  1. Mark Brammer was a pretty good tight end. The others you listed are certainly are more "deserving" than Robert Royal.
  2. Yes. While I'm not thrilled with this year's QB class, the maneuvering of the dominos should make good theater.
  3. As far as expectations go I've already written the guy off so if he happens to be a contributing member of the roster in 2013, I'd be pleased.
  4. Do they know something the rest of us don't? Or perhaps a calculated decision?
  5. As bad as Robert Royal was (and he did suck elephant), besides the 37 games he started in Buffalo, he also started 29 games in Washington previous to the Bills and 15 games for Cleveland after the Bills. That's 81 games started in the NFL. Also he was one of the league's best blocking tight ends. He honestly doesn't belong on the list. In his place, I nominate Eason Ramson. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/R/RamsEa00.htm Similarly Kelsay sucks big time but A) he's not really a linebacker and B) he has started 119 games in the NFL. Clearly he's not the guy for this team we're assembling. In his place, I nominate Paul Guidry. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/G/GuidPa20.htm
  6. To Tcali and Marc Miller, I always imagine normalizing across eras as a question of what the older era players would have been like had they had the access to the diet, nutrition, supplements, and training that the later era athletes did.
  7. Also, consider how horrible the Bills recent regular seasons have been.
  8. Agree on all of these. Royal and Robinson were horrible. And the Bills have had no shortage of incredibly bad starting QBs. Dan Darragh was as bad a quarterback as anyone who ever started a game in the NFL. And he started 11 games for the Bills with a 1-10 record. He also never played with another team. Also both Ed Rutkowski and Kay Stephenson were 0-3 as Bills starters. Incredibly Darrah, Rutkowski and Stephenson were the Bills QBs on their 1968 team as was Tom Flores who quarterbacked the Bills to a tie in his lone start. The Bills went 1-12-1 in 1968. The late 60s/early 70s teams AND the mid 80s teams are much worse than the teams we've been watching the past decade or so. I mean when you're only winning one or two games per season... I think it would be helpful to list an update on the lineup from time to time while we're doing this. College DE turned pro OLB. Yep. DiGiorgio was small but he was a decent player. He played his ass off. As much as I can't stand Kelsay, he doesn't deserve to be on this list.
  9. As long as he can carry the weight. You don't really want wide receivers to be bulky up top. It changes the physics in a bad way.
  10. The scenario I think of is one which is a grey area. Imagine Ginn running free. The Ravens know that if they come off the sidelines to tackle him that he'll be awarded a TD. However, what if a Ravens player lunges at him but never makes contact and Ginn instinctively swerves to avoid him? In this hypothetical let's then say that Ginn swerving allows the Ravens pursuing him to catch up and tackle him. What's the ruling then?
  11. Yes they do. One of the great composers of the 20th century, the late Morton Feldman, was a professor there for many years.
  12. Thanks for your strong efforts. This would be a good time to remind everyone that Brandon said that analytics would be another tool that they would "layer" over their player evaluation process.
  13. Probably the original poster should amend the thread title to include the word "rumor" or even "unsubstantiated rumor."
  14. You did miss one QB taken in that draft. Sam Bradford.
  15. Yep. I can think of only two mediocre coaches who won Super Bowls; George Seifert and Barry Switzer. Seifert won it with the team that Bill Walsh assembled and trained. Switzer won it with the team that Jimmy Johnson assembled and trained. There are lots of talented teams out there. Some win championships and others underachieve. Yet you still have people who like to say that the players make the coach.
  16. I agree with BuffaloWest. The Niners biggest challenge in the years ahead will be successfully getting past Seattle and out of the NFC. As for Donte, glad to see he's not suffering from PTSD and that his 3rd degree burns haven't dampened his spirits.
  17. What is your purpose in life? You really are pathetic. You must be thinking of cheetahs.
  18. Well Gailey can now indulge his inner stubbornness on the porch at Shady Rest Retirement Home. It had to be his way and now he has only himself to blame.
  19. You're saying that. I'm not. I don't spend time with Stevie so I have no way of knowing. As I said earlier, it was a stupid thing for him to say. People say stupid things all the time. Unfortunately for him, he's a highly-scrutinized professional athlete.
  20. Thanks. I was having my morning coffee and wondering if my brain was ready for the drive up the 680.
