  1. The above JW posts are what I based my opinion on. That and common sense. What "logic and evidence" are you basing your opinion on? Accepting at face value Kelsay's official statement released through the team? Also, if you have a problem with anything I write, feel free to address me directly.
  2. We shall see indeed. I wonder how Norv views Weedon. There've been recent rumors that the new Cleveland regime isn't too thrilled with their QBs. I wonder how true that is and how much of that might be Chudzinski and how much might be Norville.
  3. Mel Kiper couldn't carry Joel's pocket protector. Joel was the first, the best, the Godfather of All Draftniks.
  4. Thanks FiC but I am guilty of being a Kelsay hater. I never really participated in the Donte, Fitz or Poz hatred but I always found it easy to get very annoyed with Kelsay. More than anything else, for a guy who was "the consumate pro" he was always losing outside containment and being fooled by misdirection. This literally brought me to the brink of blind rage on numerous occasions. If you're: a) A consumate professional, and b) A seasoned veteran, this sort of repeated failure is completely inexcusable. Hopefully this is the last time I have to vent about Kelsay.
  5. There's no question that he's underachieved his draft status so far. I'm just reminding people that it's too early to be calling him a bust.
  6. I think Baltimore's starting NT (the Polynesian guy who starts ahead of Terrence Cody) is a free agent this year. I wonder if the Bills are talking about him.
  7. Thank you. People continually overlook the fact that Marcel was a 20 year old rookie. By comparison, Vince Wilfork was a 23 year old rookie. I think most people who've played sports would agree that the difference between 23 and 20 is pretty substantial.
  8. I and others lived through that and similar dark periods. It's a part of the Buffalo sports experience. Part of me wants to forget such times but I think it's also important to remember them. If nothing else it helps keep things in perspective.
  9. Carrington's coming off a very good season, is perfectly fitted for being a 5-technique DE, and is one of (I think) only 3 DEs currently on the roster, the rehabbing Mark Anderson included. I'm curious about how Moats and Troup (if he returns to health) might be viewed by the new coaches. It would be great to salvage that first draft with some unexpected improvement from the remaining 2010 draftees. IF Moats and Troup could somehow earn roster spots with Carrington and Spiller, that draft would look a lot better.
  10. JJ, your reasoning is kind of nonsensical. You're saying that because the Bills haven't been to the playoffs in 13 seasons that for you, making the playoffs is no longer good enough and in order for the Bills to get back into your good graces, they have to win a Super Bowl? So what will you be doing between now and when the Bills win the Super Bowl? Will you abstain from any moments of joy and satisfaction if they achieve their first winning record since 2004? If they lose the 2015 AFC Championship Game, that will not be enough to make you feel good about the Bills? Life's too short. Enjoy what you can every day.
  11. I think you're right KOKBILLS but is it a requirement of the Bills new D that they have a "traditional" nose tackle? Did the Jets ever replace Kris Jenkins after he left? Asking cause I don't know.
  12. I agreed with every word of this post until your last sentence. Norv Turner has a sterling reputation in the NFL as an offensive mind and the Chargers excepting last season were a Top 5 scoring offense in each of the last 6 years. Yardage-wise they were a consistent Top 10 offense. Finally the demise last season of the Chargers offense was more likely a result of the deposed AJ Smith's failure to replace key cogs like Thomlinson, an aging Gates, a departed Vincent Jackson and Michael Turner, etc. I know some Browns fans and they are rightly thrilled with the hiring of Turner as their OC.
  13. Or you have to have great intangibles like Drew Brees showed at Purdue.
  14. What Doc and Silvermike explained is what is usually called a "simple restructure." As they explained, we don't want that for Fitz.
  15. Nix is on record as saying you draft cornerbacks and if necessary move them to safety. This is similar to when he said you draft tackles and if necessary move them to guard. On the other hand, the Bills did draft Searcy who seems to be more of a run-support type safety. (Dibs breaks down sobbing)
  16. If the Bills made or even attempted to make a trade like the one being theorized about here, it would be the clearest proof yet that Buddy is no longer at the controls. Either that or he's finally seen the error of his ways (an aversion to draft-day trades). Either way, it would be a big surprise. I'd love it though.
  17. This link quotes Kelsay saying that he wasn't offered a pay cut by the Bills. This means that the Bills didn't offer him a pay cut. It certainly doesn't eliminate the possibility that the Bills told him that they were gonna cut him outright. In fact it probably increases that possibility. I could be wrong but I don't remember people in this thread saying anything one way or another, about a pay cut. I do however remember several posts suggesting that Kelsay's release was imminent.
  18. Yep. As I've stated before, Barkley had better have some incredible intangibles if he's gonna be a franchise QB. Because the ordinariness of his physical skills is very sobering. And if he had those intangibles, wouldn't they have already been on obvious display for all to see? I could be wrong but I remain unconvinced about Barkley. Also just say no to shallow, mentally-lazy thinking.
  19. Ryan is probably in the 6-8 territory but he and Flacco are younger than the others so you take that into account too. Those two are probably still getting better whereas guys like Big Ben, Peyton, etc are most likely on the downsides of their careers. In the real world, these rankings are fluid and dynamic and 8 months from now we might witness an obvious point where one player's career curve intersects with another's, heading in different directions.
  20. And as I said at the time that they were being lit up by the likes of San Fran and New England, it was very obvious from the outside looking in that the players had zero faith in the defensive coaching staff. The demoralization of the Bills D was extremely obvious to anyone who's ever watched a football game. While this observation was met with contempt, outrage and scorn ("they're professionals, they get paid to try their best") it was obvious that the players felt that they had zero chances of succeeding because their managers were incompetent. The Super Bowl Champions fired their offensive coordinator with 4 weeks left in the regular season. Wanny should have been fired after week five. Had Gailey done so, there's a chance that he'd still be the head coach. And that's why I don't really mind players voting on a coaching referendum with their game efforts. It helps us get rid of shyt coaches. Too bad the Bills D was so talented during the Super Bowl years that a mediocrity like Walt Corey was never fired, even though he coached a star-studded squad to underachieving.
  21. Our depth is average at best. The Bills are one injury away from being perilously thin at running back. And when you have one smallish back and another oldish back at a position which features lots of injuries, injuries are to be expected. In fact, both Fred and CJ were injured last year although the bye week saved CJ from missing any games.
  22. More of an offensive mock, huh Damond? Funny it was during the post-draft period last year that I was thinking the Bills didn't have too many holes to fill. And now not even a year later, it seems there are a lot of holes. I guess the blessing/curse is that the team could truly go best player available for most of their picks. I'm intrigued by this Alonso guy.
