  1. You're asking the wrong person. I was answering a question posited and discussed by two others. Let me amend. IF they told Fitz that, that's what they accomplished.
  2. Yes this scenario has gotten wide play here and it's a fairly popular one. It seems most people here would rather trade down than trade up and it seems the OTs are the major trade bait in a trade scenario. And St Louis and San Francisco have been the most oft-mentioned trade partners.
  3. I agree with your point. While neither QB or WR seem to be viewed as strengths of this draft, I still would prefer that the team spend its top pick on a QB than a WR. Because of personal biases, I'd also rather draft a pass rusher than a WR although I doubt that will happen. I would rather see WR than ILB or OL though. We shall see soon enough, Bill. In about 40+ days.
  4. Because it's always about the conversation: http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/9051254/bill-barnwell-second-day-nfl-free-agency Barnwell scores it for the Cheatriots***.
  5. I think Wilson has really good intangibles. I love his toughness and leadership. He seems to be a natural thrower and by that I mean that he seems to understand how each throw has to be made with regards to speed, and trajectory. I think Nassib has really good intangibles although he doesn't look like a natural thrower to me. I'm not sure Barkley has good intangibles. What all three have in common is that they are phyiscally average. Oh, and btw, please merge: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/155186-tyler-wilson/page__hl__%2Btyler+%2Bwilson
  6. Very good point. And I'm very concerned about this. I get these Barkley/Nassib anxiety attacks.
  7. Levitre is the only significant loss this offseason IMO, and he was a guy who played a low value position who got a huge contract. Honestly with the likely compensatory draft pick, I'd rather the Titans pay him $8 million a year than us. As for Gibson, why overpay for a #3 receiver? Why did the Rams, a receiver poor team, let him walk without even attempting to re-sign him? The Bills need to fill out the roster for sure and they only have 6 draft picks. Certainly I'd hope they sign another couple of free agents. But the sky is not falling as you've characterized.
  8. And other teams bring 3 QBs to camp and keep 2. We're trying to read tea leaves here but based on what the Bills have done so far and our close observation of the team, I'm confident in what I've already stated.
  9. I would amend that to say that it would certainly be harder and probably more expensive to sign a quality wide receiver for a team without a QB. I agree with this. However I also agree with this. Regardless, I think with few exceptions, you don't get your quarterback before your wide receiver. Especially this year where there are seemingly no exceptional wide receivers of the caliber of Megatron, AJ Green, or Julio Jones. By that logic however, any WR drafted in the first round is gonna succeed, even if he's a 4th round talent. You still have to be able to identify which individuals are likely to play at a high level and justify the pick.
  10. Good question and I don't know the answer. I'd almost say another rookie except that we only have 6 picks so using 2 on QBs seems unlikely. If rumors they brought in Jeff Tuel for a workout are true, maybe an undrafted rookie free agent. I think with Fitz' cap hit that the Bills don't want to pay for another veteran backup. Finally I agree that you need a third camp arm just to get through the preseason but as you know, it's somewhat trendy still for teams to carry only 2 QBs on the active roster. Ultimately I don't think the identity of the 3rd QB is that important, barring injury.
  11. Technically it's "I can't believe the lack of respect for Todd Collins from this board." Yes, the reverse logic based on the line "has some Brian Griese in him."
  12. Since 2010 day one is the first round only so I doubt it.
  13. Jennings signed for nearly $10 million per year with $18 million guaranteed after the Packers had rescinded their best offer to him AND at a moment when it seemed the market for him had gone soft. With an unexpectedly lucrative offer like that, the QB situation was irrelevant.
  14. But why would they cut Jackson right after signing him? What did they achieve by telling Fitz he won't compete for a starting job? They got him off the roster. Clearly (to me) the Bills are gonna draft a rookie and TJax will be the veteran placeholder/eventual backup. And I'm perfectly fine with that.
  15. It happened in 2010 and there was one other instance but I don't recall the particulars. Originally owners of the 22nd overall pick entering the draft, the Patriots first traded that pick to the Denver Broncos to move down to the 24th spot. For that 22nd pick, New England received Denver’s fourth-round pick (No. 113 overall) in addition to pick No. 24. The Patriots then traded that No. 24 pick and a fourth-round pick (No. 119 overall) to the Dallas Cowboys for their first-round pick at No. 27 overall and a third-round pick (No. 90 overall). 16. I agree however the QB will come in the draft most likely. The Bills have a hole at guard and at other positions and I certainly wish they'd have been one player more aggressive than they have to this point. Their inactivity and silence is very intriguing to me actually. I'm not totally convinced it's a bad thing but it may be.
  17. The takeaway for me is that like the Bills, 10 teams have signed only one free agent. In addition, there are 5 teams who have signed zero free agents. So half the league's teams have signed either zero or 1 free agent.
  18. Since we last discussed this subject in late January, there's been some more video made available for EJ Manuel. Here's a video of his performance in the Orange Bowl vs Northern Illinois: When you see this kid's natural talents and understand the fact that he has excellent character and intelligence, I don't see how he's not the top QB prospect in this class. Those QBs ranked above Manuel have only one advantage over him which is that they are considered to be more "pro-ready." Give me the guy with way more talent over the guy who's more polished. Put differently, give me Kaepernick over Dalton. Every time. I'll post the rest of his videos over the course of the evening but apparently our site restricts the posting of video files to one per post.
  19. I just got a visual of Buddy waist high in a bog somewhere noodling for catfish.
  20. It seems to me that a new coach wanting to put his stamp on a team would want to turn over a high percentage of the roster. I'm a bit surprised that the Bills haven't been more active. As for the deep draft class, this team has to fill some needs in free agency because they only have 6 draft picks this year. I agree. I've been pretty patient but now you're seeing players going for small amounts and signing for 1-2 years. Either the Bills are not being aggressive and/or Buffalo has officially become the Siberia of the NFL.
  21. I wish I could argue with you but I don't have too much in the way of supporting evidence.
