  1. You can see Landry has some nice natural skills. He's got a lot of seasoning left to do though.
  2. I think that's a bit of an oversimplification. Not all play calls are created equal. But poor execution might make it seem that way. Some coaches have a knack for dialing up the right play. But bad players or bad execution will negate good play calling. One more specific downfall would be the fact that under Gailey, the Bills offense and defense rarely played well during the same game.
  3. Not to mention the enormous number of former WNYs who've relocated to that area.
  4. HORRIBLE coverage. One of the major games of the year and the production crew can't be bothered to cue up highlights, even though they probably have 20 cameras and video replay machines. College receivers tend to suck.
  5. And because Phil Knight gives huge amounts of money to the school.
  6. Yep. He favored big linebackers, of course he played a 3-4 scheme. He also loved Bryan Cox and had him on the Jets and Miami I believe.
  7. BTW, in a now-closed thread you said: "You mean like Jimmy Johnson? Or Barry Switzer? Or Sam Wyche? Or Bud Grant?" This was in the discussion of how Chip Kelly had never played or coached in the NFL at any level. Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer were brought up by other posters. You offered Sam Wyche and Bud Grant. Sam Wyche was an NFL player for 9 years. He was an NFL assistant under Bill Walsh for 4 years. All before being named as the Bengals Head Coach. Bud Grant, besides playing in the NBA for two years (and winning an NBA Championship for the Lakers), played in the NFL for the Philadelphia Eagles for 2 years. He then played football professionally in the CFL for 4 years. Grant then coached in the CFL and led the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to 4 CFL Championships. Not sure where you're getting your information from but it's wrong.
  8. Speaking to the talent issue, for the record Kansas City not only has the 5 current Pro Bowlers that have already been mentioned but they also have 2 current Pro Bowl alternates. As for Cleveland, some of it depends on your opinions of Brandon Weeden and Greg Little. Also on defense they have 4 other above average players in D'Quell Jackson, Phil Taylor, Ahtyba Rubin, and Jaabal Sheard. I think the talent is comparable among these three teams and is not really a big selling point for a prospective new HC. Cleveland also has Josh Gordon who is considered a gifted talent.
  9. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darrell_Bevell He'll turn 43 years old on Sunday. He was a 4-year starter at QB for Wisconsin. Undertalented overachiever who had some great moments as a collegian. Went undrafted, embarked on his coaching career.
  10. The medium doesn't matter quite as much as things like whether "the news" is from a rumor mill, a blog post, a passed along rumor, from a "source", from an "inside source", etc. The tendency is for lots of people to treat these things as the same thing. Reading comprehension is not the strong suit of most of the general public.
  11. I seriously doubt the Bills would hire Lovie Smith unless he can guarantee delivery of an OC who the Bills approve of. With his record of marginal OCs, the Bills wouldn't want to hire him without that important coordinator position already in place. I don't remember Ralph ever saying that. Did he say that before or after Wade sued him?
  12. A lot of people thought Reid to Arizona because of Kolb was a natural fit. My belief is that he knows and coached Kevin Kolb and had little desire to resurrect that partnership. Other things aside, Reid to KC makes sense in that they have their pick of QBs, and the roster already has 5 current Pro Bowlers and 2 current Pro Bowl alternates. I also didn't see how Whiz and Horton would remain on the same staff. Grimm will follow Whiz but Horton is ready to be his own man.
  13. He's got the prototypical big neck for a linebacker. I think for an LB he's got a good build generally but I wonder how long his career will last. He's absorbed a lot of punishment.
  14. LT, Harry Carson, Brian Kelley, Pepper Rodgers, Jesse Armstead. Yeah his teams always had lots of good linebackers.
  15. Obviously I meant Clinton. The point is the same. How about some honesty from O'Brien instead of insulting BS.
  16. Cinci's been playing well and the Texans have been slumping for over a month. Marvin Lewis shuts down a fading Matt Schaub. Cinci + 4.5 Christian Ponder's first NFL playoff experience outdoors in the hostile confines of the frozen tundra. Green Bay -7.5 Indy's storybook season visits Baltimore. Too tall an order for the rookie QB. Baltimore -7 Seattle travels cross country to play the surprising Redskins. Matchup of the rookie signal callers. Seattle is the better team. Seattle -3 BTW, I'm not terribly good picking against the spread.
