  1. I agree with your post except this last part. Put me in the camp that believes that this team is poised for a quick turnaround. Good stuff.
  2. That would be an extremely theoretical question at this point. Fitz and Stevie familiarized themselves with each other in practice as non-starters. Because of the chemistry they developed, Stevie has enjoyed 3 consecutive 1000-yard seasons and got a big contract. I would be much more troubled if Stevie threw Fitz under the bus. His endorsement of Fitz is good form and speaks well to Stevie's character.
  3. Good question. It seems from the discussion that the more snaps a player played, the more his score could change. I'm thinking the scores are cumulative and not mean averages.
  4. I had a few thoughts while watching the Syracuse-USC video that one of our posters put up last week. I was impressed with Nassib in the Southern Cal game. I was in a distinct minority. The talent difference was huge, he typically had very little time to throw and the windows were small and closed fast. As the game wore on you could see that he adjusted to the speed of the USC defense and under the circumstances, I thought he played well. Again most of the posters here thought he sucked in that game so take it FWIW which is probably not much. His release is lightning quick as was Trent Edwards'. That's because they have the same delivery. Neither guy winds up very much but rather throws the football like a dart, generating the power in the second half of the throwing motion. Nassib has a stronger arm than Trent, however. Same lightning release and throwing motion though.
  5. Remember Gailey at his farewell press conference (paraphrasing)? "I know we've improved. I just can't prove it." Bad coaching is what we saw last year. One common symptom of bad coaching is demoralized performances by the players.
  6. I haven't studied any of the players yet so I don't have any formed opinions of any of the draft class. Only first impressions. However if there's a guy who's an excellent pass rusher, I think the Bills will go in that direction. My early guess is that they'll trade back into the first round to get their quarterback.
  7. Chan Gailey was hired on January 19th. Now there's no saying that hiring a head coach early is better than hiring one late. I really don't know if any studies have been done on that. But the fact that the Bills are acting quickly and being aggressive seems like quite a change from the past. One popular theory around here is that because April was miffed over being passed over for Head Coach and interim Head Coach that he would not want to work again for the Bills. I have no idea if it's true or not but it certainly seems conceivable.
  8. Judging by the fact that 3 other teams interviewed him early in the process, it's possible the Bills got the guy other teams wanted. Remember Marrone in his first press conference saying "I had choices." Remember reports last Saturday that Cleveland was trying to decide who their first choice was, Kelly or Marrone?
  9. Not all teams have Assistant Head Coaches. We'll see. You couldn't hold The Senator's jock. Debate Moderator's Voice: "And debating the contrary viewpoint, Dave Wannstedt." So then you admit it! You read the BleacherReport! Hey everyone, he reads the BleacherReport!!! This was in reply to a comment about Marcel Dareus. Was that supposed to be funny?
  10. You've completely missed the point. The issue isn't the inevitability of RGIII getting injured. The issue is that he was sent out to play by Shanny when he was hurting the team and exposing himself to greater injury. Everyone and their dead aunt could see that RGIII was hurting himself and hurting the team. Except the guy who's being paid $7 million a year to see it. That's why Shanahan is under fire. Because it's one of the most obvious judgement errors by an NFL head coach in recent history. Perhaps you haven't followed the story. RGIII was originally injured against the Ravens in week 14.
  11. Hopefully he joins Wade Phillips, Mike Nolan, and Dom Capers as coaches who recently and successfully transitioned 4-3 teams into 3-4 teams. In one season.
  12. BTW, what happened to the people who wanted to hire Kyle Shanahan as Bills OC? This guy is 4 years older and also the son of a long-time and respected NFL coach. His Dad has coached in the NFL for over 20 years and has been an OC for 9 years. This kid probably has a very high football IQ and will be working under the oversight of Marrone. Hope it works.
  13. You wish has come true. Consider that Hackett is the protege of Doug Marrone who was an NFL OC for 4 years.
  14. My opinion is the same as everyone else's. It's like saying "sunshine is better than cloudiness." My point which you continue to miss is that he's not gonna be taken by the Bills at #8. If that opinion is troubling you, I'm sorry.
  15. I have no opinion about Geno Smith. I stated that upfront. In fact, I don't have an opinion on any of the draft-eligible players because I rarely watch college football and it's too early for me to start watching the scouting videos.
  16. Where did you get that I dislike him? Because of my incessant joking around you think I don't like him? I've seen him play once in my life and honestly I wasn't really paying attention. Don't mistake me for one of these people who has to have a formed opinion about a player without knowing the first thing about him.
  17. The Bills had 4 or 5 meetings with Marrone before hiring him depending on whose reportage you believe. Does anyone really think that Nathan Hackett's name never came up as a candidate for OC before Marrone was hired? Anyone?
  18. I said that Te'o would not be drafted at #8. Don't complicate things.
  19. And none of those guys was selected higher than 9th overall. Patrick Willis was drafted 11th overall. Ray Lewis was drafted was drafted 26th overall. The reason that inside linebackers are not highly drafted is because it is not considered a high impact position. NFL coaches are gonna tell you that pass rusher and cover cornerback are more important than inside linebacker.
  20. Why do you always have to prove you're better than me? ;o) ? WTF is that supposed to mean?
  21. More likely the Bills signed off on Hackett before hiring Marrone. Read carefully: I'm thinking that Marrone had this move in mind right from the start. The above quote could easily be construed as evidence of this.
