  1. I agree that Brady is a tiny bit past his prime. Even though he still puts up huge numbers and looks great for extended stretches, I think he's ticked down a few fractions of a notch and since 2004 he's been unable to transcend his team's weaknesses and lift them to victory.
  2. Yes. To get into that sweet spot to draft a quarterback, it makes a helluva lot more sense for the Bills to trade out of the #8 spot and pick up a couple of high picks than to draft at #8 and try to trade back into the first round. Either trade down or stand pat at #8 and #41, IMO. I'm against any trade up scenario.
  3. Also there's a lot of talk that Mario will be playing OLB this year. Personally I'd make Mario and Carrington the DEs with Marcel and Kyle in the middle and play some kind of one-gap defense.
  4. Captain Hindsight was just joking about making a play for Bowe. And yes to your second point. It illustrates how bad contracts can really hamper a team.
  5. Also, while Martellus Bennett is big and has fairly good straight line speed, he's clunky and doesn't seem to have any quick twitch. I'd avoid Bennett also. If there was one TE to pursue in free agency it would be Delanie Walker. Down the field speed and a terrific blocker. Outstanding football player.
  6. I think you know this Numark but Anderson is coming back from an ACL and Moore is a free agent I believe. Also I think Carrington will be playing a lot of DE.
  7. The Bills could also pay Fitz that $3 million roster bonus with the thinking that the act would engender a reciprocal act of good faith on Fitz' part in making his contract more team friendly. It's really unclear to me what's going to happen with Fitz.
  8. It's an interesting situation. The new league year starts in 8 days at which time Fitz is due a $3 million roster bonus.
  9. Oh cool! A couple of buddies of mine live down there so when I visit we drink/watch sports at O'Hanlon's on East 14th. Never crowded, always right in front of the TV and good beer selection. No kitchen though.
  10. Excellent points! BTW, why ny33? Everytime I see that I think of Genesee Street.
  11. Hmmmm. He has a degree in economics from Harvard. I doubt he'll become a football coach after his playing days are over.
  12. It's an interesting thing because Kaep didn't start his first NFL game till late November so it was more or less a moot point until about 3 months ago.
  13. LOL. Didn't know that's what the school's sports team name is. What an odd name. Because they're from the East? Weird. I think he was pretty much a model citizen this year. Maturity or impending free agency?
  14. I like Keller and think he's pretty good. Similar to Cook, he's had the misfortune of playing with mediocre quarterbacking. Keller's definitely not a blocker though, FWIW. Definitely only a receiving tight end.
  15. Like many NFL players including numerous current Buffalo Bills, it's a bit hard to evaluate Bowe because of the team he played for. That said he's a top talent, IMO. Like a young Anquan Boldin, he's not a burner but he can still get deep, outphysical DBs, dominate the ball with his big hands, jumping ability and catch radius, and he's tough as nails. He would have cost an arm and a leg and it wasn't gonna happen this year anyways. With the Mario contract and Mark Anderson and Fitz still unfortunately on the books, I don't think the Bills will make a Tier 1 FA signing till next year at the earliest anyways.
  16. As I've stated before, if I'm the GM, I'm looking at free agent tight ends like Brandon Myers, Dustin Keller, and Delanie Walker. I would have little or no interest in Jared Cook and if Finley was released I would have no interest. IMO, the first three guys would give you all the performance of the last two with none of the underachieving, and at a lower cost to boot. In Cook's defense, he had Clocker throwing him the ball last year. Still he looks stiff and is more of a "measurables athlete" than a natural athlete, IMO.
  17. Teams go 4-wide all the time. You need two slot receivers probably at least 15-20 plays each game, unless you have a really good receiving tight end.
  18. Paul Kruger is a situational pass rusher who's started in 7 of 51 career games in his 4-year career. His career-high 9 sacks last year give him 15.5 sacks for his career. Dannell Ellerbe is also a 4-year vet who has played in 46 games, starting 14 of them. In those 4 years he has 5.5 sacks (4.5 last season), 1 int, 4 passes defense, and 1 forced fumble. I wonder how much these guys are gonna cost? Their career trajectories maybe going upwards but purely based on the numbers so far, the track record is pretty thin. It just illustrates how problematic free agency is because in truth, either of these guys could be expensive busts.
  19. Buddy didn't deal at all his first two drafts and then dipped his toe in the water last year (and then fell in the pool) when he moved up for TJ Graham. I could see the Bills trading down if a team is desperate for O-line help, which is not a desperate need for the Bills. I could also see a team desperate for defensive backfield help trading with the Bills. It actually wouldn't surprise me if the Bills traded down this year. Agreed. IF they were to go O-line, we can only pray it'll be a tackle and not Warmack.
  20. Good list. Sean Smith has some holes in his game but he's the prototype for today's cornerback. He has that "plus" size like Browner and Chancellor. I also like Bighits suggestion of Delanie Walker. He's an all-around excellent football player. I'm thinking these guys might be second-tier guys and thus, more affordable. If I'm wrong on their values, the market will clear that up soon enough. edit: I meant Sherman, not Chancellor.
  21. Knucklehead? Takes one to know one. Wait...
  22. Surprised no one has brought up Jared Cook's name. It was announced today that the Titans will not franchise Cook. Not that I want him but he's also a highly talented tight end who's underachieved. In Cook's favor, Clocker's been terrible. Finley has no such excuse.
