  1. Not even remotely similar situation though. 1) The current stadium is still in a rural setting. There would be very few new purposes for the property. The Seneca Mall by contrast is in an urban environment. 2) The current stadium and complex sits on over 200 acres, much larger than the old Seneca Mall. What do you do with 200 acres in a largely rural area? 3) The Seneca Mall was owned by Pyramid, the company which built and operated the Walden Galleria knowing full well that they would render the Seneca Mall extinct. After they opened the Galleria, they closed the Seneca Mall, demolished it, and rebuilt a new unenclosed shopping complex there which is currently home to a Tops and a Kmart. I could go on but I don't think tearing down the Seneca Mall is relevant to tearing down the football stadium. Everything is different, including the cost and what could be done to defray that cost.
  2. If you guys are gonna base your argument that Barkley or Nassib are Brees' match on statistics, then I can't argue with you. The most significant of Brees' stats I can point to is that when he graduated from Purdue, he held the Big Ten record for passing yards and TD passes. But it's Brees' non-statistical accomplishments as a player that place him high above Barkley and Nassib. Brees resuscitated a moribund Purdue program and led them to their first Rose Bowl appearance in 24 years. With coach Joe Tiller he resurrected a Purdue program which had become a laughingstock in the Big Ten. For the 12 seasons before Drew Brees got to Purdue, the program had losing records. Twelve straight seasons as losers. In the 4 years Brees was at Purdue, they had a record of 33-16. After 12 straight losing records. And after he left they were never again as good. Brees won the Maxwell Award as college football best player. Neither Barkley or Nassib ever won this award. He won the Davey O'Brien Award as the nation's best quarterback. Neither Barkley or Nassib ever won this award. Brees finished 4th and 3rd in the Heisman voting. Barkley finished 6th two seasons ago. Unless I'm mistaken, Nassib was never on the Heisman radar. Twice Brees was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year. Brees was also the MVP in both the Alamo Bowl and the Outback Bowl. Only statistics could make the case that Barkley or Nassib's careers approached that of Drew Brees'.
  3. He's played right guard with the Jets. Whether that would preclude him from playing left guard with the Bills is something I have no idea about. But I guess theoretically if they signed Moore, they could move Urbik to left guard. Just a thought.
  4. Thank you for taking the time off from your work at One Bills Drive to give us an objective, behind-the-scenes look at the machinations of our favorite football team. The fact that they hire people like you certainly explains a great deal. The first time the word "analytics" was ever mentioned in the same sentence as "the Buffalo Bills was two months ago, 10 months AFTER Mark Anderson was signed. I'm guessing you knew this. The question then becomes why you would use the Mark Anderson signing as evidence that the Bills don't now employ analytics.
  5. You know KD, I hope the Bills are secure and confident enough in their evaluations that they don't second guess themselves based on a few teams passing on a quarterback that the Bills like. Not according to a very vocal and significant number of people here who considered Miller to be purely a speed player. I would say that for every time Von Miller's name was mentioned that Aaron Maybin's name was mentioned at least .60 times. Same with Bruce Irvin. For many talent evaluators on our board, a speed rusher is immediately an Aaron Maybin clone.
  6. Well considering Fitz was extended in 2011 and you became a member of our board in May of this year, I guess we'll have to take your word for it.
  7. Hilarious stuff guys. Dumervil's the same age as Mario Williams, was drafted the same year, has the same number of sacks (63.5) and 3 more forced fumbles (16 to 13). If we had drafted Dumervil in the 4th round instead of Ko Simpson, he would be a God in Bills Nation. Thanks for the yuks though.
  8. If we were to trade up to #1, which QB do you want the Bills to draft? Who is the best QB in the draft in your opinion? Would you want to give up our 1st and 2nd this year and a first next year AND the year after that to move up? That's what the Redskins gave up to draft RGIII, 3 1sts and a 2nd to move up from #6 to #2. Are you condoning a similar deal? Funny the highest drafted QB of the 6 that you mention is Big Ben at #11 overall. I agree with you Pete. Pick #8 is a pretty nice spot to be for this draft.
  9. Correct me if I'm wrong but: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/156618-fitz-money-explained-since-he-was-released/ If I'm correct, please merge. Thanks.
