Hmmm. I thought the opposite.
That Hackett had to call the play, send it upstairs, and then into EJ.
If Hackett can call the play from the sidelines, there's no reason for calls getting in late during today's game.
Apparently I'm missing something.
Paraphrasing Marrone on Wednesday on his opinion about all the opponents coming off byes:
Do you think it's not fair?
"Yeah I think it's not fair."
Why?
"Because the biggest advantage for a football team during the season is rest."
Marrone wasn't complaining.
He was asked about the topic and he answered the questions.
I'm sitting here laughing my ass off at the stupidity of judging a rookie QB who:
1) Played in only 2 preaseason games
2) Then played in 5 regular season games
3) Then missed 4 regular season games
4) Then returned to play against Pittsburgh and LeBeau in Pittsburgh.
I'm really surprised at how many of you are out of touch with reality.
I had zero knowledge of the chronology of events.
I simply read a blurb and accurately paraphrased it to make the point that the Incognito story was still alive and unwell.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/11/09/mike-martz-rams-drafted-richie-incognito-because-hes-nasty/
The more important point of the Martz comment is that belligerence and reckless aggression are assets in the NFL as long as the player in question is not hurting the team more than he's helping them.
This thread is from last year and is probably still relevant:

Here we go:

Smith was waived on November 8th.
Stevie has been nagged by injuries all season long (as per usual).
Woods was injured in the Kansas City game on November 3rd.
So I don't think it had anything to do with bad luck (timing).
Marrone cut him to teach him a lesson? Isn't it more likely that Rogers simply didn't deserve a spot on the roster?
What do you make of the fact that despite being on the Colts practice squad nearly all season long, Rogers is inactive for the Colts tonight in spite of them having several injuries at that position?
I'm thinking Rogers lacks certain things that would enable an NFL coaching staff to trust him in a game.
Here's the strange thing:
Brad Smith was brought in by the previous regime who never learned how to fully use him.
Then the new regime brought him to camp and subsequently put him on ice. Bringing him to camp means that they felt that he was a possible fit on this roster.
However they finally released him at a time when their top two receivers are injured.
Among several questions in my mind are these ones:
Where has Smith been all these weeks? Was he with the team? Was he attending WR meetings? Why did they decide to jettison him instead of working him into the mix?
The thing about the Chad Rinehart joke is that for all the time he was a Bill, very few people here could ever spell his name right.
That in spite of the fact that of the several possible spelllings of his last name (Rheinhardt for instance) Rinehart has the simplest spelling possible for that surname.
Though it couldn't be any simpler people would always misspell his name.
And now that he's gone of course, everyone can spell his name.
It's as much an indictment of the Bills coaching.
On a FG attempt with less than 5 yards to go, you do not jump offsides.
Cardinal rule.
That's on Crossman.
