  1. Good point. Can you imagine trying to sing the Shout song after every scoring play? It would be pointless.
  2. I pray for our children. Whatever anyone wants to say, it IS important. If one doesn't embrace that belief, at least make sure your children do. Do them that favor.
  3. I believe the salary cap is projected to go up 7% per year through 2022 as per the TV contracts. That's what I've read anyways so the hope that an increase in cap room will help absorb contract spikes seems pretty wishful.
  4. Dikwadd's Pro Day is tomorrow. I think you're a bit early in judging the guy.
  5. I doubt the Bills are considering moving up but I know you've been very agitated lately. You actually seem out of character. Is someone posting on your account?
  6. Agreed. I mentioned him in the Jared Cook thread a few weeks back. I think he is the guy with the most upside and bang for your buck. How much more would the Bills have to pay a guy like that on a one-year contract than a team like the Giants? Although he would save a lot on the cost of living difference I guess. But football-wise, Giants vs Bills? Again that's a tough sell, especially if he wants to bolster his stats with Eli and hit the market again next year or the year after.
  7. Demanding bastid, aren't ya? I'll call Schneider and let him know your terms.
  8. Just to get caught up on some Flynn opinions: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/153350-matt-flynn-yet-another-qb-thread/page__hl__%2Bmatt+%2Bflynn
  9. And this would confirm many people's suspicions. The Bills are operating under an unprecedented cloak of privacy. No one heard anything about Manny Lawson until AFTER he signed. It went without saying to me that they had targeted other players unsuccessfully. To Hopeful's suggestion about casting a wider net, I can only say that we don't know how wide a net they've cast. And is it any surprise that Buffalo is a hard sell? I love Buffalo because I grew up there and lived there for 35 years. If I was a pro athlete there's no doubt it would be one of the last places I would find desirable especially considering the suckitude of the franchise. Rebuilding a program in Buffalo is clearly not an easy task. Jeff Ireland signed Karlos Dansby to a mega-contract in 2010 and cut his ass two years later. Expect more of the same. It looks like the Fish have hired Mike Tannenbaum to help build their team.
  10. I like the first bolded. The silence from One Bills Drive is deafening and certainly very different from anything we've seen before. I don't know what it means but aside from not having signed one more value free agent, I'm alright with things so far this offseason. I'm on board with all the player departures. As to the second bolded, again as of yesterday 10 teams had only made 1 free agent acquisition and 3 teams had made none. As I said yesterday, I believe what's going on in Miami is a NY Jets like circus with the final goal being to get approval for their $400 million stadium upgrade, just like the Jets were trying to sell PSLs. Miami's made a lot of noise but I'm not convinced they've gotten better. Ditto with Tennessee. Philly has been busy and I like their moves the best of all the busy teams. But I'm not really bothered by the Bills' relative inaction to this point.
  11. First of all, thanks for a very thoughtful and well-researched reply. To your point about dink and dunk, a few posters here who follow Seminoles football closely agreed that Jimbo Fisher's offense was very reliant on the short pass, which as has been established, Manuel executed extremely well. Fisher apparently came under some criticism for not taking the wraps off Manuel and letting him do what his skillset seems most suited for, attacking downfield. As for what I watched, I watched his 4 games from this season (probably 250-270 plays) and have not watched the 2011 season yet, mostly because I think it's less relevant what he did as a junior. I wanted to see his most recent level of development, his senior year. To some of the concerns about Manuel that seem to be out there, my observation is that he sees the field well. It also looks to me like he's a competitor. His body language and his willingness to sacrifice his body were both consistently obvious unlike for instance, Geno Smith. I was not impressed with Florida State's O-line as far as pass blocking but it looked to me like Manuel was not skittish nor did he bail out at the first sign of trouble. I thought he showed great poise AND pocket awareness. There were numerous plays where he sensed without seeing the pass rush and moved perfectly in accordance. As far as "having as many question marks as the other QBs" I would say that the ONLY advantage any QB in this draft has on Manuel is that they are more polished or "pro ready." I believe the same thing was said about Ricky Stanzi, he played in a pro-style offense and was polished. Let's make one thing clear: I have no desire to draft Andy Dalton v2. IF all of these QBs have questions, I'll take the one who has elite talent, great intelligence, and zero discernible character flaws. I'll let those hung up on pro-readiness take the Barkleys and Nassibs of the world. As far as moving in the first round, I've repeatedly argued against moving up. I've stated numerous times how nice it would be to move down and pick up extra picks and still get the QB of choice HOWEVER as many others have stated and I agree with, if there's a QB at #8 that you're completely convinced can be "The Guy" then it's pointless and actually reckless to trade down and hope you can get him "on the cheap." That's why I would simply take Manuel at #8. The only QBs on your list I would take in the first round would be Geno Smith and Manuel. Any of the other QBs I'd be happy to get in the second round because IMO, those guys are second round talents. JMO.
