into the liquor store I use to work at and said "some guy just went fish-tailing down Elmwood and hit about five cars and took off. I feel SO SORRY FOR THOSE PEOPLE." My thought at the time was "so sorry?" Their car got hit. No one was injured. They have insurance. You're rich." How about people with real misfortunes?
  19. On one hand, alcohol does have caloric value and in small doses is a central nervous system stimulant. On the other hand it's a vaso-dilator which will actually make an animal lose body temp. But if they're freezing and starving probably a bit with food would be helpful. In this particular case, yes. There are animal rights organizations that do good work however and the abuse of pachyderms is fairly widespread (why anyone would abuse an animal that is intelligent and can crush you is beyond me btw). As you know not all animal rights groups or cases ought to be lumped as one. Nor all pro-gun groups or what have you. Lots of people are against abortion but don't condone the assassination of physicians who perform them for example. Let's not start painting all similar groups with the same brush.
  20. I remember reading someone who wrote "someday archeologists and anthropologist will dig up our civilization and think that Ronald McDonald was our God." I believe the person who wrote that was a Playboy Playmate of the Month.
