  1. Well Shaw did recently sign that big extension. And he publicly talked about being at Stanford long enough to see his children graduate. From Stanford. He's 40 years old and has 3 children so I sense he's gonna be with the Cardinal for another few years. But you never know.
  2. Whiz quizz? Chan Plan? Hey this is fun! The Mularkey malarky… the Gregg Egg… The Dick dick…
  3. I always held that against him until I heard an interview with him last season. It was one of the most impressive interviews I've ever heard from a professional athlete. And yes, I do believe that people can redeem themselves.
  4. Also he married a girl who was an All-American soccer player and also has a Harvard degree. As for Alex Smith I would only say that IF you believe that bringing Fitz back at a lower cost would run the risk of being divisive to the team, then you have to find someone who is more or less equivalent to play a similar role: veteran insurance/mentor for young developmental QB.
  5. So the OP did raise an interesting point, IMO. That "hopefully" was a really bizarre choice of words until you realize where he was going with that sentence.
  6. A. “Oh, easy. For a number of reasons. I like the organizational structure and then I love the fan base. For me, it’s been an amazing fan acceptance of me, whether at the game or on the street. That plays a lot, where the community appreciates what you do.” Q. If they bring someone else in for the job, and you don’t get another head coaching job, can you be content being the defensive coordinator? A. “I’ve never thought that way. I don’t think that way. I’ve never posed the question to myself.” Q. I just did. A. “Yea, you did. What’s your answer? I don’t think that way. Those things come around the corner and I’m always ‘the glass is overflowing-full.’ I’m excited about the opportunity here and the fantastic interview I had with Cleveland last night and going to try to knock Buffalo’s socks off.” That's a key question for sure. Except Greg(g) hired Mike Sheppard and Jerry Gray. Shouldn't we see who he has in mind for coordinators before we pull out this comment? Stylistically they couldn't be more different.
  7. I'm glad K-9 asked the question and I'm glad you answered it. Good answer!
  8. Thanks. I didn't read the link. Like I said, there's a few layers of complexity to this situation. I don't think that it's quite as easy to read as some do.
  9. Personally speaking, at this point it's almost necessary. Amen.
  10. You do realize that the funny bone is in the elbow? As someone already said, McDaniels has stated he's staying in NE for at least one more year. It might have been a condition placed by Belichick on his return from exile. So this is an abstract discussion at best. To the OP, I'm skeptical that Crennel and Weiss would want to work for that high-strung little prick.
  11. Actually they, along with Cold, Hard, Football Facts, and Pro Football Focus have been discussed here numerous times.
  12. Good point and this hasn't been talked about too much here. Three years seems to be the number that a lot of people use when it comes to regime changes. Brandon and the organization know that the fanbase is very impatient. They've publicly stated that the team is more talented than it was when Nix/Gailey took over. Most of us fans believe the talent level has been upgraded as well. Is it possible that this team is poised for a quick turnaround?
  13. This seems to be the authoritative tome on Chip Kelly: http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/8631595/the-success-chip-kelly-oregon-ducks-offense-more-familiar-seems
  14. I can see where this discussion is headed. You guys are gonna start communicating in algebraic equations, aren't you?
  15. Yes, I cited stopthepain's response to you. I was linking your comments for the sake of the discussion. But I was admonishing Code Monkey, not you. We shall see. There's actually a few layers to this one.
  16. Keep in mind that it's the club's option so he might not have a say. Also, Alex signed his extension after the failed play for Manning and he knew Kaepernick was drafted in the high 2nd round for a reason. I'm not sure there's a ton of bitterness on Alex's part. Perhaps some. Perhaps a little frustration. But maybe not enough to make him demand a release or a trade.
  17. Good points. One other variable might be what other veteran QBs are gonna be on the free agent market. One thing that works in the Niners favor is that free agency starts on March 12th this year. Alex's roster bonus isn't payable till April 1st. Admittedly that might not mean much but it might.