  12. You know Wayne, if these were actual NFL scouting reports I might put some credence into them but even NFL scouts are wrong quite a bit. The scouting reports you're reading I can't speak to but most of what's out there is derivative, secondary stuff or amateur stuff. I'd rather trust my own amateur opinion than someone else's. To the suitability of Manuel to whatever Marrone runs, that's a huge concern of mine and the reason I think Barkley or Nassib (unfortunately) are in play here. I admit to not having "scouted" Dysert yet. As far as BPA you're right. It is at least arguable that Dareus was BPA although several players had a claim to that title (AJ Green, Patrick Peterson). However at least Dareus was viewed, like Warmack, as a can't miss stud player. The scouting report on Dareus was that he was a larger version of Warren Sapp. In my book if you're gonna miss, miss on a QB with a huge upside, not on a DT or a guard. As for Manuel being a read-option guy, I saw numerous snaps where he was under center. His dropback is very fast and smooth. Having a great arm and excellent height and intelligence, there's no question in my mind that he could learn and grow into any system, just like I believe Kaepernick is more than just a read option guy. Kaepernick's ability to run 60 yards for a TD obscured for many, the fact that he was consistently making throws that 90% of NFL quarterbacks could only dream of making. The same goes for Manuel, IMO. Finally to your point about the O-line, everyone wants to credit Joe D for a great job coaching that line. It's just as likely that the O-line was very talented and that their performance had more to do with talent than coaching. Yes we lost Levitre and Rinehart but improving at quarterback will have a much more profound effect than filling the perceived hole at guard, IMO.
  13. He might. I have no idea. Would Green Bay? Would the Giants? I couldn't tell you. To try to answer your question, I would draft him on both rationales.
  14. EJ Manuel is a Cam Newton/Kaepernick talent. He's a freak athlete with no discernible weaknesses or concerns.
  15. Talent-wise he is the most talented QB in this draft, by a wide margin. Also he has a track record as a 4-year starter who won 4 bowl games. Also he's an obviously intelligent guy who did well in school and has zero character concerns. He's also reputed to have a great work ethic. I actually don't understand why he's not the top-rated QB in this draft. I've spent the last few days watching QB videos. Here's EJ's: http://draftbreakdown.com/players/ej-manuel In spite of Levitre and Rinehart leaving, I still view the O-line as a relative position of strength. Thus I'm against BPA. This team doesn't need to bolster the O-line. And I don't agree with the conventional thinking that the available QBs are 2nd round talents. I do however agree with the conventional thinking that if you don't have a QB you don't have anything.
  16. The point wasn't necessarily well-made but it was pretty clear. But all the drugs I did earlier in life allow me to make free associations.
  17. Who would you draft if you could draft any player? For complete disclosure, I can tell you that I wouldn't draft an O-lineman. I would take a QB but not any QB. I would take Manuel right now.
  18. You didn't find the Flacco comment to be coherent? You seem to be in an interesting state of mind.
  19. Totally agree. And yes, I QB can be a great passer without having a bazooka arm.
  20. Are you suggesting that the Bills should draft an O-tackle? I'm not understanding your sarcasm.
  21. Interesting that you're in the distinct minority in this thread. Any supporting evidence that he's not elite? Which QBs do you consider elite or even ahead of Manuel?
