  1. You oughta read the thread before positing a question that has been asked and answered a few times now. Going back one page should do.
  2. http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/154434-the-fact-that-gailey-left-on-good-terms-is-very-positive/ http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/154419-anybody-pulling-for-chan/ My guess is 8.
  3. Corner blitz said "never doubt a trusted source." He didn't say Quentin Groves was a trusted source.
  4. The answer is directly below. To borrow an electrical circuit analogy, why do things in series when you can do them in parallel? Great post. ^^^^^^ At $7.5 million due on April 1st, there's a scenario where he could get cut and signed as a free agent or I suppose if the Bills wanted exclusive dibs on him, they could trade for him. I'm thinking free agency myself. The Bills will have a new coach in place months before they have to make a decision on Alex Smith.
  5. The Seattle Seahawks. Matt Flynn: 3 years, $19.5 million, $10 guaranteed Russell Wilson: 3rd round draft pick after the Flynn signing As I've already said, if Smith is good with the knowledge that he'd be eventually replaced by a drafted quarterback of the future, this would be a great move for the Bills.
  6. I don't totally agree with what I believe the Bills strategy is. It could certainly be argued that if the plan is for an immediate behind the scenes succession to Whaley, that the team should be forthcoming about it. As has been suggested by myself and others, the public emasculation of Buddy Nix (a trusted and valued soldier) would not shine well on the organization. Perhaps they are just trying to find a way to do this gracefully. Just my thoughts. From a pragmatic standpoint, I'm not sure it matters anyways as long as the new hires know the score.
  7. Perhaps. Possibly he would just go for the money. As Dave pointed out, no one knew if the Niners were gonna pick he or Aaron Rodgers. To BHR, I think the Alex Smith scenario involves a free agent signing, not a trade.
  8. True. And Caldwell is a moot point anyways. The herd has moved on.
  9. By far. The next question is how much weight to give those performances in the context of an entire college career. Certainly Cordy Glenn finished his career very strongly, acquitting himself in big games at the end of his Georgia career.
  10. If he was interviewing GoBillsinDallas, the interview would have been a series of questions interspersed with links.
  11. And in fact, is Caldwell any better of an heir-apparent than Doug Whaley?
  12. Most of the people here who are saying "hire Lovie" are doing so with the caveat that he bring with himself a proven OC.
  13. Does Alex Smith view himself as ONLY a legit, long term starting QB? Would a big contract override his ego?
  14. I wondered this also. No offense but saying so isn't good enough. And be nice. Good stuff. The most salient question is this: If he were cut and became a free agent, would he want to sign with a team where he is viewed (again) as a temporary starter to keep the seat warm for a highly-drafted quarterback of the future?
  15. I think their treatment of Nix is also a plus. An organization should always exude the image of treating their people well in any circumstances.
  16. Where did you get the number 5 from? There are 7 openings, just like the article said.
  17. There are many people in the Bay Area who believe that Hue Jackson did a great job in Oakland under very adverse circumstances. Believe it or not, a lot of leaks are intentional and strategic. Teams are interested in getting feedback from potential decisions and this is one of the ways they do this. Or as an old boss of mine used to say, "Let's run it up the flagpole and see if anyone salutes." LOL. Yes that has been suggested. Setting your sarcasm aside, from what I've been reading here and elsewhere, more people believe that Lovie's teams have overachieved than underachieved.
  18. I guess you're choosing to take Brandon's words at face value, ignoring the evidence so far. I realize also that your post is from almost 3 hours ago so you might now view this differently. Funny. It seems like you were doing as much lambasting as anyone. Regardless, why are the former Pittsburgh guys being interviewed? Why is Whisenhunt (attributed quotes via tweets) talking about working with Brandon and Whaley, but not Nix? So now that your questions have been answered upthread, do the explanations hold any water for you? There was a thread merge here I think but upthread are some thoughts on your question.
  19. I see that you didn't include "ability to organize community trash pick-up day" as one of your choices.
  20. Great point. Some people aren't taking into consideration the logistics of the hiring window. There are some coaches preparing for Bowl games, some involved in the NFL playoffs. You don't simply interview the guys on the top of your list first. That's not always possible. Wow Dork. Take it easy.
