  1. So tell me again which successful NFL head coach never previously coached in the NFL? I'm very wary and skeptical of guys like Chip Kelly and Jim Tressel. I've seen tons of college head coaches who actually had NFL experience fail miserably. Feel free to disagree. I won't debate because this is conjecture on both our parts. I'm more than happy to see how Kelly does. But I wouldn't hire him.
  2. Again (like with Chip Kelly), why hire Tressel who has never coached in the NFL at any level? I personally would never hire a guy as head coach who has never even coached an NFL player as a position coach.
  3. Yeah, bad decision and bad vision. Based on the two interceptions today, it seems that accuracy isn't so much the issue as much as decision making is.
  4. I heard the same story. After the Adrian Wilson hit, Trent was concussed again, this time in practice, but it was the week after the Chargers game where he played so well. He appeared on the injury report but not with a concussion. According to this story (if I remember it correctly) the Bills didn't disclose the practice concussion and Trent didn't miss any games. He was subsequently concussed a third time in the game against the Jets. So according to this story from an insider, he suffered 3 concussions within one months time.
  5. Charles Tillman is the London Fletcher of cornerbacks except while London is viewed by some as undersized (actually he's short but not undersized), Tillman is a player before his time: the big physical cornerback that all teams now covet. Tillman is the prototype for guys like Browner and Sherman in Seattle. For well over a decade he's been not only one of the best cover men in the NFL but probably the premier run support cornerback. Just like Fletcher, Tillman's been overlooked in Pro Bowl voting for nearly his entire career except for the last two seasons. There's no way Gilmore is as good as Tillman is. Not yet. No doubt. Not close.
  6. You can find good NFL coaches who also happen to be good people. No need to stoop to Haslett.
  7. Yes I've cited this numerous times. I defy any of the pro-Chip Kelly people to name me one single person who never coached in the NFL before becoming a successful NFL head coach.
  8. The wide-nine came and went with Reid's failed DC. It was a blip on the screen of his career.
  9. No thanks for me. He has zero track record as a personnel guy. It would be the Peter Principle again just like when Shanahan and Holmgren proved that they couldn't do the GM job on top of coaching. As far as I can tell, there are only about two people in the world who can be both head coach and general manager. And I'm lukewarm about Gruden as a coach so I definitely don't want him as the GM as well.
  10. I've met him a few times. He's a Class A jerk off. He was also a scab player who crossed the picket line. Haslett would be a bottom of the barrel hire IMO. There are much better candidates out there as far as I'm concerned.
  11. I saw that but I don't know. Some college players wear braces for preventative reasons.
  12. Another dropped pass, this time in the end zone. I've never seen him play before but these are my immediate impressions: He has a nice quick drop back. His body is a bit thicker than what I had been led to believe. He can throw the ball.
  13. There was a small but vocal faction of London Fletcher critics. The sort of person he is (this guy could be the NFL Man of the Year every year) and the sort of player he is, they should have tried to keep him. But as No Saint points out, he was at an age where performance often declines. However it was a mistake by the organization to let him walk. There's no question that he's head and shoulders above any linebacker on the Bills right now. And he's been playing with a sprained ankle.
  14. I believe a lot of you are undervaluing Lovie Smith. The guy is an excellent coach and leader who generally has his teams over-achieving IMO. They consistently play hard. The guy took a team to the Super Bowl with Rex Grossman as the QB for God's sake.
  15. Says the person who was driving OJ Simpson around in the Bronco.
  16. It is a sad day. I understand fans who are satisfied and relieved by this move. I don't really relate to the elation though.
  17. I like Lovie with the right offensive coordinator. I like the idea someone had of he being the head coach and Norv Turner as the OC. Like who for instance? Belichick is the only guy I know that has coordinated both sides of the ball.
  18. The intent of this thread was for fond farewells to the outgoing head coach, a good man. Those who have nothing nice to say probably should not post in this thread. It's that easy.
  19. There was some ruffling of the curtain behind the podium but that might have been the HVAC system.
  20. His comment about rooting for the team should be taken as it was intended. As a heartfelt and positive statement towards the Bills and Bills fans.
  21. Maybe they could just leave a voice mail. Perhaps a couple rounds of phone tag. Submit the phone records to the league office, voila!
  22. Watching the video of Chan at the post game presser, he seemed almost happy and relieved. He seemed at peace as if he knew his fate but he wanted to savor the final victory. It was a completely different man then we saw int the previous 3 weeks post game pressers. It was like a great weight had been lifted off him. He repeated his line that he wanted the team to win for the fans and for themselves. A humble, self-effacing man who wasn't up to the job. Wishing Chan nothing but the best.