  10. Are you saying to sign Hasselbeck in addition to drafting a QB? What if the rookie struggles a bit and is yanked, and we never truly evaluate him as a result? What if the Bills win 7 games with Hasselbeck, missing the playoffs and having middling draft position again? I'm very firmly in the camp of sink or swim with the rookie QB and after a full year of evaluation, make a decision on whether to draft another QB next year. This lack of a "QB of the Future" issue needs to be put to rest ASAP. JMO.
  11. Mario is definitely not part of the problem and he's definitely part of the solution. It's gonna be something to see a real defensive coordinator utilize his talents instead of a lame brain like Wanny. IMO, we haven't seen anywhere near what Mario's capable of and I thought under the circumstances that his play last year was fine.
  12. Thank you very much for your volunteerism and your community building efforts. Having read many of your posts, I'm not surprised that you're that kind of person. I know volunteerism is not always rewarding and I applaud you for enriching your community and the lives of many of your neighbors. If we could "like" posts, Hammer would be likin' this. Like dpberr says, if you abandon a stadium, how the hell do you re-develop that site. That's a subject no one seems to talk about when talk of relocation comes about. How much would it cost to demo the stadium and turn the land into "Smokes Creek Park?" A helluva lot of money. That's how much.
  13. And that becomes a legit discussion. However, as most of us seem to agree if a team is in love with Manuel (or any of the QBs), why trade down and risk losing that guy? I would personally take him at #8 as he's my personal favorite of all the QBs although I know a lot of people here who'd love to risk getting him on the cheap in a trade down scenario. If it works and you get an extra pick or two, fine. If you really like the guy and lose him as a result of a trade down, then that's a tough pill to swallow. If you trade down and miss him but someone you like almost as much is still there, then I guess that's a win.
  14. As Doc and Chris Heff said, there's no way Manuel is available in the 2nd round. Zero.
  15. There were numerous people on this board that were convinced that Gailey would be retained as Bills Head Coach. In his last week of employment with the Bills I must have told at least a handful of people that Gailey was definitely gonna get fired. But these people (and some of the well-respected posters here) were convinced that Gailey would get one more season.
  16. Hasselbeck is a better player than Fitz. This was all about money. Tennessee's another team that's thrown a lot of money around in free agency but that doesn't appear to have improved that much. They improved the O-line with Levitre and Delanie Walker is a good player but they've lost some guys too (Jared Cook) and just got weaker at quarterback. Then they signed guys like Shonn Greene and Sammy Lee Hill. Color me underwhelmed.
  17. As you might possibly surmise from the post directly above, the compensatory picks have been announced and awarded: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/18/ravens-falcons-get-four-compensatory-picks/ None for the Bills. Here’s the complete rundown of 2013 compensatory picks: Atlanta Falcons (four picks): one fourth-rounder (No. 133), three seventh-rounders (Nos. 243, 244, 249). Baltimore Ravens (four): one fourth-rounder (No. 130), one-fifth-rounder (No. 168), one sixth-rounder (No. 203), one seventh-rounder (No. 247). Tennessee Titans (three): one third-rounder (No. 97), one sixth-rounder (No. 202), one seventh-rounder (N0. 248). San Francisco 49ers (three): one fourth-rounder (No. 131), two seventh-rounders (Nos. 246, 252). Houston Texans (two): one third-rounder (No. 95), one sixth-rounder (No. 201). Kansas City Chiefs (two): one third-rounder (No. 96), one sixth-rounder (No. 2o4). Detroit Lions (two): one fourth-rounder (No. 132), one seventh-rounder (No. 245). Miami Dolphins (two): one fifth-rounder (No. 166), one seventh-rounder (No. 250). Cincinnati Bengals (two): two seventh-rounders (Nos. 240, 251). Seattle Seahawks (two): two seventh-rounders (Nos. 241, 242). Green Bay Packers (one): a fifth-rounder (No. 167). Oakland Raiders (one): a sixth-rounder (No. 205). Pittsburgh Steelers (one): a sixth-rounder (No. 206). Philadelphia Eagles (one): a seventh-rounder (No. 239). New York Giants (one): a seventh-rounder (No. 253). Indianapolis Colts (one): a seventh-rounder (No. 254). San Francisco already has a slew of draft picks and now they get 3 more. How many total does that give them? Geez.
