  1. I don't know but I know that it has no bearing on the future. If Barkley isn't good enough it's not gonna be because he played at USC.
  2. Someone should notify him. These might be the loftiest honors he's ever received.
  3. This is the best post regarding the drafting of quarterback so far in this offseason. Thank you.
  4. What makes you think I'm not a public figure?
  5. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/02/18/bowers-faces-same-charge-as-burress/ In the context of the Burress case, Sal Paolantonio of ESPN pointed out the wide differences that often arise in cases of this nature, with 24 percent of the defendants who entered a guilty plea to third-degree criminal possession of a weapon being sentenced to possession with no jail time.
  6. In 2000 the year Watson joined the Bills, the only other player to return punts was Peerless Price. While he was a member of the Bills for the following two seasons, he entirely gave up punt return duties to the likes of Price, Nate Clements, and Charlie Rogers. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WatsCh20.htm In 1999 the year before Watson arrived, Kevin Williams returned all but one punt with Peerless Price returning the other one.
  7. I was perhaps too harsh on Bowers although perhaps not. The story is that he told security that he had a handgun. Maybe he was hoping that they could check it or hold it for him? Still stupid but apparently he didn't try to breach security with it/sneak it aboard.
  8. Depends on which year Honey Badger you're talking about.
  9. An act like this ranks very highly on the list of most stupid acts a person can possibly commit. I wonder what his Wonderlic score was?
  10. The combine is where a lot of business happens.
  11. And many people were calling for Kaepernick as well.
  12. Mayock foresees a post-combine climb up the draft boards for Nassib: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/02/18/mayock-sees-a-post-combine-climb-for-nassib/ “When coaches get involved,” Mayock explained, “they’re going to fall in love with his work ethic and intelligence.” Mayock compared Nassib to Kirk Cousins in 2012 and Andy Dalton in 2013, both of whom have good but not great physical attributes but who impress coaches with their brains and their willingness to roll up their sleeves and work.
  13. Well I like his demeanor and the way he carries himself. There's probably a little bit of false modesty in there but that's no problem because these guys have to be filled with ego and bravado in order to be successful.
  14. dhg was talking about Amendola, not Welker. That's why I seconded him about Amendola playing in only 12 games over the past two years.
  15. Was Wire strong enough to carry Bryan Scott's jock? That's just a rhetorical question so please don't feel the need to answer it. In fact forget I posed the question and sorry for the visual.
  16. Getting back to Whaley, to paraphrase, he said there is no clear-cut top QB out there at the moment but that all the QBs have different "qualities" and so teams will draft guys on the qualities that they value the highest. I guess that means some teams will like Barkley and Nassib for their intelligence and others might like Manuel and Bray for their tremendous natural talent, and still other teams might like the toughness of a Tyler Wilson or the studiousness of a Geno Smith.
  17. It's too bad his arm isn't quite ready for the combine. They're saying that doubles up on the importance of his pro day. The one thing I've heard consistently about Barkley is that he'll be the most polished and pro-ready QB from this class. I still haven't formed strong opinions on any of the QB prospects so I appreciate your take.
  18. You're right and that's what the teams are looking at is people who just blow the exam because it shows that studying or not, these people don't have the aptitude that they're measuring for. Of course that shouldn't be confused with the idea that people who score poorly can't play football either as numerous great QBs in league history scored in the mid teens on the Wonderlic. And then of course you have Fitz who scored nearly perfectly on the Wonderlic. As any scout would tell you, it's just another evaluation tool. With regards to QBs the NFL prefers higher scores and traditionally QBs and O-linemen score the highest by position. I wonder if the NFL clubs know which agents supply practice exams to their clients.
  19. Bufcomments said it. Not me. And I believe that one or two QBs will emerge from this draft. One Bills Drive would never say anything like that. Why would they denigrate someone who is on the roster? But if you actually read Whaley's comments today about the QB crop, you would know that they believe that a prospect they like will be available.
  20. Thanks you about Amendola. He's become very popular here over the last little while but few of his proponents bother to mention that he's only played in 12 games combined (1 + 11) over the last two years. It would be a big gamble giving big money to a guy who seemingly can't stay healthy.
  21. Funny that you posted this. The Wonderlic means less now than it ever has before. The reason is because among the 300+ draft eligible players, some have agents who have supplied them with practice tests and some don't. As a result you have cases where the person with the higher aptitude scores lower on the exam than someone with a lower aptitude. Because of this, many consider the Wonderlic scores to not be a reliable measure of a player's aptitude. The Wonderlic will be augmented with a second aptitude test this year: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000139911/article/wonderlic-to-be-supplemented-by-new-aptitude-test
  22. This is one possible explanation for him still loitering around on the roster. The other possible explanation is that they plan on seeing how capable he is during workouts before making a final decision. I guess he was only recently cleared to work out again.
